View Full Version : 2008 NBA draft
Glenn 06-26-2008, 03:53 PM I'm not watching a single minute of this.
Seriously?
I think it's going to be great.
The last few trade deadlines have been so disappointing, this has the potential to be crazy.
Timone 06-26-2008, 03:54 PM As serious as my penis is small (very).
Glenn 06-26-2008, 03:57 PM Take this for what it is worth, but Steve Lavin was on ESPN Radio this afternoon and he said that he thinks Mayo belongs around #15.
He said that he's a shooting guard that is going to be forced to play PG, and that is the toughest transition to make in the sport.
This should be good.
Timone 06-26-2008, 03:58 PM Maybe it's because I really don't follow any of this stuff and I'm just not interested, I don't know.
Timone 06-26-2008, 04:03 PM Plus, I have shit to do tonight and... I don't know...
Glenn 06-26-2008, 04:03 PM Plus, I have shit to do tonight and... I don't know...
Home Depot?
Timone 06-26-2008, 04:04 PM Home Depot?
Did Bubbles tell you?
Timone 06-26-2008, 04:06 PM Man, I'm really not sure... I'll really have to check my schedule for tonight...
Glenn 06-26-2008, 04:21 PM :chad:
Updated: June 26 -- 4:01 p.m. ET
The Spurs sent an e-mail to every team in the league at 3:30 p.m. saying that they were willing to move the 26th pick. The e-mail asked league executives to "E-mail us your interest and your offers to 26."
That's the first time I've heard of something like this in all of my years covering the draft. Make your Spurs pitch below in our comments section.
WTF are they doing? Who needs to get younger NOW more than the Spurs?
Unless they know that their window is closing (closed) and they are trying to get someone that can help now.
Timone 06-26-2008, 04:21 PM They're senile.
Glenn 06-26-2008, 04:23 PM Man, there is a lot of shit going on right now.
My head is about to explode.
I'll be sure to email my passwords to Matt.
Glenn 06-26-2008, 04:51 PM If anyone cares at this point, Ford just revised again to 7.1

Tahoe 06-26-2008, 08:00 PM So it comes time for the draft and no one is around. LOSER SITE!
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 08:01 PM Eh, nothing noteworthy of which to speak.
D's Nuts 06-26-2008, 08:03 PM Im here watching draftcast on espn while at work. not like its the most exciting thing to stare at.
Does anyone else think that Love is going to suck?
Im here watching draftcast on espn while at work. not like its the most exciting thing to stare at.
Does anyone else think that Love is going to suck?
Yes.
D's Nuts 06-26-2008, 08:07 PM Yes.
Thanks for agreeing with me.
Atticus771 06-26-2008, 08:07 PM Well, the Knicks just doomed themselves to mediocrity... again. Gallinari probably isn't going to be popular in NY given all of the boos.
Darko PT 2?
Edit2: New York fans are the worst in the world. Yeah, yeah, yeah... we get it. You don't like him. Don't keep booing and booing for ten minutes.
D's Nuts 06-26-2008, 08:08 PM Knicks are retarded. Should have taken Bayless.
D's Nuts 06-26-2008, 08:11 PM Also drafting a Euro player into the biggest media market in the world? Sure, no pressure at all. I bet they won't expect much of him anyways......
Augustine? When you have Felton and J-Rich? You have Nazi Mohammed at center for god's sake.
D's Nuts 06-26-2008, 08:28 PM Not a good move by the Bobcats at all. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORIBLE PICK
D's Nuts 06-26-2008, 08:29 PM Brooke Lopez isnt an upgrade over Nazr?????????
Is it really that hard to run a team these days?
Atticus771 06-26-2008, 08:43 PM Jason Thompson this early? Wow. Too bad for us.
D's Nuts 06-26-2008, 08:43 PM What the hell are the Kings doing? Seriously, who is running the good ship lollipop over there?
Tahoe 06-26-2008, 08:51 PM I don't have a lot to add but I am definately reading y'alls comments. So keep em coming if you have the time.
It sounds like no one is doing anything that makes sense.
D's Nuts 06-26-2008, 08:56 PM This is the draft of Bizzaro Land. Wake me up tomorrow when the reality draft starts.
Don't tell me Phoenix is planning on keeping a first round pick for once in the past 3 years......
Atticus771 06-26-2008, 09:13 PM Lopez isn't so smart -- "Who's the coach for New Jersey?" Idiot.
