I haven't been following the box scores. So Rayburn takes over in center? Inge? or platoon a few guys.

Shit? When did that happen? I was listening to yesterday's game on the radio and missed that part.

So what are we going to do at centerfield?

My guess is that Thames will get left field while Jones gets center.

However, I would do it differently. What about having Inge play 3rd, Cabrera DH, Sheff in Left and Jones in Center? It might get Sheff to start the season hitting better, and we'd have a little better defense on the field.

I have no idea what we're planning. Or what we should, for that matter.

I'm guessing Inge or Raburn platoon with Jones to hold it down in CF.

what about freddy guzman?

Yup, he should at least make the roster for sure now.

You guys, Granderson's DL stint is retroactive to Saturday, so he'll be eligible to come off the DL on March 8th...

and if Rodney goes on the 15-day DL he would be eligible to come off of it at anytime since he hasn't officially pitched in a game this spring (at least to my knowledge)...

How can you say "I am not feeling good about this season" when the season hasn't even started yet?

Stupid.

Simple: I'm not comfortable with our rotation or our bullpen.

Ledezma = twatspit

It's like saying, 'hey, do you want to go out this weekend?' when you mean the upcoming one. You're pulling at straws here.

If our pitching matches last year's numbers, we'll be fine.

And something tells me that not having to trot Chad Durbin out their every 5th day, adding Miguel Cabrera, Edgar Renteria, Dontrelle Willis, etc. will lead to us winning at least 2 more games to get a Wild Card spot...

No reason to worry.

We won 88 games last year w/o Rogers, Zumaya, Bonderman for 2 months, Sheff out for 2 months, Rodney out for 2 months, Pudge getting 9 walks, Inge hitting .100, Sean Casey as a starter and a plethura of shit in the 5th spot of the rotation...

I'm sure winning 91 or 92 won't be a problem...

VIERA, Fla. -- Brandon Inge suddenly has gone from an expendable player to someone the Detroit Tigers are depending on heavily to start the regular season.
With Curtis Granderson likely to miss the first two weeks of the season with a broken bone in his right hand, Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Monday that Inge would be Detroit's starting center fielder on opening day. Inge also will be the team's backup catcher and backup third baseman.
Interestingly, Inge also continues to be trade bait, although the likelihood of that happening in the next couple weeks has dimmed considerably. Leyland was asked whether the Tigers could adequately fill Inge's roles if he left today in a trade: "No. Would we be OK? Yes. I guess a better way to answer that is: Would we be as good with somebody else other than Inge? No."
Inge has been the subject of trade discussions throughout spring training for two reasons: One, he has a hefty contract (three years, $19 million) for a backup player and, two, Inge wants to leave and become an everyday player somewhere else. Apparently, those two situations have changed a little.
"I had a wonderful talk with Inge (on Sunday)," Leyland said. "I think Brandon is happier leaving camp than he was coming in. We've gotten everything sorted out. His attitude is tremendous, our relationship is tremendous and we don't pull any punches. I think, no matter how this plays out, if he's with us, I think he'll leave camp a lot happier than when he came in and a lot more at ease mentally."
"I know my role if I'm on this team and there's a pretty good chance that I am," Inge said. "I'm on line 100 percent that this is where I am. I'm with this team and I'm going to do everything I can to help out -- whatever it takes to help out. I'm not mad at anyone and I'm not having a bad attitude. I'm just doing my business, I'm going to go out and prepare myself for every day, every position."
As for any potential trade talks, either now or in the future, Tigers president Dave Dombrowski was not shedding much light on the situation.
"I don't have anything more to say about it," he said. "I've talked to you guys about Brandon's situation and I've said it hasn't changed all along. He's a member of our club."
If Granderson had not gotten hurt, Inge likely would have been doing some catching in the final games of the spring schedule. It is unlikely now that will happen.
"I'd like to, but I don't know if I can because now he's getting a cram-course in center field because he hasn't been out there for awhile either," Leyland said. "The other thing is, and it sounds goofy, but with the way things are going, with my luck I'll catch him for an inning or two and he'll get a foul tip and I'll lose my center fielder and my backup catcher. So I've got to be careful. Is (one inning) going to make that much difference? He can catch."
As far as replacing Granderson in the leadoff role, Leyland plans to use Edgar Renteria most of the time with Ivan Rodriguez an option against left-handed pitching.
"I think Renteria is the logical choice right now. I don't like to do it because I like Edgar down a little bit more," Leyland said. "I'll probably hit Pudge eighth and Inge ninth -- or Pudge seventh and Jacque Jones (eighth). I'm not sure yet. It's a little tricky now, it's a little trickier than it was."
The reason Leyland would prefer Renteria hit further down in the order -- he will bat seventh when Granderson is healthy -- is because of his run-producing ability.
"I think if you look at Renteria's RBIs, it's not that he's been a huge, huge RBI guy, but he's been one of the best in baseball in knocking in huge runs," Leyland said. "His numbers aren't huge, but when he knocks in 70, there's a good chance that those 70 were more important than somebody else's 70. He knocks in the big ones at the right time."

Saw that one coming. I guess that means he's not getting traded (yet)
