View Full Version : Governor of NY admits involvement in prostitution ring Glenn 03-10-2008, 02:20 PM Kwame is a poseur. Tahoe 03-10-2008, 02:46 PM I friggin signed back on just for this story. These piece of shit prosecutor types are pieces of shit. Fuckin hypocrite cocksuckers. They set up on the throne and fuck with peeps. These guys and child molestors need harsh punishment. Glenn 03-10-2008, 02:54 PM N.Y. Times: New York governor linked to prostitution Spitzer meeting with aides over report, paper reports NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Times is reporting that New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer has told senior advisers that he had been involved in a prostitution ring. On its Web site, the newspaper cites an anonymous administration official as the source and says Spitzer was meeting with his top aides. Spitzer officials wouldn't immediately comment on the story to The Associated Press. An announcement was scheduled for 2:15 p.m. at his Manhattan office. Announcement expected shortly Eyewitness News NEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York Times is reporting that Governor Eliot Spitzer has told senior advisers that he has ties to a prostitution ring. Eyewitness News is told Spitzer will make an announcement Monday afternoon. Spitzer officials wouldn't immediately comment on the story. Spitzer, 48, is married and has three daughters. Details about the prostitution ring were not immediately clear, but last week federal prosecutors in Manhattan filed conspiracy charges against four people accusing them of running a prostitution ring that charged wealthy clients in Europe and the U.S. thousands of dollars for prostitutes. The Times reported that a person with knowledge of the governor's role believes the governor is identified as a client in court papers. The Web site of the Emperors Club VIP displays photographs of the prostitutes' bodies, with their faces hidden, along with hourly rates depending on whether the prostitutes were rated with one diamond, the lowest ranking, or seven diamonds, the highest. The most highly ranked prostitutes cost $5,500 an hour, prosecutors said. Spitzer has built his political legacy on rooting out corruption. He made headlines battling Wall Street while serving as attorney general. He won an historic share of the vote for governor in 2006, and took office vowing to continue his no-nonsense approach to fixing one of the nation's worst governments. His time as governor has been marred by several problems, though, including an unpopular plan to grant driver's licenses to illegal immigrants and a plot by his aides to smear Spitzer's main Republican nemesis. In 2004, he was part of an investigation of an escort service in New York City that resulted in the arrest of 18 people on charges of promoting prostitution and related charges. Glenn 03-10-2008, 03:01 PM Is this guy a superdelegate? geerussell 03-10-2008, 04:03 PM Busted is what you can see! The phrasing used in the news reports is kind of weird. They all say "is involved in" or "has ties to" which to me implies more than just a client but someone that's actually part of the organization in some way. Then you get down to the details and it says just a client. If that's all he did and there's no criminal coverup or obstruction of justice, etc... then I don't see where it's a hanging offense. He'll take his lumps in the court of public opinion and voters will sort it out next time he's up for election. MoTown 03-10-2008, 04:03 PM How the hell do you even get involved in that in the first place? How do these people think there's a chance that they won't get caught? Glenn 03-10-2008, 04:10 PM If that's all he did and there's no criminal coverup or obstruction of justice, etc... then I don't see where it's a hanging offense. He'll take his lumps in the court of public opinion and voters will sort it out next time he's up for election. One of the NY TV stations is reporting that he will step down. geerussell 03-10-2008, 04:11 PM How the hell do you even get involved in that in the first place? How do these people think there's a chance that they won't get caught? It's called thinking with the little brain. Glenn 03-10-2008, 04:13 PM This guy's story is amazing if you feel like reading up on him. Sounds like he made his career fighting corruption. Whoops. Glenn 03-10-2008, 04:52 PM Spitzer's involvement in the ring was caught on a federal wiretap as part of an investigation opened in recent months, according to a law enforcement official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing inquiry. The New York Democrat, identified in legal papers as "Client 9," met last month with at least one woman in a Washington hotel, the law enforcement official said. The prostitution ring, identified in court papers as the Emperors Club VIP, arranged connections between wealthy men and more than 50 prostitutes in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, London and Paris, prosecutors said. Four people allegedly connected to the high-end ring were arrested last week. "Client 9" has a very nice ring to