Lopez isn't so smart -- "Who's the coach for New Jersey?" Idiot.
yeah what a dumbass, seriously. lawl.
Oh boy Charlotte is up next. Maybe that's why they took a guard, because their big man they wanted would be available here? I forgot they had 2 1st rounders
realistic 06-26-2008, 09:37 PM Bucks hit the jackpot by finding someone who actually wants to play in Milwaukee and who, unlike Yi, isn't concerned about the limited Asian population. Nice tall white drink of water - he'll fit in just fine.
how is darrell arthur still available?
Atticus771 06-26-2008, 09:53 PM This draft really is messed up. Looks like we're going to get a decent big.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 09:57 PM Yea I wouldn't be so sure about that.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 09:57 PM LMAO- arthur is a stud waiting to happen. houston should've taken him.
true, he needs to bulk up about 20 lbs. but in a couple of years he's a stud. reminds me of a young, athletic, pre-injury mcdyess!
only a few more picks for us!!!!
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 09:57 PM CDR, arthur, walker. i'd go bananas for any of those guys right now.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 09:58 PM Spurs will take George Hill.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:01 PM Spurs will take George Hill.
Damn I'm good.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:02 PM lol- thank you san antonio for taking a sleeper 2nd rounder at #26!
CDR, arthur, walker. i'd go bananas for any of those guys right now.
Exactly what I was thinking. At least one of them will be available when we're up.
I want Arthur. Fucking steal at #29.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:04 PM i know PG is not a need. but IF we move billups down the line, there would be a need for a backup PG. and chalmers is a kid i LOVE too. he can play a big of SG and be like hunter- he's a very good defender and can play a bit of both G positions.
don't be shocked completely if we take him as BPA. then again, there's some other damn fine talent in arthur, CDR, walker, or jordan. jordan has perhaps the most boom or bust potential. so he could REALLY be something or he could be a complete bust.
Mr. Oobir 06-26-2008, 10:04 PM Exactly what I was thinking. At least one of them will be available when we're up.
And I'll bet that the Pistons won't pick any of them.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:05 PM yeah i'm wondering about this whole kidney thing......that is the only reason he's dropping like this. he's a lottery talent and IF he can stay healthy he's going to make a lot of teams look bad.
super SUPER steal for someone if he is healthy.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:05 PM i don't care i'd take him...at 29 there's no risks...only rewards
And I'll bet that the Pistons won't pick any of them.
That's what I'm afraid of.
I really, really don't want Jordan.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:08 PM yeah i'm trying not to get TOO excited. this could be a year we take a guy NOBODY saw coming- like the year we took maxiell. that turned out pretty damn good, so i'll reserve final judgment until we see the finished product.
but right now i'm really hoping for: arthur, walker, CDR, or chalmers. in that order probably.
again, chalmers is not an immediate need. but IMO you take BPA and worry about the rest later. you can then deal from your position of strength. chalmers is versatile (which joe loves for his guards) tough, defends well, is clutch, a winner, and has a high b-ball IQ.
just trying to make a case for him depending on who else is left.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:08 PM Gone.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:08 PM fuckin hornets took him. that's a HUGE steal for them. they're building one hell of a young team down there. BASTARDS!
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:09 PM Good lord, Portland could have some fucking solid bigs.
HW, isn't that pick going to Portland?
God damnit.
Oden, Aldridge, Arthur? Dayum.....
shags 06-26-2008, 10:10 PM Hoping for Douglas-Roberts now.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:10 PM need i remind everyone that donte green is still there too.....? forgot about him! he's an unfinished product but is one hell of a prospect at that! don't sleep on him!
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:11 PM Don't care anymore -- don't know enough about anyone left.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:11 PM sorry- i forgot about that. i hate portland. they have WITHOUT QUESTION assembled the most talent in the entire nba. yup. the whole league.
a lot of that talent is very young and still has a ways to go. but there is not a more talented roster, potentially, in the nba IMO. they could be a powerhouse for a long time if things go right for them.
bastards.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:13 PM well i'll tell you then: if we get CDR, greene, chalmers, or walker, we should be doing backflips. all are excellent prospects who can contribute next year right away AND even more down the line.
i'm thrilled about it- only 1 pick left. let's see who we get. i agree though- it could be a total shocker with some euro dude. so hold your breath!
