Looks like we need another "let's save this thread for Tahoe" contest.

Conversion suggestions?

I'm surprised the bukfutter had us beating ND. Weis teams ALWAYS rebound from this type of "learning experience" year.

I see MAYBE 1 loss.

I'm looking at that schedule, and let me tell you something: There's no way Rich Rod goes 9-4.
Now, I know some things need to be settled, like the Mallett situation, but if it does get settled, or if Pryor comes in, I see fewer losses.
Utah: Michigan doesn't lose to something called "The Utes". This isn't "My Cousin Vinny". Marissa Tomei isn;t gonna show up, Fred Gwynne is dead, and Joe Pesci is only 4'8. These turds almost lost to Navy. I see UM winning this game 23-7.
Miami of Ohio: Rich Rod has been given a directive: You lose to the Mid American Conference, you have one of your balls cut off.
Notre Dame: They're going to be awful again.
Wisconsin: Even though Beckham is coming back, a Wolverine will not lose to a Badger in his own den.
Illinois: The sexy pick. OK, you guys snuck up on everyone this year. Let's see you do it again. You couldn;t beat Michigan in your own back yard, and with Chad Henne's shoulder being held on by tape and chewing gum. Sexy Picks don;t do it two years in a row. I say it's time to introduce "Juice" Williams to the late night infomercial guy with the eyebrows that look like they might eat Norway.
Toledo: Lose to the Toledo Mud Hens, and you lose one of your balls.
Penn State: They're in the same boat. New quarterback, loss of some talent, and Joe Paterno, who's more worried these days about whether or not Honus Wagner is the king of the planet Farqhuartz.
Michigan State: Dantonio will be so uptight for this game that his head will explode on national TV. They'll be asking him all week about his argument with Mike Hart this year. I say you put Mike Hart on TV all week and have him tease Dantonio into a frenzy. That, and Michigan State has no talent.
Purdue:
Minnesota: See Purdue
Northworstern: I'm out of funny stuff to say. L:ooyd lost to them three times. I think they've reached their "Beat Michigan" quota for the next twenty five years.
Ohio State: Jim Tressel: Badd Ass. I know it's a different coach and all, but it's in their house, and well, what can I say?

Did I just predict 11-1???
Yup.

Well, one thing I can say about this is that the team should actually be prepared for their first game this year. The Utes are capable, and if Lloyd had still been the coach I would be worried. Remember, last time we played the Utes we won 10-6. This time, if their QB is healthy, he comes in as a very good option QB. Ute fans (I have relatives in Utah) think the kid is good enough to make Heisman noise next season.
Long story short, our D should actually be ready for this kid under the new regime, and it could get ugly.

For much of the schedule, I might have to wait until signing day is over and the date to withdraw your name from the draft is over as well. Teams could be so much different. Example - Ohio State has 13 underclassmen that may submit their names for the draft. In another thread, we're talking about Manningham and Arrington, and people aren't talking about Taylor but we could. And Pryor and Mallett are speculatory.

9-4 is a safe pick, worst case scenario. No way we don't win 9 games. Sure, put that on the record. Best case scenario? I don't think this team has what it takes to run the table, but I don't know what the new staff is capable of doing with this talent. Some people are going nuts over the changes the S&C coach could make. I'm anxious.

It's good to be back. This place is a hard habit to break and seems to be running smoothly again.

Jeth - it is good to have you back. Things are seemingly quieting down (thank God) so the more solid posters at this board, the better. It keeps the clowns away.

Zip - keep up the good work.

i wonder what the odds of having mallett or pryor next year are? both?

if someone could present this information to me, preferably in Venn diagram form, it would be appreciated.

Jethro34
12-27-2007, 01:08 PM
Ooooh, I've never done odds using a Venn before, only compare/contrast. I'll need to work on that a while.

Zip Goshboots

Circle one: Mallett in Michigan
Circle two: Pryor in Michigan
Circle three: Pryor AND Mallett in Michigan

The only problem is coming up with a syllogism to work it out, and I cannot.
However, looking at the Venn Diagram, there is a definite chance both could be here, and a chance that it's one or the other.
I'd say right now that the odds are 32% UM gets Pryor, 94% Mallett stays (don't you think he would have announced it by now?), and 61% that UM gets both.

Utah- W (1-0)

Miami, Oh- W (2-0)

@ Notre Dame- W (3-0)

Wisconsin- W (4-0, 1-0) Donovan, Swan will be gone, and a few key defensive players (Ikeguownu, Hayden) will also be gone, Wisc. won't be that good

Illinois- W (5-0, 2-0) Mendenhall is going to make a mistake going pro, I really don't know how this team won 9 games this year, Juice is a very mediocre QB, and they lose their big defensive leader (Leman) as well...they will come back down to earth...hard

Toledo- W (6-0)

@ Penn St- W (7-0, 3-0) Penn St hasn't beaten UM in forever...

Michigan St- W (8-0, 4-0) See above comment, not to mention MSU lacks talent all over the field (including coaching staff)

Purdue- W (9-0, 5-0)

@ Minnesota- W (10-0, 6-0)

Northwestern- W (11-0, 7-0)

@ Ohio St- L (11-1, 7-1) Not quite there yet...

I'm right there with Zip, theres no reason this team can't be 10-2, 11-1 next year, the Big Ten will be just as bad next year as it was this year (from a national standpoint), and even with the losses of Long, Hart, Henne etc., Michigan still has better talent than 10/11ths of the conference...

Now, from a national standpoint, we won't be as good as our 10-2 or 11-1 record shows (due to a pussy non-conference schedule, and another down year in the BT), but still...if RR can do this, and win the bowl game, and perhaps even keep it close at Columbus, it will be a great start

this whole "transition period" thing is being blown way out of proportion, when you have the talent Michigan does, not to mention the weak ass schedule, they will have the kinks worked out by the ND game...regardless of who is under center

So we can win 11 games with David Cone as our QB?

Sure.

Even Nick Sheridan could win 11 next year...

Artermis

Threet would be our QB if Mallett leaves (say 50/50 right now) and Pryor (we got last visit) doesnt come.

I wasnt impressed with the Utah QB in their bowl game. He to me is in between Dixon and Juice, closer to Juice.

I see a 3 loss year next year. PSU, OSU and Ill. We definitely could beat PSU and Ill though.

If RR wins 11 games next year, he will be god among UM fans.

Wilfredo Ledezma
12-30-2007, 01:04 PM
I don't know if Mallett is actually a 50/50, I'd have to think he wouldn't enjoy missing an entire season...

If Michigan can't get Pryor, and Mallett leaves b/c Loeffler is gone, then I really question why the hell he wanted to be a Wolverine in the first place...

And Artermis, are you serious?? We NEVER lose to Penn State bro...

Artermis
12-30-2007, 06:20 PM
And we never lose to DIAA teams either....ND never loses to Navy....all streaks come to an end at some point.

The game is at PSU, any time it is there I always give them a chance. Plus there QB cant be any worse than moronelli.

Penn St's QB next year will be Daryll Clark, a dual threat QB...
