View Full Version : Trade idea: Dice/Brezec/Herrmann for Sammy Dalembert
defrocked 01-22-2008, 12:16 PM What about a Dyess/Brezec/Herrmann for Dalembert trade? He doesn't have a great contract (10.2M this year and three more following according to ESPN), but he's a good double-double guy with definite inside presence on D.
MoTown 01-22-2008, 12:49 PM Dalembert cannot shoot the three. And in this system, that would make him worthless.
Because shooting 33% from 3 pt land is like shooting 50% from 2 pt land.
Let's stop discussing worthless trades and start discussing trades for Antoine Walker.

Glenn 01-22-2008, 01:13 PM I knew you would like that.
micknugget 01-22-2008, 01:18 PM Dalembert isn't a bad player but his contract is pretty horrible. I can't see Joe D or the big boss man liking this deal.
Zekyl 01-22-2008, 09:47 PM If it wasn't for that contract I'd be 100% behind this deal. With that contract, I'm 85-90% behind it. I still wouldn't mind seeing it go down at all. I'd really hate to see is deal Dice then make it to the finals though. He wants it so bad.
Cross 01-23-2008, 05:18 AM I don't think Joe would backstab Dice.

Hermy 01-23-2008, 07:24 AM I don't think Joe would backstab us. Bert is awful.
MoTown 01-23-2008, 08:30 AM Apperently Joe isn't a backstabber.
Zekyl 01-23-2008, 11:08 AM So that's why we haven't give up shitty contracts for David Lee yet. Joe won't backstab the worst GM in the league for one of his only good players.
Laxation 02-01-2008, 07:43 PM Why does Philly even consider this...

I'll take a stab.
To shed Sammy's contract and get two expirings and a classy vet big man in return?
b-diddy 02-03-2008, 03:17 AM i think dalembert IS a bad player.
Zekyl 02-03-2008, 11:21 AM He relies entirely on his athleticism. I used to think he would develop into a HUGE defensive presence but he just never got the mind for it. Kind of like Tyson Chandler there for a while, although he's starting to finally put it together.
Wilfredo Ledezma 02-03-2008, 12:23 PM Eww, why the F would we want Samuel Dalembert...albeit he is the only NBA player ever born in Haiti, but he never takes advantage of his size (kind of like Primoz) and he's WAYYY overpaid...
Wilfredo Ledezma 02-03-2008, 12:24 PM Didn't we just get rid of Nazr Mohammed's contract??? Why the hell would we basically want to bring it back on again??? Thats what Samuel Dalembert would do...
defrocked 02-03-2008, 01:23 PM While I brought up the idea, I'm definitely not thinking this is a slam dunk deal for the Pistons. I brought it up for discussion because I was looking at the realistic options to shore up our rebounding and inside defensive presence.
But I think people are being pretty blind on Dalembert. Is he a future David Robinson? Hell no, but he's not an awful player. He's averaging a double-double (11.4 ppg, 10.1 rpg) and 2.4 bpg in 33 minutes. Those are nice numbers. His contract is rough, but I'm not sure you're going to get many big men who aren't overpaid. It's the way of the league. The second a 7-footer shows potential, they're given a big contract.
Is he a basketball savior guaranteed to bring the Pistons a championship? Obviously not. But he's 13th in the league in rebounds and 6th in blocks. Not too shabby for a 26-year-old with some upside left.

I can't disagree that he's a solid player but then again his numbers are on a pretty bad team which means that they could be a little exagerrated. When you look at the fact taht he hasn't improved much over the years and has a pretty awful contract, I'd steer clear. The cap flexibility would be far more valuable.
Zekyl 02-03-2008, 02:09 PM Here's hoping Samb develops at least into Dalembert in a year or two. I think that'd be a great development, seeing as he's a very late 2nd round pick. Any sort of production from him would be a plus, so having him pulling in 10 a game and being a monster shot blocker would be huge.
b-diddy 02-03-2008, 08:01 PM putting up good stats on a bad team is pretty much meaningless. if he's getting those good stats, why is his team so bad?
dalembert would stick out in a bad way on this team.
and at that contract?
i wouldnt count on finding a big man thats going to upgrade this team before the deadline.