it. Movie deal? Glenn 03-10-2008, 04:54 PM "Client 9" has a very nice ring to it. Movie deal? Man, that was fast. http://client9.com/ Click on the FAQ. Big Swami 03-10-2008, 05:30 PM This is fucking sad. Spitzer was one of the great highlights of liberalism. Uncle Mxy 03-10-2008, 06:54 PM His wife is reasonably attractive, too. http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/78204784.jpg?v=1&c=ViewImages&k=2&d=17A4AD9FDB9CF1937B8C00E1EDBEE48C53970751436654D1 284831B75F48EF45 Tahoe 03-10-2008, 07:26 PM BTW.... I don't care if he's... a Dem a Rep a Lib or a conservative hes IS a fuckin bastard. BTWx2 I think prostitution should be legalized BTWx3 He's still a fuckface. Tahoe 03-10-2008, 07:26 PM If there was nothing to the story he wouldn't have cancelled his appearances today. Tahoe 03-10-2008, 07:34 PM The prostitute said he wanted to do something 'COMPLETELY UNSAFE'. PERV ALERT! Tahoe 03-10-2008, 07:36 PM Pretty cool the fuckin FBI had a prostitute go undercover that led to the bust of the Emperors club. I guess she and client 9 got a lil jiggy wid it. Tahoe 03-10-2008, 07:36 PM That undercover shit is kind of fucked up though too. Tahoe 03-10-2008, 07:55 PM You know I guess ther is a political element to this. Since all the Dems/Libs were so dictitorial(<-not the right word, but it kind of sounds right for what I'm thinking) about Bob Bennet when it came out that he gambled while touting family values or something. So this is kind of payback, i guess. But for me, i could care less. I hate fucking prosecutors. Glenn 03-10-2008, 08:10 PM He reminds me of somebody, but I can't place it. Bill Cowher? Tahoe 03-10-2008, 08:15 PM Yoda? Spock? Uncle Mxy 03-10-2008, 10:32 PM This is fucking sad. Spitzer was one of the great highlights of liberalism. No way. Government prosecutors aren't liberal, almost by definition. Liberals are FIGHTING the man, without the dichotomy of BEING the man. He'd done a great job as attorney general, and most people gained from his taking it to Wall Street institutions. But he's been a big letdown as NY governor. At the rate he was falling, Bloomberg was gonna take him out in 2010 if he wanted to. The Peter Principle was gonna get him in one form or another. Every sex worker will tell you that prosecutors and elected politicians have the most twisted sex needs. I bet he's big into BDSM. I'm surprised he didn't get caught sooner, with all the enemies he made. I'm wondering who tipped off the initial investigation, which involved bribery charges. There's been conflicting reports on that. One report suggests he did funny wire transfers, but another suggests he paid in cash. And what does this "Kristen" chick look like? geerussell 03-10-2008, 11:25 PM His wife is reasonably attractive, too. http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/78204784.jpg?v=1&c=ViewImages&k=2&d=17A4AD9FDB9CF1937B8C00E1EDBEE48C53970751436654D1 284831B75F48EF45 It doesn't matter how hot the trophy wife is. That's still the face that nags you every day. geerussell 03-11-2008, 12:12 PM http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/11/nyregion/11inquire.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin Dude set up shell companies to move money around to hide what he was spending on prostitutes and in the process sent up every red flag in the world that he was involved in some kind of major political corruption. I guess all those years of investigating corruption made his first instinct to mimic their methods when it came time for him to do something shady. Uncle Mxy 03-11-2008, 01:27 PM No, he didn't set up the shell corporations. The prostitution ring did. The murky parts are: 1) Why the IRS would care about thousands in cash? Bribes? Fuck, Spitzer's loaded, financially. His family business is Manhattan real estate, and they're just a hair south of being in the billionaire range. The man can use thousands of dollars as toilet paper, and judging from how much he overpaid for Kristen's services, it seems he did. If he'd been doing this for a long time, it'd have been part of his normal transactional history since he's been governor. 2) Was he really stupid enough to do an EFT or the like from his accounts to the shell corporations? Of ALL people, I'd expect him to know how stupid this is. I have a hard time believing it was a case of the little brain trumping the big brain, but I don't have enough details to be sure. Everything I've read suggests that he dealt in cash only. If that's true, then either they physically tailed him, OR they already were tipped about the prostitution. Tahoe 03-11-2008, 02:03 PM I thought he was involved with running the thing. It looks like he just got some tail. Mxy the reason was, from what I understand, is that they saw all the money moves and thought he was doing the bribe thing. Uncle Mxy 03-11-2008, 04:18 PM An investigation of "why was a few grand withdrawn here and there" typically ENDS with "oh, he's in the hundred millon dollar trust fund baby club". That's all I'm saying. Judging from the "structuring" charges the media is talking about, the magnitude of dollars wasn't big by "rich