WTFchris 03-25-2008, 05:27 PM I can't do the NL. I don't know the other teams very well.
I will say this. I'm picking the Tigers to win it. I think Verlander will win the Cy Young too.
AL division champs are Detroit, Boston, and Angels. WC is Indians. Sleeper is the White Sox. Choker is Yanks. They'll miss out on the WC I think.

MoTown 03-28-2008, 10:14 AM Explination:
The Red Sox will choke because of injuries to their pitching staff. Their lineup isn't that impressive, so with the struggling pitching, they will miss out on the playoffs. I picked the Yanks to win because they're the Yankees, and The Boss' deal with the Devil hasn't expired yet.
Unless the Tigers pick up some relief pitching, I'm worried about blowing a couple of key games in there. They should win the central, but Cleveland will win it just to piss me off. Fuck you Grady Seizmore. Grandy owns you.
I have a good feeling about the Brewers this year. Watch them suck.
The Phillies are receiving too much national attention. They'll choke because everyone is expecting great things from them.
Awards:
Verlander will win because even if he just pitches very well instead of great, he will top 20 wins with that lineup behind him. And the Cy Young has become more about victories than ERA.
I want to vote for Miggy for MVP, but the MVP has to go through New York. The world will explode if the MVP is not a Yankee in Yankee Stadium's last season.
Fielder will win MVP if the Brewers make the playoffs. Bank on it.

I'm so confident with these picks I've got Glenn's house riding on them.
Timone 03-28-2008, 11:08 AM Rob Parker has the Tigers missing the playoffs.
Glenn 03-28-2008, 11:16 AM I'll roll with this:
American League
AL EAST
Division Champ: Yankees
AL CENTRAL
Division Champ: Tigers
AL WEST
Division Champ: Mariners
AL WILDCARD: Red Sox
AL SLEEPER: Mariners
AL CHAMP: Yankees
National League
NL EAST
Division Champ: Philly
NL CENTRAL
Division Champ: Cubs
NL WEST
Division Champ: Arizona
NL WILDCARD: Mets
NL SLEEPER: Padres
NL CHAMP: Cubs
WS: Cubs over Yankees
Glenn 03-28-2008, 11:26 AM --I think injuries are going to kill the Angels this year.
--I really like the team that the Cubs have put together (my WS winner)
--Philly has a really impressive lineup, not sure about making Brett Myers a starter again and relying on Tom Gordon as your closer (again) is pretty dangerous (although not as dangerous as relying on Todd Jones as your closer).
--I think the Tigers fall short due to lack of pitching (duh)
--I think the Tigers will score 20 runs at least 6 times
--Arizona's pitching will carry them to the NL West title, especially if they can get 27-30 starts out of Randy Johnson
--If not the Cubs, I can see this being another Yankees/Mets subway series
DrRay11 03-28-2008, 11:28 AM Tigers will not make the 'offs, that's my only prediction. Please let me be wrong.
MoTown 03-28-2008, 11:47 AM I'm still awaiting Wil's picks though. Baseball is his sport and he knows more than all of us combined...
Jethro34 03-28-2008, 12:28 PM I'm still awaiting Wil's picks though. Baseball is his sport and he knows more than all of us combined...
I declare shenanigans.
MoTown 03-28-2008, 12:47 PM My bad. Should have used green type...
Wilfredo Ledezma 03-29-2008, 11:36 AM AL East- Boston Red Sox (have the most pitching, outstanding bullpen, nice blend of veterans and youth, and a pretty damn fine lineup)
AL Central- Detroit Tigers (I think the pitching will be better than most expect, and by late May/early June, Zumaya & Rodney should both be back)
AL West- Seattle Mariners (Angels may not have Escobar all season, and Lackey is out for a month, their pen has become mediocre, and I love what Seattle did adding Beadard to go with King Felix)
AL Wild Card- Cleveland Indians (just barely beating out the Yankees)
NL East- Atlanta Braves (I love their pitching, and I think Teixeira is going to have a monster contract year)
NL Central- Chicago Cubs (I like Zambrano to have a bounce back year, and Soriano to show up for the first 2 months of the season unlike last year)
NL West- San Diego Padres (starting pitching says it all, they're 1-2 punch trumps Arizona's, and Peavy wins another Cy Young)
NL Wild Card- New York Mets (Johan, Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Maine...just too much talent to miss the playoffs)
ALCS- Detroit over Cleveland
NLCS- Atlanta over Chicago
World Series Champ- Detroit over Atlanta
AL MVP- Manny Ramirez (somewhat of a contract year; I believe he has a pretty big team option, and he's already off to a fast start, I think he'll edge out Miguel Cabrera, A-Rod, and Magglio for the award)
NL MVP- Mark Teixeira (you heard it hear first, this dudes going to drop a bomb on the rest of the league)
AL Cy Young- Justin Verlander (should win 20+, last year he upped his K's, got the best run support in the league, and he's only getting better)
NL Cy Young- Jake Peavy (back to back, well over 200 K's)
AL Rookie of the Yr- Jacoby Ellsbury (Boston) I think Evan Longoria is going to be a super stud though, but since he's going to start the year in AAA (to avoid being a Supertwo player), Jacoby will get the "ESPN bias" and win ROY
NL Rookie of the Yr- Kosuke Fukudome (Chicago)
AL Manager- John McLaren (Seattle)
NL Manager- Bobby Cox (Atlanta)

I have a problem with Pedro Gomez being a MLB Analyst if these are his picks:
NL Winners:
East: Braves
Central: Brewers
West: Dodgers
Wildcard: Mets
AL Winners:
East: Yankees
Central: Tigers
West: Angels
Wildcard: Cubs
Glenn 03-31-2008, 09:47 AM I can't, for the life of me, figure out why so many people are thinking the Braves are going to win the NL East.
Even more puzzling are the people that are drooling over their rotation.
Okay, Smoltz is great, but he's over 40 and starting the year on the DL.
Tom Glavine? Over 40, and is he going to scare anybody?
Tim Hudson, a solid starter, no doubt.
Mike Hampton, I think he's held together with band aids. Would you want to count on this guy?
Jair Jurrjens? Who knows what you are going to get there?
They lost Andruw Jones and Edgar Renteria and added Mark Kotsay. Yeah.
I see third, at best, for Atlanta.

Glenn 03-31-2008, 09:52 AM Damn, those ESPN hacks are throwing out a lot of love for Cabrera/Verlander.
Even Maybin.
Glenn 04-01-2008, 04:14 PM The Braves are 0-2.
DONE.
