one thing i saw that annoyed the crud out of me the last few games, was that the guards were planted waiting for the defenders to come to them. tonight they're making quicker, more decisive moves.

real impressive first half. only 3 three point attempts. plenty of low post and in the paint scoring. lots of easy buckets. great defense. hopefully, the bench can come into the second half and provide plenty of quality minutes.

I agree to an extent, I'd say Sheed could be the best PF in the league if he put more practice and effort in (early on). But I'm not mad with the unselfish player he's become.

Man the TNT crew of Reggie Miller, Marv Woman Biter Albert and Mike the Hair Piece Fratello is a decent combo. Not a bunch of geniuses, but nothing too annoying either.

anyway i have to agree. i don't think sheed is lazy, but he does not assert himself as he should. he's too unselfish a lot of the time and some of the time he's just not into the game unless something happens to motivate him.

i agree that he could be so much more dominant. there is NO big man in the nba as well rounded and talented as him. including KG. who else can be a lock down defender, excellent rebounder and shot blocker, very good passer, fantastic on the low bloc and also a great shooter from real deep? nobody.

This is where the problem with riding your starters all the way through the third quarter comes in - now the game is closer in the 4th, and now suddenly the team will need the veterans in the 4th.
This is actually Flip's standard substitution pattern - he subs the 2nd half as if it were the 1st... It was fine when the starters were having these awesome 3rd quarters against mediocre teams leading to blowouts, but not now.

The bench should probably be getting burn in the late 3rd.

Hunter is playing well, the solution though was to play Stuck back in the 3rd when the starters were sucking gas and were giving up the lead. All of our calls for Stuckey here are more frustration that the starters were rode the whole 3rd, while giving up a lead, on the tail end of a back to back.

I think Hunter will play more than Stuckey in the playoffs IMO...maybe not in the first two rounds, but the Conference Finals my guess is....

because its just more of the same from the flipster. if the starters werent cruising last month, theyd have all probably played 35-40 a game. flip doesnt get it. hes got some f'd up ideals about basketball and, its why he's never surpassed expectations in the playoffs.

That was a good win and getting a taste of what it's like to win in san antonio is a rare thing. A three game losing streak is worth avoiding and looking at the schedule there will be tons of minutes for the bench just like there was for the previous 10+.

When the starters are shooting a high percentage (as Rasheed, Rip and Tayshaun did) and especially if the bench isn't scoring (which they weren't) and the starters are coming off a game in which they didn't play many minutes I don't think it's an issue that they big minutes in big games. Especially not this year when the starters haven't been overused. I just have issues when the starters stay in the game when they are not performing. (I believe in holding people accountable for their performance)

I also don't have issues with Lindsey playing when needed (but not at the expense of Stuckey's development which was apparently not the case) I'm one of those foolish fans that thinks defense contributes greatly to winning basketball games. I originally thought hunter was activated to match up against Tony Parker but apparently it was because stuckey hurt his hand. Both are extremely valid reasons to activate Lindsey Hunter.

I also think the refs called a great game. Usually they bail out parker and ginobili each time they drive to the basket but not last night. It was refreshing basketball (stern is probably uber pissed....stars not getting calls....only 90 points scored by the winning team...)
