editorial: I used to go to a ton of punk shows, around ten years ago. I remember a new fad where bands passed out lyrics before shows, fans sang along, and suddenly mosh pits were frowned upon. I'm glad to say that I was turned off by that and stopped going to a lot of shows due to what is now known as, emo.

Honestly, Fugazi isn't emo by any stretch but they have been very anti-moshpit too.

Can someone explain he goth/emo distinction for me?

I like some gothic music (Sisters of Mercy, early Cult, etc.) but they don't sing about emotions and being depressed, like some of the stuff that I have heard that I consider emo.

Honestly, I don't like Fugazi all that much anymore. If you watch some of those old concert bootlegs, they're pretty self-indulgent and embarrassingly dated.
