View Full Version : Your pick for Eastern Conference Champion Timone 03-17-2008, 05:05 PM I'm only putting 4 options. Sorry Glenn, you won't be able to vote for Philly. Timone 03-17-2008, 05:07 PM Don't know how I fucked up again, but at least I got it right in only two attempts! darkobetterthanmelo 03-17-2008, 05:09 PM Where is the "Larry Brown coached Pistons" option? Honestly, look at these coaches. Flip Saunders (lindesy and theo off the bench!), Doc Rivers (just give it to garnett and move around), Mike Brown (deer in headlights) and Stan Van Gundy (my brother is better looking and a better coach.) Timone 03-17-2008, 05:10 PM (my brother is better looking and a better coach.) Ooooook. Big Swami 03-17-2008, 05:11 PM Where is the "Larry Brown coached Pistons" option? I can think of 5 guys in Detroit (and one in Cleveland) who are thinking the exact same thing. Timone 03-17-2008, 05:13 PM Let's not get into that, lol. I'll cry. Timone 03-17-2008, 05:18 PM It sucks to think that the Pistons won't make it out of the East again. It's like there's no point in watching them the rest of the season/playoffs. Zekyl 03-17-2008, 07:08 PM I hate to vote Boston but I think they'll take down LeBron and Phillip will screw it up for us. FP22 03-17-2008, 08:25 PM Based on what I've seen so far, we'll take it up the ol' poop shoot against Boston. DrRay11 03-17-2008, 08:29 PM FP22 and I are on the same page. Up the poopshoot it is. Timone 03-17-2008, 08:30 PM I like poopshoots. Zekyl 03-17-2008, 08:45 PM I like poopshoots. Might want to specify on that one SDB Timone 03-17-2008, 08:46 PM I like sticking it up girls' poopshoots. It's no secret, I have an anal fetish/obsession. MoTown 03-17-2008, 09:15 PM :motown owns: Tahoe 03-17-2008, 09:38 PM Boston will be the 1 seed and we'll get them in the ECFs. Wilfredo Ledezma 03-17-2008, 10:16 PM I think Detroit can win the East. I'll be interested in seeing how much of a fit Cleveland gives Boston in the 2nd round. I think that could be the key for the Pistons advancing to the Finals, if LeBron gives them 7 games, and we take care of business w/ Orlando (which I expect to go 5 games max), than I think we'd have an outstanding shot at knocking off Boston. I got Pistons/Spurs in the Finals... Zekyl 03-17-2008, 11:13 PM Do you think going against Howard would sufficiently motivate Sheed? I think after Howard postarizes him a few times in the first game, Sheed would get fired up to stick it to the young guy throughout the series. Atticus771 03-18-2008, 12:40 AM I'll be bold and predict we get a Pistons-Cavs ECF. LeBron is better than KG, Allen, and Pierce, and he (notice I say "he," not "they," as in reference to the Cavs) will give everything he has to get by them, and he'll have nothing left in the tank. We'll subsequently pound the Cavs and move onto the Finals. Kstat 03-18-2008, 01:01 AM I'm going to predict the Cavs won't get out of the first round. That is a shitty team. They actually played like a team last year. LeBron or no LeBron, they are not as good this year. Defensively, they took like 5 steps back. LBJ had more control over the game when the Cavs were holding teams to 93ppg. Now they're giving up 100 regularly, and his one-man offense isn't as dominating. Zekyl 03-18-2008, 08:33 AM If the Cavs go against Boston, I'm with Kstat. LeBron can only do so much against a team that has 3 all-stars. He'll carry his team to 2-3 wins, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a 7 game series, but in the end it will all be on him. If they ever want to go anywhere they'd better get him a supporting cast. Rondo will be able to guard Boobie. Ben has no O, I don't recall Verajao having much O either beyond offensive boards. Timone 03-18-2008, 09:12 AM I like the LeBrons to at least make it to the 2nd round. It's the least they could do after embarassing us even more when they got their asses kicked in the Finals last season. Timone 03-18-2008, 09:13 AM Oh and since I'm a KG fan and I'm rooting for him (if the Pistons don't win the East), does that mean I'm rooting for the Celtics? Shit. Wilfredo Ledezma 03-18-2008, 