View Full Version : official UM basketball thread b-diddy 02-17-2008, 02:38 PM im jinxing the shit out of them right now, but right now they are 5 miunutes away from their 3rd consexutive win (up 6, 5 to go vs buckeyes). has the worm turned? b-diddy 02-17-2008, 02:42 PM its hard to get too excited when were just fighting for our nit lives, but i am getting there. even if this one slips away, there is some reason to be optimistic. earlier in the season, it seemed like we were playing everyone tough, just couldnt finish, and not as far away as our record indicated. a strong finish would be awesome, if only to get the "experts" to shut up about UM for a minute. i dont know who are incoming freshmen are next year, but im thinking if there is some decent talent ncaa's wont be out of the question. Timone 02-17-2008, 02:44 PM Michigan's going to beat Ohio State?!? b-diddy 02-17-2008, 02:45 PM played them tough at OSU. theyre on cbs right now, 241 to go. Timone 02-17-2008, 02:46 PM Big shot by Simms. Timone 02-17-2008, 02:47 PM Butler answers...lol, oh boy. b-diddy 02-17-2008, 02:49 PM its been this way all year. it appears michigan is both understanding and believing in belein's system now. thats got to translate to closing out better. b-diddy 02-17-2008, 02:52 PM manny harris is a golden god. Timone 02-17-2008, 02:53 PM Well I'll be. The basketball team is going to do something the football team hasn't in 4 years. b-diddy 02-17-2008, 02:55 PM ive only seen the national tv games, but this seems to be (by far) the high water mark of the season. i've never seen a michigan crowd like this. Timone 02-17-2008, 02:56 PM Seems like Knockout is the real jinx. Timone 02-17-2008, 02:58 PM That was pretty nice, even if I don't like college basketball. b-diddy 02-17-2008, 03:00 PM michigan is on a 3-0 run, msu is on a 1-3 run. you tell me. Timone 02-17-2008, 03:05 PM We would like to have a word with Mr. Knockout. MoTown 02-17-2008, 03:08 PM Wow. And out of the five games they have left, four are winnable. They won't beat Purdue, but Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois and Penn State are all very beatable teams. I'm not saying they'll win all 4, I'm just saying they can beat any one of those teams. Timone 02-17-2008, 03:11 PM I'll take that as a guarantee, MoTown. MoTown 02-17-2008, 10:28 PM Set up a poll, I'll let you know which ones they'll win and lose with that. Glenn 02-18-2008, 06:21 AM This thread seems like a jedi mind trick. Try to find out who cares about UM basketball and then go all Knockout on them. Timone 02-18-2008, 10:17 AM Rich God was there at halftime addressing the crowd. And I was not aware that Michigan lost to Ohio State SEVEN straight times in basketball before the win. Yeesh. b-diddy 02-21-2008, 08:18 PM kinky matchup tonight against minnessota, a sassy young team whom also has a saucy new coach. needless to say, i wont be wearing sweatpants any time soon if we win tonight. Timone 02-21-2008, 08:19 PM I'm going to watch. First full college basketball game I may watch in quite some time. b-diddy 02-21-2008, 10:51 PM tough one. minny went nutso down the stretch. Timone 02-21-2008, 10:52 PM Michigan about to pull a Sparty and lose a road game. Haha. jkihavenoreasontobashstate Wilfredo Ledezma 02-21-2008, 10:56 PM Michigan about to pull a Sparty and lose a road game. Haha. jkihavenoreasontobashstate but we're supposed to lose to Minny Timone 02-21-2008, 11:00 PM Are "we"? Or is Michigan? Wilfredo Ledezma 02-21-2008, 11:03 PM Are "we"? Or is Michigan? we = :BARWIS: Wilfredo Ledezma 02-21-2008, 11:06 PM I hate Minnesota. http://www.cryptomundo.com/wp-content/uploads/minnesota_bridge.jpg Timone 02-21-2008, 11:06 PM Uh... MoTown 02-21-2008, 11:07 PM Yikes. Timone 02-21-2008, 11:13 PM Wil, do you think you could not be an asshole sometimes? b-diddy 02-21-2008, 11:28 PM I hate Minnesota. http://www.cryptomundo.com/wp-content/uploads/minnesota_bridge.jpg too soon. Jethro34 02-23-2008, 11:24 PM Ugly game today. 92 total points for the two teams. Not quite as bad as the 79 MSU and Iowa combined for, but still ugly. But it leaves UM with 9 wins, looking for the 10th against powerhouse Northwestern. It may actually happen. b-diddy 02-23-2008, 11:52 PM are we an NIT bubble team yet? i really hope we are. nit would be great for this team. Wilfredo Ledezma 02-24-2008, 12:00 AM are we an NIT bubble team yet? i really hope we are. nit would be great for this team. We do have a rich NIT tradition. Perhaps the NIT selection committee will take that into consideration. Not to mention our RPI should be right up there since we beat Radford. Jethro34 02-24-2008, 07:43 AM As completely impossible as it would be, I would love to see this team win the Big Ten tournament and shock everyone by going to the big dance. Here's why it could happen and why it won't. Why it could - every team in the conference is beatable. Seriously. Each has their huge flaws. We've seen that. Not to mention some of the better teams will knock each other off. Why it won't - this team shoots in the 30's percentage-wise. Even if they get hot, that's likely to last a half, not a whole game and certainly not 4 games in 5 days, or whatever it is. I think the Wolverines will win their first game in the B10 tourney and then bow out. It's actually more likely they would lose their first than win multiple. Would still be insanely cool though. Win and get in to give everyone a huge "F you". Jethro34 02-24-2008, 07:54 AM Ok, just to humor myself, I checked out the Big Ten tourney. A lot of teams are tied at different records right now (3-way tie for 1st, for example) and there's plenty of basketball to be played still, but considering the order ESPN has the teams here's how it would look. If the higher seed won in every game (except for UM), their road would be: Penn State in the 1st game, then Indiana, then Michigan State, then Wisconsin. So that's an insanely unlikely win streak over 4 days, but they wouldn't have to beat the entire conference. No Purdue or Ohio State or Iowa or Minnesota. Keep in mind the seeding will likely change a bit in the next two weeks and a couple wins could make it an easier road. Just some food (cornbread) for thought. Wilfredo Ledezma 02-24-2008, 08:40 AM We have a chance to be a very "pesky" team come Big Ten tourny time...if you win the Big Ten Tourny, it's an auto-birth into the big dance right??? LMFAO, how funny would that be... pipe dream though, not even worth discussing darkobetterthanmelo 02-24-2008, 09:10 AM LMFAO @ bridge joke... but its way too soon. (give it a few more months) |