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:13 PM Do we have any picks in the 2nd round?
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:15 PM hold your breath fellas. i'm getting a feeling we're taking the turkish kid asik. they call him another okur type guy, so IF he's the pick we should be patient and wait to see how he does. maybe i'm wrong but i've got a feeling!
or maybe it'll even be jawai. let's see!
Do we have any picks in the 2nd round?
#59
CDR or Walker, please.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:16 PM yup. but not until the 2nd last pick- #59.
grizz took greene. so i'm hoping for CDR, walker, or chalmers.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:16 PM 59
O THAT WILL BE EXCITING
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:16 PM i wouldn't be mad with the turk or the dude from australia though. those are some nice big men.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:17 PM lol- we got amir that late, so you never know. it'll likely be a euro project or a d-league kid. but don't dismiss them completely. it's very possibly we could still get a decent player there.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:18 PM lol- we got amir that late, so you never know. it'll likely be a euro project or a d-league kid. but don't dismiss them completely. it's very possibly we could still get a decent player there.
I know but I like making jokeses
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:20 PM make the pick already!!!!! what's the holdup??????????unless there's a trade....?
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:21 PM the clock expired a minute ago! WTF!!!!!???
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:22 PM They wait until the ESPN guys are dun shooting the shit.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:22 PM seriously- what the hell is going on? this is the longest between any 2 picks yet. something happened.
MOtherfuckers
i wanted explosive not fat
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:22 PM Not real excited about this one.
Uncle Mxy 06-26-2008, 10:22 PM Do we take DeAndre Jordan?
Mr. Oobir 06-26-2008, 10:23 PM D.J. White?
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:23 PM Maxiell on the way out, perhaps?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:23 PM what are we going to do with another undersized PF?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:23 PM I would rather have CDR, Bill Walker or DeAndre...
DJ was a 2nd rounder
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:24 PM OK, i like DJ white. nice pick. #29 might be a little earlier than i thought but he would be gone a few picks later. so not a bad pick at all.
a bit of john salley in this kid with the fire he has.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:24 PM blah. fuck a DJ White.
Hopefully I'll eat these words sometime this year. preferably early.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:24 PM Actually I like the pick, but yea it could put pressure on mAxiell, because unlike maxiell Rebounding and post play is this guy's strengths.
i cry when i see cdr and walker still on the board. now boston will take one of them.
yes another undersized big man. if we go big, go for a true center.
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:25 PM My first reaction was *puke*
On further though, I'm encouraged by all the talk about rebounding. We NEED rebounders.
I was hoping for a legit backup 3 though.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:26 PM Ray its a pure post player who plays very well all around and is seasoned enough to get on the court right away.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:26 PM Seriously, this ONLY makes sense to me if we are really looking to deal Maxiell or a starting big. There's just not room for them both if we want to play them both the way the roster is currently structured.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:26 PM he ain't undersized. he's a big boy and can play a bit of C too. 6-9 250+ with a mean streak and nice fundamentals. he likes to bang on both ends of the court.
he's a good fit IMO. i really wanted walker but i can definitely get on board with this pick. i'm guessing we weren't comfortable enough with walker's knee at #29.
white can join the rotation tomorrow, no problem. IMO this is even more reason to trade sheed. and now we don't necessarily need a big in return- we can package sheed with another starter and then have dice, j-max, AJ, and white as our frontline. not too shabby.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:28 PM you don't draft a C just for need. you take the best big boy and move on. there are no great Cs at this spot so you take a damn good PF and don't look back.
i don't think this pick affect j-max as much as it does sheed.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:28 PM i cry when i see cdr and walker still on the board. now boston will take one of them.
yes another undersized big man. if we go big, go for a true center.
All the available true centers were iffy. Getting a true post scorer and rebounder you dont have to groom in those areas is a big secondary grab.
As far as SF, no. In Curry's set up I expect Affalo to flourish with a bigger emphasis on defense.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:28 PM the one thing I do like about White is he can rebound...which is something Maxiell can't do well
perhaps he could turn out to be a Leon Powe
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:29 PM man i wish we had that 2nd rounder from minny THIS year and not next. that would be perfect to get walker or possibly CDR or chalmers. but CDR probably goes to boston here.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:29 PM Seriously, this ONLY makes sense to me if we are really looking to deal Maxiell or a starting big. There's just not room for them both if we want to play them both the way the roster is currently structured.