11:06 AM Do you think going against Howard would sufficiently motivate Sheed? I think after Howard postarizes him a few times in the first game, Sheed would get fired up to stick it to the young guy throughout the series. Sheed can keep Dwight modest. Remember, Dwight has no mid-range jumper and is a 50% FT shooter...Theo should see plenty of minutes Vs. Orlando... Key Vs. Orlando will be 2nd chance points...we will need to rebound well to prevent having to draw out the series...I think it won't be a problem, Orlando has no backcourt and they are terrible defensively WTFchris 03-18-2008, 11:59 AM I'm going to predict the Cavs won't get out of the first round. That is a shitty team. I agree the Cavs aren't scary, but who is going to take them out in the first round? The Raptors are the only ones that can do that IMO, and they can't seem to stay healthy. But they do have the Lebron stopper: http://www.brettbanducci.com/graphics/delfino.jpg Glenn 03-27-2008, 02:28 PM Poll tied, eh? Wizzle 03-27-2008, 02:40 PM not anymore.....sorry fellas Big Swami 03-27-2008, 11:18 PM Yeah. Sorry guys, the Pistons are good, but not nearly good enough. geerussell 03-28-2008, 04:26 AM We're so going to revisit this thread in june. Big Swami 03-28-2008, 10:29 AM We're so going to revisit this thread in june. And I will accept my fair share of shit should I turn out to be wrong. But I'm not going to be wrong. Timone 03-28-2008, 10:31 AM We're so going to revisit this thread in june. Are those who picked the Celtics going to get an award or something? Zekyl 03-28-2008, 11:34 AM Yay, I want an award. geerussell 03-28-2008, 02:43 PM Are those who picked the Celtics going to get an award or something? Everyone who correctly picked the winner will receive an official marvel no-prize. Uncle Mxy 03-28-2008, 10:48 PM http://www.newsfromme.com/images2/noprize.jpg Glenn 03-29-2008, 07:57 AM I'm just curious to find out if anyone here has any specific reasons why they think the Celtics won't win the East? Timone 03-29-2008, 09:25 AM Good question, but you know you're going to get some response that drips with homerism. geerussell 03-29-2008, 09:39 AM Indiana. Phoenix. Dallas. Detroit. After being hit over the head with the "regular season doesn't mean shit" stick for several consecutive seasons now, I'm not going to go and crown Boston prematurely. They're a dominant team and it could fairly be said they should win the east based on their record and play so far... but then again it is just the regular season. That group is newly assembled and has to prove it can hold up in the playoffs. Big Swami 03-29-2008, 10:26 AM The only scenario I can think of in which Boston doesn't win the East is one in which the key players become too exhausted by their regular season achievements to play aggressively in the playoffs. There are 3 reasons why I don't think this will happen, however: 1) The key players on the Celtics are known for drive and athleticism. 2) There haven't been any periods of exhaustion yet this season that would indicate that it would happen in the playoffs. You'd think there would be some signs, but there aren't any. 3) The winning record accumulated by Boston this season doesn't seem to have really been much of an effort for them. There were a few really brutal grind-it-out games, but not many. Nobody's made the Celtics work for it, so they're probably going to go into the postseason fresh as a daisy. Wilfredo Ledezma 03-29-2008, 10:47 AM I'm just curious to find out if anyone here has any specific reasons why they think the Celtics won't win the East? Doc < Flip While I think both are mediocre at best, Flip has accomplished alot more in this league than Doc has, and that includes in the playoffs... Plus, Ray-Ray is going to be coasting on fumes come playoff time. (38 minutes per game) Wilfredo Ledezma 03-29-2008, 10:49 AM I think the Cavs will also give them fits in Round 2. LeBron has torched Boston twice this year and the Cavs, as of late, have been playing better on the defensive side of the ball. Cavs are 2-1 Vs. Boston when LBJ plays (0-1 when LBJ doesn't play). |
