DON'T NUTHIN INCLUDE MELO!
The toughest opponent for the Pistons is always themselves.
MoTown 02-25-2008, 03:55 PM I can always count on Fool to find the mistake before I fix it.
WTFchris 02-25-2008, 04:16 PM Come on Pistons, win one in front of me. I was glad to see the blowout yesterday, saving the starters from some tired legs tonight. I hope to see Sheed posting up Gaymart all night and Billups abusing AI/Ellis in the paint also. The key to this game is stopping their guards from penetrating. Billups and RIP need to post early and get them in foul trouble IMO.
Glenn 02-25-2008, 04:19 PM FEAR JR SMITH
MoTown 02-25-2008, 04:21 PM Did you guys know that in June 2003, when the Pistons had the #2 pick, Carmelo Anthony was still on the board?
I just wanted to let you guys know, just in case you hadn't heard.
Glenn 02-25-2008, 04:28 PM "Shoulda taken Melo."
Nice call, Mo.
Atticus771 02-25-2008, 05:00 PM I've been playing ball with a couple friends from the Denver area all year, and both think the Melos are good enough to win a championship. Here's hoping we drop a 30 point loss on 'em to show 'em who's boss.
Final score prediction: 116 - 84

I remember that draft, it went something like this:
1) Jordan light, hometown hero for Cavs
2) The next KG, Cavs should take them but they'll overlook him
3) Some ball hog SF that isn't a complete player like Tay
4) Undersized center that is physically weak
5) Tweener guard that doesn't have a true position
6) slow center that played against weak competition
BTW, go back and read some of the comments on Darko and our other options here (click on their names):
http://www.nbadraft.net/2003.htm
Black Dynamite 02-25-2008, 05:23 PM darko was inevitable. no way out of that pick since i didnt want melo on our team.
But instead of delfino we shoulda drafted josh howard.
Darth Thanatos 02-25-2008, 06:26 PM I have no doubt in my mind that LB would have had Melo in line. If not, just dump him for picks. Since Melo has serious game, I'm sure we would have gotten more for him than Darko.
Zekyl 02-25-2008, 06:55 PM Redoing that draft, I'd take Bosh and one of the following:
Barbosa - Solid backup slasher PG
Howard - wishes he was Tayshaun, I believe his thing was "Disrespected" but I can't remember
Kapono - Excellent shooter, pure scoring off the bench
Mo Williams - Solid backup PG that could eventually be Billups successor
Timone 02-25-2008, 07:04 PM I'd like to see Rasheed play like he did yesterday, but he probably won't.
Vinny 02-25-2008, 08:35 PM BTW, go back and read some of the comments on Darko and our other options here (click on their names):

