I'll start with a ??? for the board. This has been discussed before but what are we rollin with for a definition of cool?

Kennedy did some pretty cool stuff stuff but some might not agree that a chick-onda-side is cool.

You've gotta go Ali here. Just look at all the guy has done. I mean, as the President you're expected to do the great things JFK did (not counting the partying), but as a heavyweight boxer you're not expected to do anything but beat the crap out of people. Ali took his publicity and put it to good use. He didn't take any of it for granted at all. He had the world at his fingertips and he chose to be a good person. You have to respect that.

ali has 80 or however many years of being cool, that's the problem, jfk just doesn't have the same body of work.

Some people argue that JFK's actual body of work isn't that much compared to the fame he had and of course still has (I personally neither agree nor disagree with that one).

Ali came out of nowhere to take on a very good champion, never once thought he was going to lose; hell, he had everyone up in arms because he was so sure he would win, and he wins the fight and goes on to be someone who transcended his sport, his reputation and even his own persona.

I'm gonna go with JFK ...a part of it is the PT109 story in WW2 where his boat blew up and he survived on a Island in the middle of nowhere.

The problem I had in voting was that Kennedy had in my opinion the two most important single events that had to be weighed (the PT boat and the Cuban Missile crisis) but still came up short against Ali.

I'm going with JFK. Coolness has a shelf life and if you outlive it it starts to spoil. JFK got his melon pureed at the peak of his cool under epic conspiracy circumstances, preserving his cool for all time.

Ali could've held his own and maybe won this matchup had he the good judgement to die in the ring or something but shaking and mumbling his way into the sunset, his coolness is dripping out the leaky radiator of decrepit old age.

I totally disagree with that G. Old age, and being crippled, ain't for sissies. You don't get to be a 66 year old Parkinson's patient by being made out of sugar candy.
