View Full Version : OGT: UM @ MSU 1/27/08 1pm

Somebody has to start this. Dave Dye of the Detroit news got in the first shot.

"Eller-Beilein?"

I knew things were tough around Crisler Arena, but not to the extent that people are starting to call coach John Beilein "Eller-Beilein," a mock reference to former U-M coach Brian Ellerbe.

Ouch.

Sunday's Michigan-Michigan State game, by the way, will start at 1 p.m. now at the Breslin Center, not noon as previously scheduled.

The early line has Michigan State as a 79 1/2-point favorite. I'd pick MSU, but that 1/2 point could be the difference.

If you're an MSU fan that's comical.
If you're me he's a prick.

Anywho - throw everything out in this game. UM showed Wisconsin they can run with good teams if they're hitting shots. Big, BIG if.

I predict MSU by 16.

If MSU's defense shows up... <---I really need to let that BukDow thing go.

Thanks for the OGT and its clear to me that the guy is a prick.

Look for State to out rebound the shit out of Michigan's zone defense. That is why i think Michigan has a 2% chance of winning.

I'll bet that Manny Harris outscores Drew Neitzel.

How's big Drew holding up as the Pre-Season Big Ten MVP??

Please. DJ White and/or Eric Gordon already have him beat.

I agree that Manny outscores Neitzel.

We'll out score you at every other position, though, including bench positions 1-3.

One thing working for UM is that MSU has not been playing well these past few weeks. I mean, we lost to IOWA.

MSU by 32. Lead grows fast when Lucas is in. Durrell Summers and MarQueis Gray take advantage of easy rebounds and get the break going bigtime.

Sorry guys, I don't see this one ending well. Perhaps I'm bringing in too much of the OOC schedule, where MSU looked great, and UM looked horrid, but I don't see this being a game, and Izzo will get everyone pumped.

Book it. I'll wager all my MoTowns if necessary.

Instead of predicting whether Michigan can upset Michigan State lets make this thread really fun.......

Percentage that after the Sparties wipe the floor with our 1-3-1 that Tre and/or Bukdow both make an appearance?

Tre -- 25%
Budkow -- 57%

WAY better chance for Tre to make a cameo.

bukdow ain't coming back, after what Jethro did to him.

What did jethro do to me? I must have missed it. I have been away because, well frankly, this board is just filled with too many chumps.

By the way, UM football is set next year with Mallett as QB.

I have no problems talking sports. It is just very difficult to do it with a bunch of wannabe wolverines. There is no objectivity. You people are like a bunch of Scientologists (i.e a brainwashed cult). Hell, even the Scientologists have one up on you guys, they actually attend the Church of Scientology.

I called the transfer of Mallett all the while you guys were making excuses and constructing rationalizations. And I`ll tell you another thing, RichRod isn`t going to work out. He is a complete scumbag hillbilly and UM will be looking for another coach in 4 years.

OK, being back here as long as I have is starting to turn my stomach. I will leave you goof-balls to your battles with inferiority. Remember you never did, you never will and you never were.

bukdow, you really need to take into consideration the fact that most of the NCAA posters' "fanhood" doesn't consist of just college sports, like yours does.

They like baseball, they like NFL football, they like NBA basketball (as hard as that is to admit). Hell, some of them even like HOCKEY.

Timone
01-24-2008, 06:22 PM
I like you as a poster, bukdow, but it always was interesting to me how you, as a proud State fan, felt it was your duty to protect the University of Michigan from the Walmart Wolverines. Since, you know, you never attended the university either.

I always thought it was awesome how you talked about humility, which is part of being bukdow, when you felt the need to flaunt your two degrees constantly like they were some sort of penis extension.

Love ya kid!

funny you mention this, heres more of that excerpt that zip has been pm'ing to certain WMW's.

]Wolverines are the authorities on getting people off drugs. Wolverines are the authorities on the mind. Wolverines are the authorities on improving conditions. Criminon [sic]. Wolverines can rehabilitate criminals. Wolverines can bring peace and unite cultures. That once you know these tools and you know that they work, it's not good enough that I'm just doing Ok.

"Travelling the world and meeting the people that I've met, you know, talking with these leaders in various fields, [pause]they want help, and they are depending on people who know and who can be effective, and do it, and that's us. That is our responsibility to do that. It is the time now. Now is the time. It is being a Wolverine, people are turning to you, and you better know it, and if you don't, you know, go and learn it. [Laughs] but don't pretend you know it, or whatever.

"It's like, we're here to help. If you're a Wolverine, you see life, things, the way they are, in all it's glory, in all of it's perplexity, and the more you know as a Wolverine, the more you become overwhelmed by it. [Laughs again, clapping his hands]

Wake me up when Bball actually means something again. Until then, I dont care about if MSU beats the crap out of UM in Bball....it is expected.

At least we didnt get out a clock to count it down and then lay down and let big brother fuck you like Adebisi did that fine young wiseguy.

Since this is a low expectations year for us - an idea patented by MSU which they should be very proud of, this game is meaningless for UM. Zero pressure. However, if MSU somehow losses they will look like absolute fools.

we look good. we have some talent. and the system is showing that it can work. all we need is better talent, and more depth, and we are going to bea good team. jethro was right, this team has a future. we stuck with ucla at 30 minutes played. i think we're closer than our record indicates. were not going to win, but atleast we made up for that 11-0 start.

i realize they are beating us pretty well, but this msu team is supposed to be elite?? uhhh, im not so sure on that one.

ps i will not pull a tre and say "i told you so" when msu inevitably loses in the ncaa's. but they are not on the same level as some of the other premier teams in the league.

Anybody catch the Izzone chanting "Little Sister" in the second half? That's some classic shit right there. Glad to see my boys in green embarrass the whiners from double A yet again.

It might have been awhile since I was back home, but I'm guessing things haven't changed in the icy D, I'll probably get a couple of classic Maze and Bitch comments back if memory serves.

1)I don't follow basketball
2)Wait until the fall
3)Everybody knows football is the best sport
4)So what, we got DickRod
5)Who cares MSU will just lose in the tourney anyway (Tommy Izzo #2 in the NCAA in tourney win percentage with my boy Donovan creepin' just behind)

I saw the last couple of games. IMO Michigan's biggest problems are that they play 2 on 5 on offense and that their 1-3-1 defnese is possibly the worst in college basketball. On the bright side, it would at least appear that the players are receiving some coaching and instruction. My bold prediction is that they go 4-6 to finish out the season (not that that is really that impressive anyway).

Gray looked like he knew he could out-muscle almost anyone on him...when I was watching. And did it.

I thought UofM looked pretty good. It's still out there a ways, but I think we're on the right track.

MSU is MSU. They can play like shit here or there and big deal, there season is March Madness. Thats where they better shine.

b-diddy

the reason i suggest MSU is in for struggles is 2 fold:

1) though they seemingly had an edge in size at every position (not sure, was just observing) we had the same # of rebounds. in fact, we seemed to outwork them on the boards. rebounding is always huge in the tourny.

2) outside defense. it seemed like UM could get an open three at will against msu. i realize that thats the essence of beiline's system, but its also the blueprint to damn near every upset in the ncaa's. msu's peremeter D looked bad to me.

izzo is a good coach, and he still has, what, 6 weeks?, to get this team going, but as of january 27 i have doubts.

Glenn
01-28-2008, 05:27 AM
As a MSU alum and a UM fan, this was a wonderful outcome.

My boys get a nice Big Ten win and better yet, we covered the spread.

If I were there I would shake Beilein's hand and show him my winning wager slip, "You did this for me, fella!".

He should have been carried off on their shoulders for this one.