I think I need to go bump that 200 page Maciej Lampe appreciation thread on the NYK board at RGM.
geerussell 02-25-2008, 08:38 PM I'm keeping a list. A list of everyone who still brings up the 2003 draft. If I ever go postal you're all going down.
Pistons in a blowout.
DrRay11 02-25-2008, 08:39 PM But instead of delfino we shoulda drafted leandrinho barbosa.
Ficksed.
Timone 02-25-2008, 08:43 PM We should've drafted LeBron.
Damn you Cleveland.
Wilfredo Ledezma 02-25-2008, 09:06 PM We should've drafted LeBron.
Damn you Cleveland.
Do you know if he even came to Detroit for a pre-draft workout?? I'd like to see a list of the guys who we worked out prior to that draft.
I can't imagine Darko was THAT impressive compared to guys like Chris Bosh or even the buffer state Mike Sweetney...
Zekyl 02-25-2008, 09:15 PM LeBron didn't work out for anyone, I don't think. The Cavs knew they were drafting him the instant they got the #1 pick.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:15 PM Looks like this is going to be a great game.
Zekyl 02-25-2008, 09:16 PM Pistons playing pretty well so far. GREAT fast break after the steal by Billups. Nothing flashy, but they did exactly what they needed to do.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:16 PM I just noticed Camby doesn't even jump when he shoots.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:19 PM I love watching Carmelo play.
Zekyl 02-25-2008, 09:30 PM I just noticed Camby doesn't even jump when he shoots.
Probably why Max just blocked him straight up.
DrRay11 02-25-2008, 09:32 PM Brother Tayshaun having a good one.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:33 PM Very entertaining first quarter.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:35 PM If Denver gives up 118 or more yet again tonight, Screamin' A better reconsider picking them to win the West.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:36 PM JR Smith...weren't we supposed to trade Flip for him?
Zekyl 02-25-2008, 09:36 PM Glad we didn't. 60% of his shots are from downtown. It'd be like a second Jarvis Hayes.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:37 PM Better than letting Flip go for nothing (even though he sucked).
Zekyl 02-25-2008, 09:38 PM Very true, but I think we'd have let JR go for nothing to sign DD if we'd made that trade. Someone had to go to clear that roster spot.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:41 PM I'd take a bench with JR and Dixon over Flip and Primoz any day.
We still need a big like Dale though, so you're right about that...
DrRay11 02-25-2008, 09:48 PM Why aren't we winning by 15?
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:50 PM Why isn't Karl coaching the Nuggets tonight?
DrRay11 02-25-2008, 09:51 PM Stuckeybuns with the deuce.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:53 PM I'd like to see Rasheed play like he did yesterday, but he probably won't.
Timone 02-25-2008, 09:57 PM As much as I enjoy the pace of this one, they need to stop taking quick shots and bailing Denver's "defense" out.
Black Dynamite 02-25-2008, 10:57 PM LOL@ sheed having to remind Jarvis of where he was supposed to be yelling "high Jarvis! High Jarvis!"...
Also Hayes still sucks on defense. :(
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:04 PM Looks like one of those...hang around till the end and try to win it, games.
Black Dynamite 02-25-2008, 11:05 PM JR Smith...weren't we supposed to trade Flip for him?
I dont care for his chucking tendencies, but he is better than flip.
DrRay11 02-25-2008, 11:12 PM lol, JR Smith is 3/10 from 3.
Timone 02-25-2008, 11:14 PM Chauncey just absolutely schooled the Camby Man.
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:14 PM Should be cigar time
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:14 PM eray you from Canada? I'm thinking of a name
Higherwarrior 02-25-2008, 11:14 PM this is our game as long as we don't do anything stupid.
Timone 02-25-2008, 11:15 PM eray you from Canada? I'm thinking of a name
ehray?
DrRay11 02-25-2008, 11:16 PM eray you from Canada? I'm thinking of a name
No.
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:16 PM We didn't need Tay taking a shot from the top of the key there
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:17 PM hey eh, not bad SDB
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:17 PM Well where are you from? Detroit?
Timone 02-25-2008, 11:18 PM JR fouled on the 3 attempt, ouch.
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:18 PM Sheed seems to miss thosej
and a friggin foul holy shit
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:19 PM I'd stand as close to him as I could and rip the biggest fart I could
Atticus771 02-25-2008, 11:19 PM Allen Iverson to the line, he's been perfect there so far. Ahhh, he missed! I jinxed him; good!
Hilarious!
Atticus771 02-25-2008, 11:20 PM Foul? Foul?! FOUL?!! No, you've got to be joking.
Timone 02-25-2008, 11:20 PM Sheed seems to miss thosej
All the time.
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:20 PM Fart tactics always work.
Atticus771 02-25-2008, 11:20 PM Mark Champion = my hero. He's jinxed them twice now, seriously.
Timone 02-25-2008, 11:21 PM I don't know why they always run those plays for Sheed. He never makes those shots. Yeah he's usually open, but that doesn't even matter...
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:21 PM Was that WTFChris we just saw? Long hair, beard, John Deere hat, jeans jacket with a cheek full of chew?
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:23 PM Joey Crawford is a drama queen
Black Dynamite 02-25-2008, 11:24 PM Joey Crawford is a drama queen
Free Free Throws...Thanks Joey.

Timone 02-25-2008, 11:24 PM Joey Crawford is disappointed to see the Pistons are going to win.
I'm surprised this was only a 98-93 game, after it appeared at the start it was going to be in the 100s.
Tahoe 02-25-2008, 11:27 PM Good to win the first 2 cuz we'll prolly lose in Utah, right?
Timone 02-25-2008, 11:28 PM Losing to Utah is a given.
Atticus771 02-25-2008, 11:30 PM So, is "Pistons win" even a possibility for the OGT Poll?
Atticus771 02-25-2008, 11:31 PM So I realized tonight that I'm going to be near LA Saturday when the Pistons play the Clippers, yet I'm not going to be able to go to the game. What a wasted opportunity.
DrRay11 02-25-2008, 11:31 PM shouldn't be.
Higherwarrior 02-25-2008, 11:36 PM we haven't beat the jazz since they were the new orleans jazz. or at least it seems that way.
Wilfredo Ledezma 02-25-2008, 11:46 PM Losing to Utah is a given.
No doubt. The curse of Memo...
Joey Crawford lets us play some D. Other refs would make Tayshaun throw his hands up the air (and wave 'em like he just don't care. Long hair.)
Chauncey almost fucked it up. Wanted to wipe that shit-eating grin off his face if JR made all 3 FTs.
Darth Thanatos 02-26-2008, 12:56 AM Stretching the page, fucker.
Vinny 02-26-2008, 10:01 AM I think I need to go bump that 200 page Maciej Lampe appreciation thread on the NYK board at RGM.
Just realized that this was my 2000th post.
Yep, sounds about right.
Vinny 02-26-2008, 12:56 PM Moved stuff to the Here It Comes Thread (http://wtfdetroit.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11691), hope noone minds...
WTFchris 02-26-2008, 06:30 PM That was a fun game to attend. AA and RIP did a pretty good job on AI for the most part. Stuckey shot well, but those passes were terrible. He just looks like he's pressing too much to make a play. I knew JR would choke on those FT's. I liked how Melo and Gaymart were whining at the officials all night.
WTFchris 02-26-2008, 06:31 PM Joey Crawford is a drama queen
Did the camera catch him tripping and falling on the breakaway? That was pretty funny.