Theres no reality where we keep everybody. The question is who we push out or who he beats out.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:30 PM the powe comparison is pretty close. i think white has a bit more athleticism and fire to him. but it's not a bad comparison actually.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:30 PM That's what I'm saying. This pick points to the fact that someone almost HAS to be on the way out.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:30 PM the one thing I do like about White is he can rebound...which is something Maxiell can't do well
perhaps he could turn out to be a Leon Powe
Thats an insult, Leon powe is mediocre in the post. I think he can be a poor man's Elton Brand(which is who he reminded me of in the couple games i caught).
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:30 PM Dyess, Sheed, Amir, White, Maxiell, Samb
I guess we can officially say our good byes to Valtar and Theo...no more room
Varsity 06-26-2008, 10:31 PM some late 2nd round guys i really like:
obviously DJ white but i don't think he'll be there at #59
jamont gordan
demarcus nelson
gary forbes
kyle weaver
sonny weems
joe crawford
all might be there around #59 and i think offer nice potential down the line.
LOL..Yeah, I guess he wasn't available at 59...more undersized bigs..yes!
shags 06-26-2008, 10:31 PM According to Ford, we are trading White to Seattle for the 32nd and 46th pick.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:31 PM LMAO. talented but very troubled kid. could work out for them but i'd take CDR over him in a heartbeat.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:32 PM Thats an insult, Leon powe is mediocre in the post. I think he can be a poor man's Elton Brand(which is who he reminded me of in the couple games i caught).
well i know, Leon powe was a 2nd rounder, i but i meant in the mold as far as what he can give us this year...
leon powe had some big games for boston, and part of that had to be that he was polished having been at cal for 4 yrs...
dj white isn't a project
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:32 PM the powe comparison is pretty close. i think white has a bit more athleticism and fire to him. but it's not a bad comparison actually.
I disagree, Powe is not close in intensity and is not a scoring option or defender. Those are things i'll be looking for from White from day one. My only worry is injury.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:33 PM Thats an insult, Leon powe is mediocre in the post. I think he can be a poor man's Elton Brand(which is who he reminded me of in the couple games i caught).
Well, if Rodney Stuckey is a poor man's Dwyane Wade, then that should be nothing to be ashamed of.
Also, really is this going to be a traded pick for 32?
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:33 PM are you serious? i'd hate to lose white but those are 2 good picks still.
According to Ford, we are trading White to Seattle for the 32nd and 46th pick.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:33 PM Powe is actually a decent defender Codename...as much as I hate him, he held his own in the playoffs and during the season when KG was injured...
According to Ford, we are trading White to Seattle for the 32nd and 46th pick.
Really??!?
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:34 PM roster is not final yet. sheed could easily be dealt so let's see how it all shapes up.
Dyess, Sheed, Amir, White, Maxiell, Samb
I guess we can officially say our good byes to Valtar and Theo...no more room
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:34 PM According to Ford, we are trading White to Seattle for the 32nd and 46th pick.
Walker as a second rounder may be tempting to Joe. But I dont wanna give up White Personally, I want some inside scorers damnit.
Tahoe 06-26-2008, 10:34 PM I don't think White has the athleticism Powe has with the injury.
Varsity 06-26-2008, 10:34 PM are you serious? i'd hate to lose white but those are 2 good picks still.
If this is true I'm so freakin hype!...CDR fellas...C-D-R
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:34 PM if DJ White gives the Pistons what Powe gave the C's this past year...I'll be very pleased...
anything more than that, for me at least, would be a bonus
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:35 PM To be honest, White doesn't look all that athletic to me on some of the highlights I'm watching. Intense, yes....
They just mentioned it.
I'd be down, 46 is still a good pick.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:35 PM Scott just mentioned the trade. Sounds set in stone.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:35 PM Powe is actually a decent defender Codename...as much as I hate him, he held his own in the playoffs and during the season when KG was injured...
He barely played in the playoffs because at times he was flat footed pussy on defense. He does not compare to White. But looks like we lose white. :( damnit Joe cook something sharp up.
Mr. Oobir 06-26-2008, 10:35 PM D.J. White trade?
EDIT: Man, I'm always late.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:35 PM is that trade thing legit, or was shags bullshitting us
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:36 PM C-D-R >>> DJ White...
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:36 PM See above, Wil.
