Toronto Raptors are dead to me: Colbert
Nice little bit tonight on the Colbert Report. The Raptors are now on Stephen Colbert’s “dead to me” list after the team mascot beat the mascot of the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL, Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle, in a rating of sports mascots. The team was previously “on notice” for being a Canadian team in America’s NBA. The only natural response: We, as Toronto Raptors fans, must issue a challenge on behalf of the Raptor to Steagle Colbeagle. Some kind of competition. It’s the only way.
Timone 01-15-2008, 05:43 PM Pistonians. I put my alpacas on them.
I expect a blow out, after that debacle in NY.
Glenn 01-15-2008, 05:47 PM I voted for America, but only because "Favre" wasn't a choice.
Pistons win by 7
Bosh should be a Piston
Timone 01-15-2008, 05:48 PM Glenn, America and Favre are synonymous. It's OK.
Timone 01-15-2008, 07:02 PM BTW it's the 15th, not the 18th. And it's on at 7:30. :P
How irresponsible. j/k
geerussell 01-15-2008, 07:32 PM I'm thinking a close game, pistons win. My alpacas are on the raptors and the points.
Timone 01-15-2008, 07:33 PM There's no option for a missed layup by Delfino. Gay.
Timone 01-15-2008, 07:44 PM Had to dig up this classic:
Well, you know how you have some moms and some dads who would rather be your friend than be your parent? Sam Mitchell strikes me as that kind of guy, who'd rather hang out with you, get you hammered, then try to fuck you in the ass instead of coach you.
Timone 01-15-2008, 07:48 PM Toronto's looking like us, not even hesitating to shoot.
Timone 01-15-2008, 07:51 PM Anyone else like when they played Jeff Spicoli going "Alright Hamilton!" after every bucket better than "Yes sir!" for Rip?
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:03 PM In the raptorsnation.net chat room, everyone is leaving cos they are 100% sure they will lose
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:04 PM calderon is a beast
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:05 PM grow some balls and dunk that shit, tay
Timone 01-15-2008, 08:05 PM In the raptorsnation.net chat room, everyone is leaving cos they are 100% sure they will lose
So did the fans that left the Nuggets-Pistons game where 'Sheed made that miracle shot.
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:06 PM Has a player ever been bailed out by the refs when they are going for a half court chuck on the buzzer?
I didnt think so...
so why the fuck does Billups try to get the foul
Timone 01-15-2008, 08:07 PM lol exactly
Black Dynamite 01-15-2008, 08:07 PM Has a player ever been bailed out by the refs when they are going for a half court chuck on the buzzer?
Actually Nate Robinson just got that hook up last game.
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:09 PM Actually Nate Robinson just got that hook up last game.
No wonder we lost by so much then... IT WAS THE REFS FAULT!
Timone 01-15-2008, 08:10 PM Nah, Flip's.
Timone 01-15-2008, 08:11 PM Ah, I hate it when a perfectly good street ball "ankle breaking" move goes to waste with a foul.
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:12 PM wow billups is driving... awesome!
Black Dynamite 01-15-2008, 08:15 PM No wonder we lost by so much then... IT WAS THE REFS FAULT!
No it was everybody's fault. I say that for once.
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:16 PM No it was everybody's fault. I say that for once.
Now youre just lying...
clearly a blowout loss to the KNICKS was the fault of the refs...
better?
Tahoe 01-15-2008, 08:23 PM Rip with another bad decision
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:27 PM Speaking of Isiah, whatever happened to Channing Frye?
Timone 01-15-2008, 08:28 PM Portland.
Black Dynamite 01-15-2008, 08:29 PM Carlos Scalabrine Delfino?
Hermy 01-15-2008, 08:30 PM I wish Flip would have just stuck Fino in the corner to shoot 3s instead of trying to involve him in the offense. Went away from his strengths.
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:31 PM Portland.
omg no way...
but since then, why has he gone to shit? he was untouchable for a while there...

Tahoe 01-15-2008, 08:36 PM Wow, was that a shitty almost ending to the half?
Tahoe 01-15-2008, 08:39 PM WTF is/was that shit?
I'm so tired of seeing CBill dribbling the ball at the arc and coming up empty. Mr Bigshot is living off his rep in 04.
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:39 PM It pisses me off why players dont just chuck it up at the end of quarters... chances are it wont go in, but its worth the effort it takes
Timone 01-15-2008, 08:44 PM I'd hit Beth McLeod.
Laxation 01-15-2008, 08:50 PM It pisses me off why players dont just chuck it up at the end of quarters... chances are it wont go in, but its worth the effort it takes
Just ask the guy who won $500,000 doing it... HE didnt care about his stats!
Laxation 01-15-2008, 09:10 PM Can someone remind Sheed that Delfino is defending him...
Glenn 01-15-2008, 09:15 PM 105-87 could be a reality tonight, boys
Laxation 01-15-2008, 09:19 PM Sweet pass from Billups, but im getting sick of these quick jumpshots from the baseline whilst being guarded...
Laxation 01-15-2008, 09:21 PM Has a player ever been bailed out by the refs when they are going for a half court chuck on the buzzer?
I didnt think so...
so why the fuck does Billups try to get the foul
:emo kid:
Laxation 01-15-2008, 09:35 PM What did Afflalo do to make him play 4seconds?
Hermy 01-15-2008, 09:47 PM What did Afflalo do to make him play 4seconds?
