I'm in one from my old work, but we need another 6-8 players I think. If we only have about that many that want to play on here, you can all just join that one. If you have enough for a full league then go ahead and make one. Post on here if you are interested in a league so we can see how many want in, and will be active.

Maybe. I've stayed away from fantasy baseball for a while, and format would matter. It's as time consuming as they come and I can't guarantee I can commit the time.

Make no mistake, if I commit to it I'll stay on top of it. That's part of the reason it takes some convincing for me to commit.

Baseball is easier to keep up with than basketball IMO. Since they play almost every day, you aren't really penalized much by not playing your bench. You can go out of town for a weekend, foget to change your lineups and be OK (assuming you had guys playing in the first place). In basketball you have more off days and thus have to be more active.

My definition of active in baseball is responding to trades, and dealing with injuries. Also trying to make sure guys are played all the time, but as I said it's less important in baseball.

You have to set your pitchers too.

If we get enough interest, I'll set one up. Come on people, chime in if you want in.

Obviously if you put more time into it you'll have a better chance of success (picking up/dropping players, research, trades, etc), but you can get by with 5 minutes twice a week. You can set your lineup for the whole week on Monday. Just don't quit.

I think I won it last year and I watched about a dozen games before the playoffs. So there's a chance.

You don't really need to watch or even pay attention to baseball to do fairly well in fantasy baseball. It helps, certainly, but if you read the box scores every day and sort through the stats of free agents and the players on your team, and make adjustments as needed, you'll do just fine.

I absolutely love baseball. I played it my whole life (High School, College and just starting playing again in a men's league). However, I played fantasy basketball once and found it to be awful, and I love basketball as much as I do baseball. But everyone says that fantasy baseball is much better than basketball, so if it's not boring, I'll play.

My advice to darko - use your top pick on Todd Jones. Dude is going to rack up a ton of saves. 2nd round - Brandon Inge. The number of positions he can play makes him incredibly valuable in roto baseball because you can plug him in almost anywhere (damn shame Shane Halter isn't around). 3rd round - Cameron Maybin. With pure speed like that he will steal 90 bases, for real. (total, by the time he's been in the league 4 years). 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th rounds. This is where you dominate with starting pitching. Roger Clemens, Curt Schilling, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and Bartolo Colon. Seriously, unbeatable. That's like 200 Cy Young awards.

OK, so it looks like just the 7 of us.

In a normal 12 team league, the default positions are as follows:

1 Catcher, 1 1B, 1 3B, 1 2B, 1 SS, 3 OF, 1 Util, 1250 innings for pitchers.

Since we only have 7 teams, to even things out, it computes that we should have 1.7 times as many of each. Since we can't do exactly that, I did the following:

2 Catchers, 1 1B, 1 3B, 1 CI (Corner Infielder, either first or third), 1 2B, 1 SS, 1 MI (Middle Infielder, either 2B or SS), 5 OF, 2 Utility and 1850 max innings for pitchers.

If anyone has any better ideas, please let me know, and there's still time if anyone else wants to join up using the info below. The more the merrier.

If I thought I wouldn't be entirely terrible at this (i.e. I don't know shit about most guys on other teams, I really only follow the Tigs), and if I thought I'd keep up with everything and be useful to the league, I'd jump in. But I'd end up being that annoying guy that makes stupid trades that piss everyone off because I don't know any better.

I read your note about trades. Are there any guidelines for what makes a normal trade? I just hate the fact that some trades, by the time you add the day of and the day it takes for yahoo to process it, can take like a week. Bothers me a lot. So as long as we work something out that people can chime in and it can move quickly in non-controversial circumstances is good with me.

Pretty much mine and other people's judgement. I'm not going to stretch things out just to be a dick, but in my experience, leagues like this whether we like it or not, tend to have faltering interest after the first 2 months. I hope noone outright quits but there's probably a good chance that someone will only sign in every 2 days instead of every day after a while, etc. In the interest of making sure that the league's as fair as possible, I prefer to leave waivers at the default 2 days, and to add 1 extra day to the trade approval time. In an 180 day season, I don't think this should make too huge of a difference.

If there's a non-controversial trade, I'll put it through right away.

You drafted 7th and I drafted 8th, so as it was coming to me I always knew who your team was going to take. A Lions draft. Best player available, regardless of team need or other better fits still available.

That's always the risk with the autopick draft. I've taught myself not to complain about it anymore since it was my choice.

I can handle getting shitty players, they are easy to cut and replace, it's those guys that are too good to cut but I can't stand that cause me grief.

I'm willing to deal those guys that I don't like at a slight bargain just to get them out of my sight.

Whoever is getting Hafner & Pedroia raped in that trade man...as much as I hate Pronk, I think he's going to have a monster bounce back year, and Pedroia, even though he doesn't have much power, he's going to get a ton of hits and will have a high .AVG and .OBP...

Freddy Sanchez is a bit nicked up right now, and he's usually only good for average anyway...Pat Burrell is a Fantasy poision who usually always hits below .250 and in a league like ours, should be on the waiver wire right now...

Wang doesn't get many K's...but he's good for wins...and if Pedro can stay healthy, he's got the upside to get wins and more K's than Wang...

It's about reputation. Down the road, when we're actually in the thick of it, I'll want to be able to deal. Whether it ends up hurting my team or not, I don't like the protest and the stigma. I never want to be known as "that guy". Every league has that guy. He sends you ridiculous trade offers NEVER to be taken seriously, just waiting for the fool that accepts the one that puts him over the top.

I, on the other hand, try to negotiate and find win-win deals. I want people to know THAT so they'll feel willing to counter and meet in the middle.

Of course I recently grabbed Gavin Floyd and in a league that penalizes giving up HR he gives up 4 ER, all solo homers. Why couldn't they pull him after the 6th and keep him from the last HR while giving him a QS? Ozzie Guillen hates me more than he hates Chicago talk radio.
