if you make less than 75k individually, and 150k if you file as a joint, you are elegible for the $600/1200 rebate.

im thinking we should purchase: www.ispentmytaxrebateonblow.com

im not a fan of these. i get that you lower taxes when the economy stalls out, but willthis save anything? i got to think this money could go to a better cause.

We have problems because we spend money we don't have, so let's spend more money we don't have and see if it gets better.

My half-baked idea is to give people the money, then require that they put it in some kind of special savings account that they could only withdraw from in the next year or two if bad extenuating circumstances happened. Financial institutions that need propping up get the money in the savings accounts for a year or two, with the caveat that eventually that money stops being very strongly tied to them. Give people some idea of what it's like to actually save money for a change.

There are studies out today that show that as many as 80% of people surveyed plan to either horde the money or put it towards debt.

That should really stimulate the economy.

Yeah, I'm going to be one of the jerks that puts 90% of it toward the principle on their mortgage.
But I do plan to stimulate the economy by spending the other 10% on steak.

My roommate took his entire 1400$ tax return and paid off one of his credit cards. Only 3 more to go.

As for me, I'll probably put mine into a savings account and use it to pay for school next year. I switched to my 6th different major (yeah, i should probably make up my mind sometime soon), so my scholarships will run out before I actually graduate.

Paying down my credit card bill.

What, did you expect me to care more about the national economy than I do about my own economy?