Rolled in smoking a joint.
metr0man 01-15-2008, 09:51 PM I'm watching this game on something called MojoHD (which has the NBATV feed buti n HD), and i noticed something funny. 4:30-ish left, pistons go up by like 15 or 17, and i see Afflalo (I think it was him) get up to be checked in. He waits by the scorer's table to come in. Suddenly Toronto scores like 4 or 5, and its a 12 point game. Suddenly Flip calls Afflalo back to the bench. Rip makes 2 more, and during this stretch i see afflalo again get up, start to go to the table, then get called back. I just thought it was funny, the lead slipped a little bit and the starter had to stay in that late in a blowout win
Timone 01-15-2008, 09:53 PM Nice win. AND!!!!!!!!!!!! they get style points.
Black Dynamite 01-15-2008, 09:55 PM Walter Herrmann needs to get some more minutes. He's like a 6ft 9in Nocioni with possibly a better shot. .
Laxation 01-15-2008, 09:57 PM 105-87 could be a reality tonight, boys
We get one of the 15 rebounds in the last 35 seconds, and this prediction was true...
DrRay11 01-15-2008, 10:12 PM I don't get the Hermann/Nocioni comparisons, to be honest. Nocioni is much more agile...
Black Dynamite 01-15-2008, 10:34 PM I don't get the Hermann/Nocioni comparisons, to be honest. Nocioni is much more agile...
I dont know about that. Nocioni look stiff and slow at SF. Looks agile at PF. But i dont see him get by many SF defenders.
Laxation 01-15-2008, 10:50 PM Its cos theyre both White, both argentinian, and both hustle...
Werent you informed about the "so long as theyre both white, you can compare them" rule?
Its why Delfino will always be compared to Ginobilli.
Black Dynamite 01-15-2008, 11:38 PM Its why Delfino will always be compared to Ginobilli.
Actually Ginobilli is what we wished delfino was. [smilie=heatsmiley2:
Zekyl 01-15-2008, 11:41 PM Can someone remind Sheed that Delfino is defending him...
Whoa whoa whoa, Delfino was guarding Sheed? PLEASE tell me he took it to his butt on the low block. Please?
DOUBTFUL!!!!!!!!!
geerussell 01-16-2008, 01:08 AM What, nobody is getting hysterical over Flip's post-game comment about shortening the bench? Nobody? I was expecting the site to lose at least 3 or 4 regulars to aneurysms.
Timone 01-16-2008, 01:19 AM HE SAID WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
Laxation 01-16-2008, 01:24 AM What, nobody is getting hysterical over Flip's post-game comment about shortening the bench? Nobody? I was expecting the site to lose at least 3 or 4 regulars to aneurysms.
I just threw up a little... Does nba.com still show post-game footage?
Whoa whoa whoa, Delfino was guarding Sheed? PLEASE tell me he took it to his butt on the low block. Please?
DOUBTFUL!!!!!!!!!
Once...(course resulting in a layup for prince once Sheed was doubled) he then sat at the top of the key waiting for an open 3 for the next couple of possessions before Mitchell wisened up and put Graham in... Who wouldve thunk it
geerussell 01-16-2008, 02:39 AM http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080116/SPORTS0102/801160427/1127
Saunders said that for now, Arron Afflalo would be out of the rotation.
"After talking to Joe (Dumars ), we decided to shorten our bench somewhat to facilitate Stuckey," Saunders said. "We want to get him out there with more of our main guys to try and help him out."
The Irony 01-16-2008, 02:44 AM :(
Kstat 01-16-2008, 04:34 AM Afflalo did a lot of that damage to himself.
If Joe Dumars wants you out of the rotation, that's on you.
What, nobody is getting hysterical over Flip's post-game comment about shortening the bench? Nobody? I was expecting the site to lose at least 3 or 4 regulars to aneurysms.
This is a good thing. Stuckey needs a lot more work than AA does. AA's game is already pretty well developed, especially for his role on the team (defend, hustle). Stuckey needs every minute he can get, so that he can be a difference maker in the playoffs, much less better than Lindsey/Murray. He's way more raw than AA, and he's trying to learn a new position.
As long as those minutes cut from AA end up with Stuckey, I won't have a problem. If it comes back to the starters, then Joe obviously didn't get the point across well enough.
On the Flip side (pun intended), AA has earned minutes, and this clearly goes against the "earn your minutes" mantra that Flip spews about every young guy that doesn't play. Though I guess we all knew that was just a company line anyways.
Jethro34 01-16-2008, 07:12 AM I'm ok with shortening the bench for 3-4 weeks perhaps if it's for Stuckey, but at some point you have to get the bench back in it again down the stretch, and they can't wait too long to do that.
Echoing statements, this better not impact starters minutes. They need to stay down as close to 30 as possible.
I'm done. Joe needs to coach. Its a joke that Flip needs to be told these things.
Zekyl 01-16-2008, 09:44 AM I'm done. Joe needs to coach. Its a joke that Flip needs to be told these things.
:cogent:
Laxation 01-16-2008, 11:09 AM So what the bet that Stuckey will play the same minutes, but starters will just raise a bit?
Failing that, here comes Lindsay!
I got $5...
Tahoe 01-16-2008, 11:20 AM AA 421 mins played
RS 228 mins played
Its more important to develop a backup pg than a 2 guard, imo. A 3 guard rotation of CBill, Rip and Stuck is better than CBill, Rip and AA.
Jethro34 01-16-2008, 08:56 PM By the way, I read the article today about Max hitting the wall. Sounds like it may be time to back off him a bit, keep him around 18-20 per game for the next 10-15 games. Brezec time. Or, here's a thought, PLAY AMIR YOU FAG! Sorry, I slipped.