Tahoe 06-26-2008, 10:36 PM To be honest, White doesn't look all that athletic to me on some of the highlights I'm watching. Intense, yes....
^ Thats what I was attempting to say.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:36 PM ESPN says they're about to talk up a trade involving DJ white. wow.
i'll have to see who is available at #32 and #46. i have to think we'd take walker at #32. and then #46 would be BPA.
too bad we couldn't have waited on white and maybe got him AND walker in the 2nd if we made that trade. but i guess seattle wanted him.
this shoudl be interesting!!!!!!!!!!
Hermy 06-26-2008, 10:37 PM AWESOME! 2ND ROUNDERS....MOUNT UP!
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:38 PM I'd rather have CDR than Walker...
but I want no part of Chalmers...
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:38 PM it looks like it's happening. #29 for #32 and #46. very good value, no doubt.
but let's see which players we can get! i'm excited!
get walker or CDR and then let's see who is at #46. i'm pretty hyped as i think both players could play in our rotation next year, in some role. it all depends who it is!!!!!!!!
bring it on!!!!!!!!
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:39 PM hey, we dont have to guarantee a contract to pick #32!
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:39 PM i don't want chalmers over those guys. but i would like him. he's a hell of a player IMO.
if we deal billups he can step right in as a solid backup PG/SG on both ends. but yeah- it's gotta be CDR or walker i'm thinking.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:40 PM ok...here we go again..
jordan, c-d-r, walker...
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:40 PM i wonder if DeAndre would slip to 46...he'd be a solid project...mega upside
talk about the damn trade.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:40 PM no we don't. but whoever we take will make the team anyway. and probably the 9-10 man rotation too.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:41 PM yeah come on- stop teasing. i hate these stupid interviews.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:41 PM time is up. let's have the pick! this is apparently going to us!!!
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:41 PM espn mentioned it.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:42 PM perry must've sweet talked presti for us
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:42 PM WHAT THE FUCK?
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:42 PM What the fuck?!
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:42 PM fuck me. are you kidding?!!!!!!!!!
Tahoe 06-26-2008, 10:42 PM Another Walter but a better one
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:42 PM WHITE > SHARPE
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:42 PM wow he wont make the team
Mr. Oobir 06-26-2008, 10:43 PM Um, what? Another PF?
c'mon, jesus christ....why?
wtf is joe thinking. this trade blows now, DJ is better.but thank god we have the 46 now.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:43 PM Shannon Sharpe's kid?
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:43 PM Another Walter but a better one
not really.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:43 PM why not take this kid at #46 or #59? he's not #32 worthy, i don't care if he does pan out. take walker or CDR and then this kid LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!
come on guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:43 PM WTF IS THSI!?!?!!??!
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:43 PM Wait....
What the fuck?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:43 PM summer league body
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:44 PM Yeah. Umm.....
What the FUCK?
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:44 PM CDR, Jordan, and Walker were ALL AVAILABLE!!! WTF IS THIS!!?!?!?
Atticus771 06-26-2008, 10:44 PM Wow. Just wow.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:44 PM Walter Sharpe, undrafted free agent
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:44 PM Why not draft Drew Naymick at 32...
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:44 PM No shit. God damn...
Mr. Oobir 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM Um, what? Another PF?
No, really. What?
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM Can we just take Andreas Glyniadakis?
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM THE FUCK IS THIS!?!??!
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM Joe D with the ultimate charade. pretend to challenge maxiell for the spot but downgrade to a loser to make it easy.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM i much rather white than this kid. granted, i don't know about him. but on the surface i'd rather just keep white at #29. this kid had better surprise us like j-max did the year we were all moaning that we took him too early.
i hope we know what we're doing. we had better damn well get CDR or walker or SOMEBODY damn good and PROVEN at #46. cause IMO we could've taken this kid there instead of taking him at #32!!!!!!!!!
micknugget 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM WOW. Joe makes a great trade then eats a retard sandwich before he makes the pick. Go figure.
Varsity 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM Is this guy even making our team?
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM Jesus is Portland stocking up on bigs or what?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:45 PM Mejia > Sharpe
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:46 PM portland gets another stud big- dorsey. wait another year or 2 and then just hand them the next 5 titles.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:46 PM bilas didn't have very encouraging things about sharpe that would lead me to believe he's a 'sleeper' or any other variation of the sort...
