Anyone else think that the Pistons will be extremely focused in trying to win that Cleveland game tomorrow?

Yes.

I have a feeling the Nuggets take this. They're fighting for their playoff lives, and the Pistons have LeBron tomorrow night. I could be wrong, and if that's the case I'm deleting this post.

Denver never seems to matchup well Vs. us. They are still awful defensively and we've beaten them 12 out of the last 14...

I like Detroit here...

Chucky Atkins sighting!! Hopefully Linas Kleiza doesn't torch us for 2 minutes like he did last time we played...

I went to the game here in Denver (when we beat the Nuggs). They really don't match up with us well because they are probably the closest bunch of whiners to us. Gaymart, Melo, AI and JR do nothing but complain all game. All you have to do is stop the open 3 point looks from JR, Kleiza and Najera and we should be fine. When we played good defense they focused on the refs and didn't play team ball. Their bench (besides JR) play team ball, but the starters can be rattled.

I'm guessing that Maxiel and Amir will play a total of 8:35 today vs the nuggets.

I mean it makes sense according to his rotation theories.
1. If the starters are playing bad, leave them in as long as possible.
2. If a bench player makes a mistake, yank him asap and kill his confidence and do not allow him to play through mistakes.
3. If a bench player plays a great game then the next game his minutes are cut by 90% because of "fatigue". Ala, Maxiel playing 25 huge minutes last yr vs Cleveland and having a huge game, only to get like 7 minutes the next game.
4. Don't play the youngsters (Amir, Stuckey, Afflalo) because it's all about getting that extra 2 wins in the regular season that matter the most.

jenks,

I like your cynicism.

It's so true though, that is the saddest part about it. I swear Flip Saunders is like an old ass computer that freezes when you have more than 1 program open.

Whenever the other team makes an adjustment, he is completely stunned because he is trying to follow his "non-adjustable" game plan. He just looks dumbfounded and it's like his hard drive just crashed. What a moron.

Fuck-A-Flip.

Larry brown had so much playoff luck on his side.

He went through injury-ravaged teams in 2004, and went down 3-2 to Miami the next year until Wade went down and he got the last two.

Flip hasn't had the same luck in the playoffs. he had to coach against HEALTHY opponents.

As much Larry brown ass kissing that goes on, nobody thinks that Malone's injury and Kobe and Shaq basically feuding on the floor just might have had a little bit to do with it as well.

And in the 2005 finals, I'm just guessing that Flip would not have chosen to guard Tim Duncan with tayshaun Prince in the second half of game 7.

Malone's injury had a little bit to do with it, but I don't want to hear the whole Kobe vs Shaq thing. Obviously they got along well enough to get through SA (down 2-0 in that series) and Minnesota, en route to the Finals.

I don't think they would have gotten past a healthy Minnesota team. The loss of Cassell and Hudson was huge.

The Lakers needed a lot of luck (0.4) just to make it to the conference finals. They were by no means clicking on all cylinders when they got to the finals.

Cassell moreso than Hudson obviously, but I don't know if I agree or disagree. When did Cassell get hurt in that series?

He played one game hurt, struggled his way through the game and that was it.

I'm not a Flip supporter. I haven't been one since he (and the boys, to be fair) blew a 2-0 lead against the Cavs for the second straight year. Initially I was in favor of him being named the coach here (can even ask Bubbles).

I didn't even h8 on him after the loss to Miami, which I came to accept after the Heat won the title (it was apparent nobody was going to stop Wade from getting calls and getting to the line 25 times a game).

If he just GETS to the Finals I will be happy.

Zekyl
03-18-2008, 05:47 PM
I'd be happy making the finals. I want to win it, but making it would also be a plus. It'd take some heat off Flip. Until then, I think he either doesn't react or ends up overthinking and screwing up.

I don't think they would have gotten past a healthy Minnesota team. The loss of Cassell and Hudson was huge.
They might not have beaten a healthy pistons team in the 87-88 season, or we might not have beaten a healthy lakers team the following year, or they might not have beaten a healthy sixers team. Doesnt matter, title still goes down as a title last i checked and all the glory and parades that come with it. Injury ifs and guarantees arent really the way to go.

Its an excuse in the end. When billups went down i took it as it was and the nets deserve to beat us. No "billups getting injured was huuugggeeee"... The reality of that laker minnesota series was that Flip chose to double team shaq. the lakers were unbeatable when you made that your philosophy. Larry Brown cut back severely on the double teams and said "let shaq try to score 100 if he can"...call the injuries you want, but there were flaws and exploited advantages that came into play beyond that. Choking everything down to "who was injured" is weak. Its weak if any piston fans did it when the nets beat us, and its lame to try and use it as legit factors in why LB has a title and Flip doesnt.

Of course Dungver is playing a horrible zone. I think they may have switched it, but before the middle was constantly open.

Maxiell likes to talk trash after blocks i'm starting to notice. Swatted Kenyon Martin and politely explained to him it was all ball.
