View Full Version : Your favorite song(s) ever
Glenn 02-26-2008, 09:23 AM I know it is cliche, but mine has to be Stairway.
I heard it on the way to work today and it put me in a good mood.
If I'm in the right state of mind, hearing it can give me goosebumps.
Tahoe 02-26-2008, 10:23 AM Not trying to be a GD hanger onner or anything like that, but that was the first song that popped into my head. Some of the Beetles songs are up there. Have to give this one some thought.
MoTown 02-26-2008, 10:25 AM No offense, but I'm not sure you can like a band or song unless you were actually a part of the band.
Bootlicks.
Zekyl 02-26-2008, 12:03 PM I agree with MoTown
Glenn 02-26-2008, 02:16 PM You guys suck, this thread should be epic.
Other favorites of mine that just fall short of Stairway:
Elvis- Little Sister
Elvis- In the ghetto
The Cult- Love Removal Machine
Danzig- End of Time
Concrete Blonde- Dance Along the Edge
The Sister of Mercy- This Corrosion
U2- Silver and Gold
Johnny Cash/June Carter Cash- Jackson
Teenage Fanclub- Neil Jung
DrRay11 02-26-2008, 04:43 PM Technically, this thread cannot be epic and you just destroyed it. Everyone is to post one, singular "song." Not songs. You're gahbage.
That means everyone would post once, and that takes deep time and thought, you shitpack. After that, they shan't post another favorite song. Therefore, this thread may not be epic.
Cumguzzler.
Zekyl 02-26-2008, 05:14 PM E-Ray with the hostility.

E-vil Ray = your new name?
Timone 02-26-2008, 05:41 PM By the way, MY favorite song (even though it isn't) is "Mother" by Danzig. ;)
Will I finally be "made" now?
Uncle Mxy 02-26-2008, 07:23 PM I'll go with Here Comes The Sun, on the theory that it was the first song that came into mind when I read this. If I think about it, I'm sure I'll come up with songs I like just as much, but I doubt that I'd come up with songs I like more.
Glenn 02-26-2008, 08:57 PM "song(s)"
fixed

Timone 02-26-2008, 09:02 PM Mine's either "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys or "Tearin' Up My Heart" by N*SYNC.
Glenn 02-26-2008, 09:11 PM "Here Comes the Sun" is a good choice, Mxy
Timone 02-26-2008, 09:14 PM Glenn, if more people start saying "Here Comes The Sun" are you going to change your mind?
Timone 02-26-2008, 09:17 PM I want Zip's list so they can become my favorites.

WTFchris 02-27-2008, 12:12 PM Stairway is of course up there. I've always loved Thunder Underground by Ozzie, Outlaw Torn by Metallica and Sweet Child of Mine by GNR for their guitar work as well.
I can never hear enough "Drift Away" (though I like the UK version a little better with the duet), "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Shook me all night long"
Those are always good.
WTFchris 02-27-2008, 12:16 PM Mine's either "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys or "Tearin' Up My Heart" by N*SYNC.
What? No "I'm a Slave 4 U" ?
Tahoe 02-27-2008, 12:29 PM The allman brothers did some good stuff too. Jess, etc. Feel good stuff.
Deciding on a single song the beetles made would be tough. They have so many hits they'd prolly have to be my fav band of all time.
Love this one...sucks just waiting for the 2-3 minute mark where McCartney starts getting funky wid it.

Tahoe 02-27-2008, 12:32 PM I'm tellin ya, we need a "music" forum.
DrRay11 02-27-2008, 01:14 PM I wouldn't be opposed to that.

Melissa (or is it Sweet Melissa?) is also up there for me.
Soulshine is good too.
Big Swami 02-27-2008, 08:14 PM OK the Jeff Buckley song is still my favorite but here's another really good one.

Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"
Green Day "Good Riddance"
The Verve "Lucky Man"
Portishead "Roads"
Linkin Park "From the Inside"
Crystal Method "Born too Slow"
Chingon "Malaguena Salerosa"
The Charlatans "Weirdo"
The Beatles "Across the Universe" and "Yesterday"
Vinny 02-27-2008, 10:35 PM I'm surprised I haven't heard any "Blackbird" for the Beatles. Definitely one of my favorites. I really like Achilles' Last Stand for Zeppelin. God, I could name 100.
Tahoe 02-27-2008, 10:43 PM another song I really like from the beetles is Blackbird
Timone 02-27-2008, 11:50 PM Listening to "Over The Hills and Far Away" by Zeppelin right now. This one is up there as well.
Vinny 02-28-2008, 03:34 AM When I was like 16, Operation Ivy - Bad Town (Really the whole album) was my favorite song.
Timone 02-28-2008, 08:25 AM Ok, UPDATED as of now:
Pearl Jam "Black"
Temple of the Dog "Hunger Strike"
Eric Clapton "My Father's Eyes"
Eric Clapton "Tears in Heaven"
Derek and the Dominos "Layla"
U2 "With Or Without You"
There's others as well.
I can't pick a favorite out of them, but they're all up there...
Glenn 02-29-2008, 09:18 AM A few more
The Jayhawks - Bad Time
Neil Diamond - Solitary Man
REM - Rockville
Rush - Red Sector A
Big Swami 02-29-2008, 09:46 AM The Jayhawks - Bad Time
Good taste.
Neil Diamond - Solitary Man
Nice.
REM - Rockville
Excellent!
Rush - Red Sector A
Ooooooh, you were doing so well there.
Glenn 02-29-2008, 09:55 AM Rush is one of those love them or hate them bands.
I think the entire "Grace Under Pressure" album is incredible.
Timone 02-29-2008, 09:56 AM Almost everyone I know likes Rush.
Everyone = my mom.
Glenn 02-29-2008, 09:57 AM Is your mom single?
Should I go there?
Timone 02-29-2008, 10:01 AM I thought you learned your lesson after Bubbles called you out for fucking his cousin?
You know...I like a little bit of Rush too...
Big Swami 02-29-2008, 03:18 PM I was 13 years old and playing Intellivision in my friend's basement and listening to Rush when he broke out Double Nickels On The Dime by The Minutemen. The heavens opened and an army of avenging angels seized my Rush LP and flung it out the window. "Listen thou not to such crappy prog rock," said the angels. "The LORD thy god hast commanded thee to go out and buy a Black Flag record tomorrow. Also, throw away your Dungeons & Dragons playset and learn how to talk to girls, Poindexter."
Glenn 02-29-2008, 03:28 PM Harsh.
Big Swami 02-29-2008, 04:27 PM I'm just testifying to the heavenly power of punk rock.
DrRay11 02-29-2008, 04:51 PM My roommate loves Rush. Me, not so much.
Glenn 02-29-2008, 04:58 PM A couple of the finest musicians on the planet in that band.
Geddy is incredible on the bass, especially if you throw in that he's often playing bass pedals with his feet whilst playing keyboard with his hands.
And you can't say enough about Neal Peart on drums. Dude is awesome.
Uncle Mxy 03-01-2008, 10:06 AM I wouldn't leave Lifeson out of the picture. He has serious chops, and his instrumental soundtrack stuff outside of Rush is more listenable than what Rush is doing these days (though I haven't heard much of their very latest stuff). I saw them in concert in the 80s at Joe Louis... an awesome show.

Tahoe 03-07-2008, 09:55 PM Pink Floyd..Dark Side or others should get a shout out in this thread.
Maybe some of the Stones stuff.
Big Swami 03-07-2008, 11:03 PM "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" is seriously one of the greatest songs in the history of the world.
Wilfredo Ledezma 03-07-2008, 11:16 PM Of All Time:
Through The Wire- Kanye West...it was his first ever hit, and I could listen to it non-stop...

b-diddy 03-09-2008, 12:26 AM HihOo3YxOAQ&feature=related
not my favorite, but up there.
Glenn 03-09-2008, 02:52 PM I'll probably get ragged on a bit for this one, but John Mellencamp's "I need a lover" always puts me in a good mood, as does "Pink Houses".
Robert Plant's "Ship of Fools" is up there for me, too.
mercury 03-09-2008, 02:58 PM A couple favs from the 60's and 70's...
Animals - Sky Pilot
Spirit - Natures Way
b-diddy 03-09-2008, 03:36 PM hallelujah by various different artists is also one of my fav's.
i put a ton of thought into my 10 ten a while back. i think i had it worked out to something like
when the levee breaks - zep
dont worry baby - beach boys
good vibrations - beach boys
forever young - dylan
turn your lights down low - bob marley
Timone 03-15-2008, 09:29 AM Shout out to "Vincent" by Don McLean.
Timone 03-15-2008, 11:00 AM UPDATED LIST:
Layla - Derek and the Dominos
Tears in Heaven/My Father's Eyes - Clapton
Love Her Madly - The Doors
Tuesday's Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Black/Footsteps - Pearl Jam
Purple Haze - Hendrix
Vincent - Don McLean
Wheel In The Sky - Journey
Beautiful Day/With Or Without You - U2
And (to stay in character) everything by The Smiths and Oasis. Radiohead too.
Big Swami 03-16-2008, 04:41 PM Vincent is pretty much the only song I like by Don McLean. I have a CD full of him and Jim Croce, and I skip pretty much all the Don McLean songs.
Timone 03-16-2008, 04:46 PM It is a great song. Have liked it ever since I was a teen.
Haven't listened to his other stuff.
Timone 04-03-2008, 08:02 PM "Southern Man" by Neil Young is my favorite now.
Tahoe 04-03-2008, 08:12 PM DM does crying better than RO, imo. This is like a late 50s song. So keep that in mind b4 being too critical.
I bought DM's In my rear view mirror' and love some of those songs.
juxvkRDO2Nk
Tahoe 04-03-2008, 08:16 PM I like Vincent and Stary Stary Night too. gotcha
Timone 04-03-2008, 08:19 PM Vincent and Starry Starry Night are the same song.
Tahoe 04-03-2008, 08:21 PM I WHITE TEXTED YOU! That was supposed to be funny, but coming from me...not so funny.
Timone 04-03-2008, 08:23 PM D'oh!!
You've got an odd sense of humor, Tahoe.
Tahoe 04-03-2008, 08:26 PM One of those trickerations. Sorry.
