View Full Version : WORST RUMOR EVER - MARBURY TO DETROIT!?
Jethro34 03-08-2008, 09:01 AM From the NY Post blogs
Stephon Marbury and Flip Saunders spent several minutes in the back room of the locker room conversing. If Marbury is bought out, Detroit may beckon. Marbury loves Saunders and vice-versa.
Hopefully Marc Berman thoughts are independent of the fact that Dumars values chemistry and Marbury is a cancer. Just because one former Piston Hall of Famer made a mistake with a headcase doesn't mean another one will.

MoTown 03-08-2008, 09:35 AM Marbury's leadership and talent would be an asset to the Pistons. It's the best chance the Pistons have to win a championship. He's a proven winner and he helps chemistry in every city he's in. He's the definition of "selfless." If I'm Dumars, I pull the trigger. Just make sure we make him happy and let him know we're looking to sign him long term, so even though he'll be taking less at first, he'll make at least $10 mil per year when the year is over.
We should go after Jason "White Chocolate" Williams as well.
Wilfredo Ledezma 03-08-2008, 09:42 AM Stephon Marbury is a has-been. He has nothing to offer a championship contender anymore. He's still a terrible shooter and a lousy defender. His ball-handeling skills have diminished, and he's not going to dish out 10 dimes like he used too...
Take a flyer, and let him sign with Cleveland...
Cross 03-08-2008, 11:01 AM I hope jamal crawford gets bought out instead. We dont need this dumbass...*waiting for glenn to post up the marbury vids
Joe Asberry 03-08-2008, 11:43 AM this is BS anyway, a player has to be waived by March 1st, to be eligible for the playoffs if he signs with another team...
b-diddy 03-08-2008, 12:24 PM i wouldnt, just cuz thats less pt for stuck.
but if joe thought it would work i would too. i realize joe puts a ton of effort into bringing in the "right mix". but i think a steph mar would change his ways in detroit. plus marburry has already said he's pretty much spent, as a player.
WTFchris 03-08-2008, 12:36 PM I wouldn't bring him in for free. He has less than a 10 cent head.
Big Swami 03-08-2008, 01:18 PM Dude, it's the Post. They're always full of shit.

Not so fast, Willy. There's a power broker pulling the strings, here....

Listen, whenever you read or hear a report (especially one from the New York tabloids) that says so-and-so player might be coming to Detroit because he was seen talking to Flip Saunders, or the player is coming to Detroit because he has a great relationship with Flip Saunders -- disregard it immediately. Saunders is the coach of the Pistons. He has almost zero influence on personnel decisions. Joe Dumars calls all the personnel shots. You know what I am talking about -- there is no validity to the chatter that Stephon Marbury is coming to the Pistons or that the Pistons have any interest whatsoever in bringing Marbury here -- not this year, not next year. Billups just signed a five-year deal and Rodney Stuckey is the point guard-in-waiting. No room at the Inn for Steph.
Thanks for clearing that all up, chief.
b-diddy 03-11-2008, 03:11 PM whenever mckauskywrites one of these snarky articles, i almost feel like hes grabbing me by the lapel and shoving me against a wall while i read it.
its fantastic.
Glenn 03-11-2008, 03:13 PM Listen, whenever you read or hear a report by any Pistons beat writer (especially one from the snarkiest, most arrogant "insider" around) -- disregard it immediately. It's what I do with all of your comments, for sure.

That is the best description of a McCosky article I have ever heard. Props b-diddy.
Higherwarrior 03-11-2008, 09:39 PM it can't and won't happen for one reason: there aren't enough razors in the lockerroom to keep both billups' and marbury's big globes clean shaven.
Uncle Mxy 03-11-2008, 10:26 PM BREAKING!!!
The NY Post says that Joe Dumars will let Stephon Marbury wear #3. Chauncey Billups is rumored to be pissed off, and may be traded to Isiah in exchange for Marbury.