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:46 PM WOW. Joe makes a great trade then eats a retard sandwich before he makes the pick. Go figure.
hahahhaa. POTY material right here.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:47 PM Walter Sharpe
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:47 PM i never moaned about drafting maxiell. I thought he was a mean bastard in cincy very barkley like.
But i have nothing good to say about sharpe. He's smaller than white, probably not as good in the post, and its just bad.
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:48 PM the only explanation is that Dumars got tired and fell asleep, and some assistant picked a name out of a hat.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:48 PM it's not even so much that i don't believe in sharpe. i have no clue about the kid and maybe he is a super sleeper who we'll all love- like the way okur shocked us when we took him.
but you can't honestly tell me this kid wouldn't have been there at #46!!!! or maybe even at #59!!!!!!!!!!
not smart IMO. so we had better damn well get lucky and still have another real good player at #46. someone we should have taken at #32 instead of this kid. *roll eyes*
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:48 PM it's like they felt obligated to draft an undersized PF...
would it kill to draft a guard?
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:49 PM Wait, Valter Sharpee? Who's that. Does he have long hair too?
We could've gotten Sharpe at #59. Why? Why?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:49 PM it's not even so much that i don't believe in sharpe. i have no clue about the kid and maybe he is a super sleeper who we'll all love- like the way okur shocked us when we took him.

:cogent:
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:49 PM We gave up a guy who rebounds and plays in the post for WALTER SHARPE!? I'm sorry, did Flip Saunders secretly get promoted to GM!??!?
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:49 PM I'm about to get back on ps3. this draft is kinda sour.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:50 PM We could've gotten Sharpe as an undrafted free agent...
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:50 PM I guess John Hammond was worth more than we thought.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:50 PM i love how ESPN hasn't said shit about sharpe. they are as clueless as we all are.
he's about the 30th ranked PF on most lists i see. again, he could be a super sleeper and i have to believe we've done our homework on him.
but i'll say it again- why not take CDR or walker here and THEN take this kid, if we have such a hard-on for him?
Atticus771 06-26-2008, 10:50 PM The minister of information, Keith Langlois, thinks this might have been a cost-cutting move, as these second-rounders don't necessarily have to be paid. So maybe we're using the gained cap space for trades/free-agent signings?
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:51 PM The minister of information, Keith Langlois, thinks this might have been a cost-cutting move, as these second-rounders don't necessarily have to be paid. So maybe we're using the gained cap space for trades/free-agent signings?
I was going to mention that possibility. Even then, at least a bigger name would have better trade value.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:52 PM i bet whoever we pick at 59 will be more relavant than Walter Fucking Sharpe...
i'm going to see if Sharpe has a facebook.
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:52 PM Well Jordan is gone. I'm sure CDR and Walker will both be gone when our next pick comes.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:52 PM i have to believe that sharpe is the key piece in a deal bringing elton brand to detroit.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:53 PM lol. This is fucking ludicrous.
At least the weekend starts tomorrow
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:53 PM sharpe was academically ineligible
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 10:54 PM Elton brand in detroit and keeping sheed is a true pipe dream worth a damn.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:54 PM lol just added Sharpe as a friend on facebook. Damn I hope he accepts!
i bet whoever we pick at 59 will be more relavant than Walter Fucking Sharpe...
i'm going to see if Sharpe has a facebook.
lulz he does
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:55 PM 52 percent FT shooter, is Sharpe
that should be fun
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:55 PM Wil that was a fucking brilliant idea.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 10:56 PM chad ford's analysis:
I like this pick for Dumars. Sharpe is a total sleeper who really emerged in the past few weeks as a legit prospect. The Pistons love his athleticism, length and scoring ability. He's a project headed for the D-League, but the Pistons had great luck developing Amir Johnson there and will try it again with Sharpe.
what i read:
"even though this kid is a super sleeper and the pistons really did their homework on him and believe he'll be a hell of a player for them down the line, it is ridiculously absurd to draft him at #32 when they could've taken CDR or walker and then taken this kid at #46. or hell, they could've taken CDR or walker, another kid at #46 and probably STILL taken this guy at #59. shoot, he's such a sleeper that detroit is the only team who knows him. no need to take him at #32. even i am having a hard time keeping a straight face when i say that i know who the kid is."
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:56 PM But really.