dude" standards... probably under $50-100k in total as of the start of the investigation. It'd be like a regular guy withdrawing $500 from an ATM in $100 increments over time. Sure, he may be using it to pay for his $200/hour hookers, but those dollar amounts for normal people just aren't a big deal. And Spitzer, of all people, would've known what triggers bank investigations. WTFchris 03-11-2008, 05:04 PM Not that I condone the governor's behavior, but why is prostitution illegal? Afterall, it is sex between two consenting adults. This is also a capitalistic society where you can sell anything you legally own as long as someone is willing to pay for it. So why is it outlawed? I can understand censorship of it (keeping it off the streets, out of the media, etc), but the rest doesn't really make sense to me. I don't think it's the act of paying for sex that people object to (after all some dates are essentially that), but a fear of if being legal allowing it to be more widespread and in the open. Glenn 03-11-2008, 05:05 PM It's all about the kids, Chris WTFchris 03-11-2008, 05:07 PM I even think if you could make it legal and have "clinics" (or whatever you would call them besides whore houses), you could have STD tests and everything done at these places and it would help limit the spread of STD's from underground sex shops. I see nothing bad about having a licensed sex shop that is clean and professional (just like a sperm doner bank or salon). WTFchris 03-11-2008, 05:09 PM It's all about the kids, Chris well, that is a media/parenting/exposure problem. kids aren't supposed to watch R movies or drink beer. Should we outlaw that as well? I'm so sick of a society of parents that blame everyone but themselves. Parents simply don't take responsibility for keeping their kids in school, doing homework, preventing sex and drug use, etc. It's always someone else's fault. Timone 03-11-2008, 05:12 PM Not that I condone the governor's behavior, but why is prostitution illegal? Seconded. Uncle Mxy 03-11-2008, 05:42 PM It's just a matter of geography for most here. Go to Windsor... it's legal there. Tahoe 03-11-2008, 06:50 PM I even think if you could make it legal and have "clinics" (or whatever you would call them besides whore houses), you could have STD tests and everything done at these places and it would help limit the spread of STD's from underground sex shops. I see nothing bad about having a licensed sex shop that is clean and professional (just like a sperm doner bank or salon). They're called massage parlors out here. Happy ending are extra though. I know this isn't what you are getting at, but my buddy's brother is a friggin cop and they go there. geerussell 03-12-2008, 12:15 AM No, he didn't set up the shell corporations. The prostitution ring did. Ah yes. I mis-read that. My bad. Was he really stupid enough to do an EFT or the like from his accounts to the shell corporations? Of ALL people, I'd expect him to know how stupid this is. Never talk when you can nod, never nod when you can wink and never write down anything in an email because you give a prosecutor all the evidence he needs. Jon Stewart dug up that clip from 2006. Yeah, you would expect him to know. Glenn 03-12-2008, 11:00 AM Resignation. WTFchris 03-12-2008, 11:08 AM They're called massage parlors out here. Happy ending are extra though. I know this isn't what you are getting at, but my buddy's brother is a friggin cop and they go there. Well, you are sort of making my point. The industry could be descrete and safe at the same time and you might actually do something to help the rampant STD's. In fact, I saw on the news last night that 1 in 4 teenage girls are infected with an STD. Not good. geerussell 03-12-2008, 12:47 PM Well, you are sort of making my point. The industry could be descrete and safe at the same time and you might actually do something to help the rampant STD's. In fact, I saw on the news last night that 1 in 4 teenage girls are infected with an STD. Not good. The only thing that's going to help the 1 in 4 teenage girls is getting them informed at an early enough age to make a difference... and that will never happen. Anything that acts to mitigate the consequences of sex--birth control, education, HPV vaccine, etc--is viewed as encouragement and opposed. People are stupid. Big Swami 03-12-2008, 01:01 PM Daddy Gee is right. Some people (who are not very wise) are opposed to teaching teenagers about sex because they think it will encourage them. In reality, the more they know, the more they are steered away from trying it too early in life. