Simply a move to help cover for Zooms injury. This doens't surprise me reading some of DD's quotes after Zooms injury.

Todd Jones can thank the Southern California Wild Fires for this contract.

at least it's only a 1 year deal, no biggie

now if it were 2...then we'd have some major problems

thats a lot of money, I was thinking the other night laying in bed...How can teams afford to pay all these players so much money. A stadium can only hold so many and I realize that there are other forms of revenue being generated, but it just does not add up

WTF? He wouldn't take 3-4 mil? We couldn't give Gange a one year deal? Good thing I just ate, or I would have lost my appitite.

The only other team that I heard of that was interested in TJ was Atlanta.

He's from there, so maybe he was willing to give them a discount and was looking for the Tigs to overpay, which they did.

Yeah I heard that ATL was interested too, but they are going to have Rafael Soriano close.

We did have to overpay, but DD just went w/ the safe bet rather than having to pay even more and be comitted to more years if we had signed Francisco Cordero or Octavio Dotel.

I like that its only 1 year, but that's WAY to much freaking money. They could have given him 3 million and gotten away with it. Probably would have been reasonable in my eyes too.

The extra money is for all the roller coaster rides fans get. Its not just his pitching.

So the contract is highly backloaded to support growth?