Has anyone figured out what the fuck this is all about?
lol just added Sharpe as a friend on facebook. Damn I hope he accepts!
i added the old, fat white walter sharpe. is that not who we drafted?
lololololol
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 10:57 PM ONLY 9 MORE PICKS!
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:57 PM Ford is cronies with Joe D, so his analysis is worthless on all Pistons related shit.
metr0man 06-26-2008, 10:58 PM http://www.bulletsforever.com/2008/6/9/548673/the-brief-history-of-walte
During Sharpe's sophomore year with the Bulldogs, he missed the beginning of the season due to academic ineligibility and only ended up dressing out six games (averaging 9.3 points and 5.0 boards) before ultimately being dismissed from the team in January of '06. Missing another practice was the final straw.
Next stop: UAB. Before even making it to UAB, Walter Sharpe was shot with a tiny bullet in the stomach in April 2006. Curiously, he tried to deny he was shot and attempted to hide his wound from police and medics. In August of 2007, Sharpe was one of five UAB Blazers arrested for disorderly conduct after a night on the town in Birmingham. UAB head coach, Mike Davis, credited the arrest with bringing his team together. No word if other college coaches have caught onto this phenomenon.
After sitting out a year and finally suiting up for the Blazers, Walter Sharpe averaged 14.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in UAB's first 12 games of the 07-08 season. However, in January of 2008, Sharpe was declared academically ineligible for the rest of the year. He was subsequently been diagnosed with narcolepsy, which has been used as an excuse for academic woes. Sharpe had hopes to receive treatment and suit up for the Blazers in 2008-2009, but for one reason or another, opted to declare for the NBA draft instead.
LMAO! is this a joke!?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 10:58 PM i added Sharpe as a friend...now just need him to accept

A shining analysis.
CindyKate 06-26-2008, 11:00 PM Ford is cronies with Joe D, so his analysis is worthless on all Pistons related shit.
Yeah. I think it was him who did the post-draft grading in 2003 and gave Detroit the highest rating.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:00 PM someone google sharpe. is he related to dumars? or maybe he has some incriminating pictures of dumars or something.....?
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:00 PM Sounds like Tyrus Thomas....
And by that I mean an athletic bunch of punks.
Holy shit maybe CDR and Walker will make it to #46...
It wouldn't matter anyways because we wouldn't take them anyways.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:01 PM Sounds like Tyrus Thomas....
I don't suppose we could trade him for LaMarcus Aldridge though...
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:02 PM Holy shit maybe CDR and Walker will make it to #46...
It wouldn't matter anyways because we wouldn't take them anyways.
God, that would be negligence...
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:04 PM even this Sonny Weems kid looks like more a steal than Walter Sharpe
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:04 PM CDR gone.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:04 PM bye CDR, too bad you couldn't come play in your hometown...
damnit Joseph
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:05 PM This is worse than Darko.
OK not that bad.
Mr. Oobir 06-26-2008, 11:06 PM Bilas: I certainly think [Chris Douglas-Roberts] is better than some of the players that have been selected in the second round.
Sounds like a job for the WTF translator.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:06 PM God man, solid defender, scorer, 6'7'' guard, from Detroit....
would've made a perfect Piston...
damnit
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:10 PM i think it's hilarious ESPN STILL hasn't said or shown anything about sharpe.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 11:11 PM my money is on us drafting bison dele, then trading the pick for dennis rodman and a bottle of hennessey. Work your magic Joe. :emo kid: [smilie=heatsmiley2:
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:11 PM Glyniadakis?
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:12 PM pacers got jawai. damnit.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 11:12 PM Can somebody post insider draft tracker on sharpe, if theres anything there.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:13 PM if we get walker at #46, i'll sleep well and forget this whole mess happened with the #32. that would still be huge.
then we could just pretend that we took walker at #32 and sharpe at #46. that would make slightly more sense.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:14 PM Walker will go to Utah or SA.
Hermy 06-26-2008, 11:14 PM http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Just-By-The-Numbers--Evaluating-This-Year-s-Power-Foward-Crop-2935/
GOOD NUMBERS IN LIMITED PLAY.
If Utah passes on Walker, he'll be there at #46 for us....SA will take a Euro.
I'm betting we take someone I've never heard of before, again...