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Uncle Mxy 03-12-2008, 01:35 PM Jon Stewart dug up that clip from 2006. Yeah, you would expect him to know. It was his efforts as NY AG that LED to some of the better tracking banks do today. It turns out I was mistaken about how smart this guy was, though: http://www.newsday.com/news/local/state/ny-stroot125610523mar12,0,4868125.story Spitzer last year had wanted to wire transfer more than $10,000 from his branch to what turned out to be the front for the prostitution ring, QAT Consulting Group, which also uses a number of other names, in New Jersey, the sources said. But Spitzer had the money broken down into several smaller amounts of less than $10,000 each, apparently to avoid federal regulations requiring the reporting of the transfer of $10,000 or more, the sources said. The regulations aim to help spot possible illegal business activities, such as fraud or drug deals. Apparently, having second thoughts about even sending the total amount this way, Spitzer then asked that the bank take his name off the wires, the sources said. Bank officials declined, however, saying that it was improper to do so and in any event, it was too late because the money already had been sent, the sources said. So, instead of paying in cash, he WIRES money, then TALKS TO THE BANK TO TRY AND BACK OUT?!?! Yeah, that would've raised the red flags I thought he was smart enough not to have raised. Wowzers! Given his personal wealth, no one would've blinked had he withdrawn cash, or simply diverted profits from a fund into something more readily converted into relatively-small amounts of cash (e.g. precious metals). Fuck, this shit isn't hard. Even I know how to do this, and I only play a criminal online. ;) He must've subconsciously wanted to get caught. Uncle Mxy 03-13-2008, 04:37 PM You realize there's more financial protections for Joe Consumer nationwide as a result of his overzealous prosecution tactics. His actions were key in taking Enron's cronies down, reducing the prices of consumer computer memory, and more money in your retirement accounts by eliminating a few shady financial practices. He's basically the Democratic incarnation of Rudy Giuliani, another prosecutor with dodgy personal ethics who nonetheless did a lot of good in his prosecuting role. Tahoe 03-13-2008, 05:17 PM He did a lot of shit too. I don't see forgiving his shit cuz he did some good. Glenn 03-19-2008, 01:22 PM Spitzer escort's 'Girls Gone Wild' videos surface LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Stop that $1 million check: It turns out the call girl linked to Eliot Spitzer had already shed her clothes for "Girls Gone Wild" as an 18-year-old while partying in Miami, Florida, the video company's founder said Tuesday. Ashley Alexandra Dupre stars in seven "Girls Gone Wild" videos made when she was 18. Joe Francis reached out to Ashley Alexandra Dupre, now 22, with an offer of $1 million to appear in a non-nude spread for his company's new magazine, plus a chance to join the "Girls Gone Wild" tour bus, his company announced Tuesday. But Francis said someone had a revelation at the Tuesday morning staff meeting: Did anyone think to check the archives? They did, he said -- and there she was. "It'll save me a million bucks," Francis said Tuesday. "It's kind of like finding a winning lottery ticket in the cushions of your couch." Francis said at that point, his offer was off the table: "We actually had been dealing with her rep," he said. "Our [offer] was the real deal. We just never made the connection." He said his employees got to work on pulling the footage and planned to offer it on the Web site by Tuesday evening, with a free sampling on the front page and the rest available with a $29.95 monthly subscription. According to a "Girls Gone Wild" press release, Dupre visited Miami in 2003 to celebrate her 18th birthday. After fighting with a friend and getting thrown out of her hotel, Dupre found a nearby "Girls Gone Wild" bus, the company said. She signed legal papers and spent a full week on the bus, filming seven full-length tapes that included nudity and same-sex encounters, according to the company. "I personally ended up buying her a Greyhound bus ticket back home to North Carolina," Francis said. Francis returned to California last week after being sentenced to time served and fines in Florida in a case involving filming underage girls. He still faces trial on federal tax evasion charges that carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. Dupre's public profile has skyrocketed since Spitzer, the New York governor, announced his resignation last week amid the prostitution scandal. He was accused of spending tens of thousands of dollars on prostitutes, including a February tryst with a call girl named "Kristen," since identified as Dupre. Dupre's MySpace page was hit more than 5 million times in the days immediately after the scandal broke. Her musical efforts, including two songs posted at the music sharing site Aime Street, were listened to hundreds of thousands of times and played on national airwaves. Hustler publisher Larry Flynt told AP Friday that he e-mailed Dupre offering her $1 million to appear nude in his magazine, but didn't sound optimistic that she would settle for that amount. Flynt suggested that by the time Dupre starts talking, she may be too big a media phenomenon for a simple magazine spread. "She is no doubt going to do a book. There will probably be a movie," he said. "I think she is going to have so many offers coming in that it will probably be wishful thinking just to get in the door." MoTown 03-19-2008, 01:43 PM LOL.
