It's Friday afternoon, what can I say.

The few I can think of quickly without looking them up (that would be too easy) would be:

C- Mike Rabelo, Brad Ausmus, Paul Bako
1b- Carlos Pena, Tony Clark, Sean Casey
2b- Damian Easley
ss- Omar Infante, Chris Gomez
3b- ?

OF- Craig Monroe, Frank Cattalanato, Cameron Maybin

SP- Jeff Weaver, Andrew Miller, Jair Jurrjens,

RP- Dave Borkowski (active?), Kyle Farnsworth, Doug Brocail (active?), Jamie Walker

Please don't just look a bunch of guys up and spew them back.

John Smoltz (Tigers Minor leaguer...)? Luis Gonzalez?

Mike Rivera (Catcher....I think he's at least in Spring Training w/ somebody...))?

Juan Gonzalez? Did he make the Cards?

Vinny
03-28-2008, 04:07 PM
Does Phil Nevin still play? (Edit:No, I think he retired....)

Vinny
03-28-2008, 04:08 PM
Mikey Maroth's in Spring Training with somebody too I think...

Glenn

--Smoltz (duh)

--Luis Gonzalez signed with the Marlins, didn't he? That's a good one.

--Juan Gone was injured I think, not sure if he's still a roster possibility in STL, haven't heard anything about Rivera in years.

I just remembered Juan Encarnacion, but I think his career is in jeopardy after getting hit in the face last year.

What about Fick? Brian Moehler is in Houston with Brocail, right?

Glenn

Mikey Maroth's in Spring Training with somebody too I think...

Royals just sent him to AAA

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:13 PM
We need a 3B

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:14 PM
Is Munson still playing?

I thought I remembered seeing somewhere that he was catching again.

DA MEAT HOOK

Glenn

Ledezma is trying to make a squad somewhere out west I think.

Nook Logan had a nice year for the Nats last season.

I think that's it for me.

Who was the guy that spent a while with the Royals. I think he played 3B. If we trade Inge he could be that guy.

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:26 PM
Randa?

I think he retired.

Jethro34
03-28-2008, 04:30 PM
Yeah, Randa is who I was thinking of. Looks like he last played in 2006.

Too bad Travis Fryman was making a comeback somewhere.

What about that outfielder that went to AZ and had an all-star career? Or is he retired. Gonzalez?

mentioned in posts 3 & 7

Luis. Completely juiced that season. 57 HR and 142 RBI, when the rest of his career he only hit 30+ HR one other season (and it was 31).

He's 40 but he's signed with the Marlins and therefore eligible for this list.

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:39 PM
He's 40

He's a man.

Jethro34
03-28-2008, 04:40 PM
Infante could play 3B if necessary.

Can't believe nobody mentioned Francisco Cordero as our closer.

Jethro34
03-28-2008, 04:41 PM
I checked and Infante has played 30 games at 3B for his career.

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:42 PM
Chris Gomez could probably cover 3B too.

Good call on Cordero.

Gabe Kapler was managing a Minor League team. I think he's trying a comeback somewhere now though.

Jethro34
03-28-2008, 04:44 PM
What about Redman as a starter? I think he's still around and we do need 5 starters.

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:45 PM
I think our former bullpen is a lot better than our current bullpen.

Jethro34

Ledezma is with the Padres and could start. Franklyn German (is that who you meant by meat hook?) is with the Rangers.

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:47 PM
I'm such a dumbshit, Jack Hannahan at 3B.

Where is Shelton?

Where is Durbin?

Other guys from last year that are gone now?

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:51 PM
Has anyone signed NEIFI?

We traded a reliever recently that wasn't here very long, Capellan or something?

Vinny
03-28-2008, 04:51 PM
Durbin's in Phillie I think.

Karl Farnsworth

Glenn

Farny's in post #1

By the way, this idea came to me when I read that article that Vinny posted about the airplane porn.

Specifically, the sight of Wendell Magee's name got me thinking "where are they now".

Vinny

Kapler was indeed Boston's Class A manager last year and was trying to make the Brewers this Spring.

From his Wiki:

His musculature and shirtless photos have made Kapler a favorite of both women and men.

Glenn

Ugueth Urbin...nevermind

Glenn
03-28-2008, 04:58 PM
Okay, so somebody can compile all of these now and we can pick the best starting lineup.

Bye.

Vinny
03-28-2008, 04:59 PM
That sounds like a job for Zekyl.

Glenn
03-28-2008, 05:00 PM
He's working on the Indians already.

What about that CF that Randy Smith said was going to be a hall of famer? Was that Macius or someone else I am thinking of?

EDIT, i was thinking of Cedeno. What about Higgy and Fick, are they still playing? D Young is still playing, I don't think he was mentioned. He'd probably start at 1B (or could be your 3B).

WTFchris
03-28-2008, 05:50 PM
Shelton and Rondell White I don't think were mentioned.

Other than Miller, I dont see anyone that would replace any starter(he'd make the rotation, imo). That wasn't always the case. Good job DD!

Props to Glenn for this thread. Hit and miss, but who knew this would go to 5 pages so quickly?

I added Defelice, Stairs and Mohler for you, then I compiled them (I also looked up a couple and deleted them because they did not play last year). Someone else can sort out the order:

C- Mike Rabelo, Brad Ausmus, Mike Difelice
1b- Carlos Pena, Tony Clark, Sean Casey, Matt Stairs
2b- Damian Easley
SS- Omar Infante, Chris Gomez
3b- Demitri Young (too many 1B), Jack Hannahan

OF- Craig Monroe, Frank Cattalanato, Cameron Maybin, Luis Gonzalez, Juan Encarnacion, Nook Logan, Rondell White

SP- Jeff Weaver, Andrew Miller, Jair Jurrjens, John Smoltz, Mike Maroth, Wil Ledezma, Mark Redmond

RP- Dave Borkowski, Kyle Farnsworth, Doug Brocail, Jamie Walker, Troy Percival, Francisco Cordero, Franklyn German, Durbin, Brian Mohler

John MacDonald could play 2nd, 3rd or Short. He's a good utility guy off the bench. I was thinking of putting him ahead of Easley, but I was surprised to see how productive Easley actually was still. Double digit HR's in limited PT last season and a healthy OPS and BA. Nicely done Damion.

Surely Greg "Utility" Norton will pop up somewhere by July. He can play any infield or corner outfield position.

Wilfredo Ledezma
03-29-2008, 12:09 PM
How about Hiram Bocachica, he played with San Diego last year...

Humberto Sanchez can fill our 60 day-DL spot...

Our AAA All Active Former-Tigers Team can have Hideo Nomo since he's currently in the Royals organization...

Zekyl
03-29-2008, 03:26 PM
Why would compiling this be a good job for me? I was actually already doing it as I was reading, then got to the last page and it was already done. Who plays what OF spot and what's the depth? Isn't Maybin back in the minors?

Vinny
04-02-2008, 08:29 PM
Cody Ross just made a nice catch in center for the Marlins. I'm pretty sure he's a former Tigers Farmhand.

Zekyl
04-02-2008, 08:33 PM
Yes indeed, he is.

Jethro34
04-05-2008, 04:07 PM
Gabe Kapler just hit a HR, for the Brewers perhaps?

Jethro34
04-07-2008, 05:23 PM
Kapler now has as many HR this season as the Tigers' 1-8 hitters combined. Then again, so does Inge.