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:15 PM haitian sasquatch jr. gets picked by the kings.
gusman 06-26-2008, 11:16 PM I dont understand how anyone can say we did anything with amir,
he has done NOTHING
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:17 PM apparently chalmers is getting dealt to miami. fuckers. another reason for me to hate miami. chalmers is a damn good player and could end up being better than at least one of the PGs taken in the lotto IMO. mark my words.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:17 PM AMIR GIVES US MODERATELY MODERATE EXCITEMENT
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 11:18 PM I personally dont give a shit about Bill walker. just a jumper imo.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:18 PM I bet we take Trent Plaisted.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:19 PM nothing except show a LOT of potential. if you can't see that then i can't help you.
no, he hasn't put up big numbers over the longhaul. but when has he been given minutes to do so? in every instance where he's played, he's produced. especially recently. he's improved by leaps and bounds and is a ridiculous athlete who works hard.
potential is only good if you put it to use. but he's still so young and hasn't been given many real chances. so i don't see how you can be anything but extremely excited for what he's shown in limited play.
he's a steal already just for what he's shown glimpses of. if he can produce at that same rate in more minutes, then he's a super steal. and who knows what else down the line.
Well Walkers still there. We'll see.
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 11:20 PM I bet we take Trent Plaisted.
Can we just pick Cheick Samb a second time.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:21 PM i disagree. walker is very good at getting to the hole and is a very good defender/rebounder from what i've seen. he has a pretty good jump shot too.
wait and see- i think he'll be a hell of a player.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:22 PM here comes the #46. please be walker, please be walker!
i like another sleeper, gordon too. but let's take walker here.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:22 PM Can we just pick Cheick Samb a second time.
Can we engineer a 300 lb Samb clone, put him through accelerated aging, fake a birth certificate, and draft him?
If so, I'm game.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:23 PM PLEASE be walker!!!!!
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:23 PM GOD I AM A VISIONARY
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:24 PM God he looks terrible, why fucking not Walker?
What a joke, what a joke.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:24 PM does he have to go on a mormon mission or anything since he's from BYU?
god damnit. we just drafted a whitey from BYU. good night.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:24 PM i hate you. seriously. look what you've done to us!!!!! this is absolute garbage. give me back DJ white, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bet we take Trent Plaisted.
Varsity 06-26-2008, 11:24 PM yes! The new Shawn Bradley out of BYU
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 11:25 PM nothing except show a LOT of potential. if you can't see that then i can't help you.
no, he hasn't put up big numbers over the longhaul. but when has he been given minutes to do so? in every instance where he's played, he's produced. especially recently. he's improved by leaps and bounds and is a ridiculous athlete who works hard.

he's a steal already just for what he's shown glimpses of. if he can produce at that same rate in more minutes, then he's a super steal. and who knows what else down the line.
potential is in every draft player out there. In reality he's shown nothing consistent but jumping out of the gym as an undersized tweener at SF.
Harold Minor is about what you have at the moment, and before you get pissy about the comparison, its actually an insult to Minor who was an elite scorer in college along with his jumping.
I could be wrong, but i dont care about getting Bill Walker.
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:25 PM Haha. I looked at Bilas' best available and picked the name I didn't recognize (or think was a real person).
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:25 PM Plaisted = Rafael Araujo
both went to BYU, both suck
Black Dynamite 06-26-2008, 11:26 PM good call on the pick Ray, just proof that we are purposely tanking this draft.
Higherwarrior 06-26-2008, 11:26 PM notice how quick washington took walker after us?
why didn't we take him! the kid has top 5 potential! i HATE this draft.
in my worst nightmare i didn't think we'd have this bad a draft. unbelievable.
pack it up and go home already. #59 might as well be dr. phil or will ferrel from semi-pro. or some wnba player. shiiiiiiiiiiit
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:27 PM Jesus. Seriously, what the fuck happened out there tonight? Is Joe drunk and taking bribes from people?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:27 PM 54% FT shooter...
once again, although higher than Sharpe's... should be fun
micknugget 06-26-2008, 11:27 PM Plaisted is worth the #46. It's Sharpe at #32 that is the problem.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-26-2008, 11:28 PM Scott Perry's abusing his new job
DrRay11 06-26-2008, 11:28 PM The real problem tonight:
The king of 0's and 1's must be running the draft.
Kstat 06-26-2008, 11:28 PM pack it up and go home already. #59 might as well be dr. phil or will ferrel from semi-pro. or some wnba player. shiiiiiiiiiiit
I believe we drafted Amir Johnson at #56...
