View Full Version : Ben and Shaq article....The mighty have fallen
Tahoe 12-23-2007, 05:41 PM and why don't we hear about it.

Shaquille O'Neal and Ben Wallace have more in common than tragic circumstances at the free-throw line.
And that's too bad ... for both of them.
The similarities of their simultaneous demise may have escaped the scrutiny and bitter judgments of NBA observers who've been busy celebrating big kids like Dwight Howard and (I can't believe I'm typing this) Chris Kaman.
b-diddy 12-23-2007, 07:17 PM i dont know. before we outright write of wallace, i'd let him get past his bad foot. and if it doesnt work out for him in chicago, i would blame it on a triggershy management, not wallace. i figured when they signed him (and suspect he did too) that he was prt 1 of a 2 prt plan. them balking on a series of blockbuster trades has really been a fiasco, imo. i think in the nba, you have to put your eggs into a few baskets, and cant just hope that a bunch of prospects develop at once.
Tahoe 12-23-2007, 11:05 PM Unfortunately, the big money that lured him to Chicago didn't include veteran teammates prepared to take on the same responsibilities that players like Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton seized in Detroit. Sure, Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich and Luol Deng are very good, young players, but Wallace — the player with the franchise price tag — was unequipped to make the plays needed as the Bulls staggered through November. When a player like Wallace — whose existence as a specialized star was almost entirely dependent upon his ability to bump and run and jump — has these eventual physical breakdowns, they often leave his employer with little more than cap-space hell.
b-diddy 12-23-2007, 11:27 PM they could have landed gasol, AI, garnett, or kobe. istead they drafted 2 PF's with no post game whatsoever (something ben's counterpart ideally would have). they could have made a trade. they probably still can.
right now, alot of their problems have to do with young players and uncertain futures. maybe a new coach would help. they essentially avoided making a tough decision since they hired ben. a blockbuster would have actually made their decisions alot easier, since they wouldnt have multiple young guys worried about K's, and multiple young guys worried about pt and touches. teams work best when all sails are pointed in the same direction.
Tahoe 12-23-2007, 11:32 PM 1. Ben IS getting older
2. They didn't get off to a good start with stupid head band thing.
I think if they had 100 chances to do the deal over, they don't do it 99 times.
b-diddy 12-23-2007, 11:54 PM i dont know. in games ben has played over 30 minutes in, he's still avg 12 rbs a game. i think his demise is pretty much way overrated. ty chandler is still a piece of crap. people act like hes so great, but name me one thing he has ever accomplished.
i wont speculate on what chicago would do. management their seems pretty foolish. infact, joe dumars has to be thrilled with how our division is shaping up, with larrybird and two paxsons in his division, and perenial doormat milwaukee, the pistons are positioned to be the best team in the division for a long long time. now assume global warming wipes out the oter two divisions, and the pistons control of the eastern conferance is pretty much assured forever (or until these teams finally get their heads out of their asses and hire decent management).
Cross 12-24-2007, 02:11 AM they could have won the championship if they traded for gasol during the deadline. they could have made a trade. they probably still can.

If they just wanted to part ways with Deng i fucking guarantee you for sure that we woldnt have had such an easy time with these fuckers.
2 years ago this team had the brightest future...not so much anymore.
Shaquille O'Neal fouled out for the fifth consecutive game on Saturday. He can tie the record by fouling out on Christmas.
He's the first NBA player with five straight DQs since Steve Johnson in 1982, and the seventh player to do so all-time.
He has managed to do this in only 26, 30, 31, 36, and 30 minutes.
Timone 12-24-2007, 07:56 AM Whose death would Stephen A be more upset by: Shaq's or Iverson's?
Big Swami 12-24-2007, 10:01 AM Shaq would be a devastating, discombobulating loss. HOWEVAH,
Timone 12-24-2007, 11:18 AM HOWEVA, YOU TALK ABOUT ALLEN IVERSON AND YOU TALK ABOUT THE LEADER OF THE TEAM I PICKED TO WIN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Timone 12-25-2007, 08:29 PM He deserves it, for his hatred of Slava Medvedenko.
Zekyl 12-25-2007, 09:59 PM If Slava was a black guy, say.....LaSlava Medvedenko......Steven A. would love him.
