Beatles
Led Zepplin
Pink Floyd
Queen
U2
Rolling Stones
Talking Heads
Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode. Hmmmm, I'm gonna have to listen me to some DP to see if they are ahead of The Who, Eagles, etc.
I like Pearl Jam making the list.
Tahoe 12-09-2007, 02:27 AM i don't quite understand how k-fed has been left off this list. shame on you.
Yea, I forgot to add that KFed wins every category, so we'll call the list 'The KFed Wannabees" :(
Tahoe 12-09-2007, 02:29 AM Ten Best Male Vocalists
Elvis Presley
Tom Jones
Frank Sinatra
Whew...You're wantin peeps to go with Tom Jones over ...Marvin Gaye?
Timone 12-09-2007, 05:01 AM Geez, I'm a Pearl Jam fan...but top 10?
Uncle Mxy 12-09-2007, 01:19 PM Lots of classic rock here, yessir. That's kinda narrow if you ask me, but I'll roll with it. As far as Tahoe's "singles list", to me, most of those songs are great songs, but they're just not those 3-4 minute catchy 45s you put on the record player. Purely in that context, I disagree with most of his choices:
Riders of the storm the Doors
I love the song baby, but it's long, baby, long.
I'd go with Break On Through (To The Other Side).
Imagine John Lennon
(Just Like) Starting Over is a single.
Imagine, Give Peace A Chance, etc. are anthems.
Bohemian Rhapsody, Freddie Mercury/Queen
Again, that's not really a single to me... this is the answer to the question "what's opera, doc?".
Crazy Little Thing Called Love -- now that's a fuckin' single.
BTW, Freddy Mercury didn't write all of those great Queen songs, not by a long, shot. Everyone in the band wrote at least one distinct #1 hit.
Like a Rolling Stone Bob Dylan
I just can't dig Dylan the way others can.
Write songs and let someone else sing 'em.
I'd go with Lay Lady Lay, because he doesn't sound like himself.
Hey Jude The Beatles
Liked the B-side better as a single. I hear they used in in a Nike commercial.
With or Without you Bono
To me, that's more anthem than single.
I love the song Desire -- that one makes me wanna drive a car at 100 mph to some babe's place and have wham-bam-thankyamam sloppy sex.
Every Breath you take Sting
Yeah, it's a single with a great bass line. Yeah, it's overused.
I'd go with Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, assuming you really mean The Police. If you're talking Sting's solo career, that's largely defined by "not releasing traditional poppy catchy singles for fear he sound like The Police".
Stairway Led Zeplin
Immigrant Song all the way. I will be your overlord! Heck, Stairway To Heaven wasn't even a single in the U.S.
Hound Dog or Burning love or Love me tender Elvis
Wrong. :) The correct answer is Jailhouse Rock... just ask Joliet Jake!
I walk the line or Ring of fire Johnny Cash
I realize it's a song that sounds like classic one-hit wonder material, but I'd have to go with A Boy Named Sue here.
Lets get it on. Marvin Gaye
Ok, this one is hard. I'll go with I Heard It Through The Grapevine today, but yeah, I could easily agree with Tahoe on this one on any given day.
Rolling stones too many songs to choose from.
pink floyd (which single?)
the who (which single?)
Cheater. :) Pink Floyd isn't really a singles band. The Stones... uhh... I'll go with Start Me Up, because the lyrics are just awesome. The Who? Let's see what Big Swami and others from m.m.my generation have to say.
Candle in the wind Elton John
I think you need to be more specific. The live '80s version is better than the Princess Di-luted one. Picking a favorite Elton single is hard for me. If I said Philadelphia Freedom, I'm sure someone would come up with something I like equally as much.
Sweet child of mine Guns n' roses
I don't really think of GNR as a singles band, but Welcome To The Jungle is cool as singles go.
Ziggy Stardust David bowie
Bauhaus did a better cover of Ziggy Stardust than Bowie's original. For me, when I think Bowie singles, it's Let's Dance.
Under the bridge RHC Peppers
I prefer Scar Tissue, but that's just me. Under The Bridge is a fine single.

Big Swami 12-10-2007, 12:07 PM What he really forgot was New Edition. Them fellas was the shit.
Timone 12-10-2007, 12:10 PM He also forgot Zack Attack, even though there's chicks in the band. Still a great teeny bopper band regardless.

MoTown 12-10-2007, 12:16 PM I don't have Zack Attack in my arsenal. I'll have to go the "Boy Band Music" store and check them out.
Good call on Hanson, though.
(I actually kind of liked New Edition when I was a kid)
