The Toronto Raptors are Dead To Me.

Toronto Raptors are dead to me: Colbert

Nice little bit tonight on the Colbert Report. The Raptors are now on Stephen Colbert’s “dead to me” list after the team mascot beat the mascot of the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL, Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle, in a rating of sports mascots. The team was previously “on notice” for being a Canadian team in America’s NBA. The only natural response: We, as Toronto Raptors fans, must issue a challenge on behalf of the Raptor to Steagle Colbeagle. Some kind of competition. It’s the only way.

Pistonians. I put my alpacas on them.

I expect a blow out, after that debacle in NY.

I voted for America, but only because "Favre" wasn't a choice.

Pistons win by 7

Bosh should be a Piston

Glenn, America and Favre are synonymous. It's OK.

How irresponsible. j/k

Had to dig up this classic:

Well, you know how you have some moms and some dads who would rather be your friend than be your parent? Sam Mitchell strikes me as that kind of guy, who'd rather hang out with you, get you hammered, then try to fuck you in the ass instead of coach you.

Has a player ever been bailed out by the refs when they are going for a half court chuck on the buzzer?

I didnt think so...

so why the fuck does Billups try to get the foul

I'm watching this game on something called MojoHD (which has the NBATV feed buti n HD), and i noticed something funny. 4:30-ish left, pistons go up by like 15 or 17, and i see Afflalo (I think it was him) get up to be checked in. He waits by the scorer's table to come in. Suddenly Toronto scores like 4 or 5, and its a 12 point game. Suddenly Flip calls Afflalo back to the bench. Rip makes 2 more, and during this stretch i see afflalo again get up, start to go to the table, then get called back. I just thought it was funny, the lead slipped a little bit and the starter had to stay in that late in a blowout win

I dont know about that. Nocioni look stiff and slow at SF. Looks agile at PF. But i dont see him get by many SF defenders.

Werent you informed about the "so long as theyre both white, you can compare them" rule?
Its why Delfino will always be compared to Ginobilli.

Once...(course resulting in a layup for prince once Sheed was doubled) he then sat at the top of the key waiting for an open 3 for the next couple of possessions before Mitchell wisened up and put Graham in... Who wouldve thunk it

Saunders said that for now, Arron Afflalo would be out of the rotation.
"After talking to Joe (Dumars ), we decided to shorten our bench somewhat to facilitate Stuckey," Saunders said. "We want to get him out there with more of our main guys to try and help him out."

Afflalo did a lot of that damage to himself.

If Joe Dumars wants you out of the rotation, that's on you.

This is a good thing. Stuckey needs a lot more work than AA does. AA's game is already pretty well developed, especially for his role on the team (defend, hustle). Stuckey needs every minute he can get, so that he can be a difference maker in the playoffs, much less better than Lindsey/Murray. He's way more raw than AA, and he's trying to learn a new position.

As long as those minutes cut from AA end up with Stuckey, I won't have a problem. If it comes back to the starters, then Joe obviously didn't get the point across well enough.

On the Flip side (pun intended), AA has earned minutes, and this clearly goes against the "earn your minutes" mantra that Flip spews about every young guy that doesn't play. Though I guess we all knew that was just a company line anyways.

Jethro34
01-16-2008, 07:12 AM
I'm ok with shortening the bench for 3-4 weeks perhaps if it's for Stuckey, but at some point you have to get the bench back in it again down the stretch, and they can't wait too long to do that.
Echoing statements, this better not impact starters minutes. They need to stay down as close to 30 as possible.

Failing that, here comes Lindsay!

AA 421 mins played
RS 228 mins played

Its more important to develop a backup pg than a 2 guard, imo. A 3 guard rotation of CBill, Rip and Stuck is better than CBill, Rip and AA.

By the way, I read the article today about Max hitting the wall. Sounds like it may be time to back off him a bit, keep him around 18-20 per game for the next 10-15 games. Brezec time. Or, here's a thought, PLAY AMIR YOU FAG! Sorry, I slipped.
