Does anyone know where I could get an HR or management internship within an hour of Toledo? My old place of work is cutting all funding from the student-program as part of "budget cuts" so within a few weeks I'll be out of work.

I know someone that is an HR manager, but that is in Waterford, which is more than an hour from Toledo. Also, you should specify whether it's a paid internship or one for credits.

I have to tell my boss today I've been offered a new job. This is going to suck. Hold me. :emo kid:

Will your daily internet time be effected in a negative manner if you were to take this new job?

If so, you have no choice but to refuse it.

I'm not sure. The new job doesn't have an office yet, they're still in the process of buying one in Ann Arbor, that whore. So at least at first I'd probably be working out of my house. There's a lot of travel involved.

Just don't lose track of what is important.

Good luck!

I lost my Administrative Assistant job back in October due to budget cuts too...what the hell is it with places cutting all their students? I thought they wanted students, b/c they are cheaper!!?!?!??

That's what I didn't get. I get paid 10$ an hour, the same as every student here. The new hires (from a temp service) are costing somewhere in the range of 18$ an hour, plus they'll have to work overtime to cover weekend shifts, paying 27$ an hour. I have worked here two and a half years and know the job and everything related to it inside and out. The new temps will have to be brought in and trained, which takes at least 2 weeks, so they'll also be paying these people to train for their new jobs.

What pisses me off even more is that I'm the one that's had to train these assholes!

Ditto, I made $10 an hour, 32 hours a week, as if was taking up "THAT MUCH" of the payroll ...give me a break...

I hate the economy...

Sounds like you're working for some sort of start-up, Big Swami.

Speaking as someone who, long ago and far away, was mildly burned by an A^2 startup... good luck!

They're not a start-up, but they are new to Michigan. They're huge in Chicago.

So I just had my official talk with my boss.

"I just want to assure all of our student employees that its nothing against them and all the great work they've done for us, blah blah blah" Go fuck yourself, Mark. I hate everyone here at UM right now, mostly because I was promised a full time position upon graduation when I was hired 2.5 years ago, the only reason I stayed with this fucking job when I had other opportunities.

So it's done. I'm officially done working with Jed Clampett and moving on to work for Abe Froman. Hope this was the right move.
