I've been saying this for a couple of weeks, and Ohio State making the National Championship this year just adds fuel. How are Cleveland teams (and surrounding subburbs) doing well?
Just look at their teams:
Cleveland Cavaliers
Perennial losers take a team with one player on it and he needs a game where he makes 34 shots in a row to beat the Pistons to go to the NBA Finals.
Cleveland Browns
A team with zero talent and a QB who no one had ever heard of before this season and their in the thick of the playoff race. Just read the ESPN power ranking comment right before their first game:
"Will rookie Brady Quinn start the season opener against the Steelers? Latest reports indicate he won't. That'd be the smart move. No need to rush the QB of the future for a team unlikely to go anywhere this season."
Cleveland Indians
Not the most talented team, but they hit a home run every time they needed to this season. Every player on that team had one of their best seasons, and they lose in 7 games to the eventual World Series Champions.
Columbus Blue Jackets
Above .500. The Devil doesn't care about hockey.
THE Ohio State Buckeyes
First, make it to the NC game in 2006 and have a Heisman winner. Then, make it to the NC game in basketball by landing three incredible freshman recruits. Finally, and maybe the most annoying of them all, they move up 6 spots in the rankings without playing a game by having every team in front of them lose. EVERY TEAM FROM 1 TO 6!
Something's fishy...
However, like that crappy movie "Bedazzled", every wish comes up just a bit short, and heartbreak ensues for them.
