View Full Version : There is NOTHING special about Mallet
bukdow 11-10-2007, 03:40 PM Mallet is an average QB. All you blue and yellow meat-heads can masturbate about arm-strength until you run out of Vaseline, but Mallet is no great shakes at all.
OSU is going to beat the shit out of UM. Whether Mouth Hart and Chad Vagina play or not. Looks like a 4 loss season, fuckos.
Timone 11-10-2007, 03:41 PM 5 if you count the bowl.
But what's up bukdow? What have you been doing in your time away?

Mailman, your taking the high-road is acknowledged and appreciated. Between working, family and trying to get a Plant Biology degree, I have been extremely busy. Getting ready for an exam, in a very competitive program, is not as easy as it used to be.
Timone 11-10-2007, 03:52 PM That's awesome, man. I just reached the 3,000 post mark last night.
And watching Mallett play makes me cringe.

don't hate b/c Ryan Mallett wouldn't even consider going to your scummy school
Timone 11-10-2007, 03:55 PM Dude, what in the hell happened to your alpacas? You go all in on Michigan?
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-10-2007, 03:56 PM Mallett is only a frosh, I'm not going to judge "what he will be" based on this season.

Funny how a bad year for Michigan, would be viewed at as an "overachieving" year for Michigan State...

Artermis 11-10-2007, 04:43 PM LMAO at aBudkow. They finally get their 6th win and he shows up.
Congrats. Dont talk shit about Mallett. He makes freshman mistakes, but he also makes some great players.
He is 3-0 when he starts and they game plan for him. He doesnt do so well when they go with Henne because the gameplan is set up for a senior QB.
Saying that, he led them back to within 2 late in the 4th.
Moodini31 11-10-2007, 04:44 PM I agree with bukdow for the first time in my life. So far Mallett has looked nowhere near average. But is it him or our stone age offense? Remember, we somehow managed to turn Tom Brady into a 6th round pick.

He's only a frosh...he was impressive in his start @ Penn State...he's going to be a major project this offseason...

No, Manningham led UM back to within two, despite Mallet.
MoTown 11-10-2007, 05:38 PM As stupid as bukdow is for making this thread, he is absolutely right. I have never seen a worse quarterback attend the University of Michigan. I don't want to hear that "he's just a freshman" crap. A special ed kid could have a higher football-IQ than him.
Timone 11-10-2007, 05:42 PM Screw Mallett! It's all about Juice right now.
Zip Goshboots 11-10-2007, 05:56 PM I'm OK with cogent analysis of Mallett. Especially considering that he will probably play the next three years with an actual coaching staff.
He shows trememndous potential. He will learn to feel the pressure as he goes on, and learn to toss the ball out of bounds. He may also get receivers who can make a catch or fight for a ball that isn't dropped into their jockstrap. He may also get receivers who won't drop a pass at a crucial time.
When you play a freshman QB, even this late, you do things to help him out (especially when Mike Hart is also injured).
Ever hear of a screen? The "tight end"? A reverse? An end around?
What do you do when your offensive line plays so horribly? When your running backs can't block?
What do you do when your defense gets it's ass handed to it? When they give up huge chunks of yardage? Can;t hold on third down? Can't make a a play to turn the game around (an interception or fumble returned for a TD, or generate a turnover in the other teams end of the field. And what do you do when they know how to use punting to their advantage to pin you deep in your end so many times?
And lemme axe you dis: How about special teams? Zolton Mesko has to be the worst punter in college football. His kicks are not high, nor are they long.
Has anyone EVER seen Michigan block a punt or a field goal?
Sometimes, too, it is OK to return kickoffs more than 16 yards and punts more than 3 yards. And guess what? It is LEGAL to return them for touchdowns occassionally (and not just against Indiana or Northworstern).
Lastly, though I am no expert, I believe that it IS OK to have your players motivated when the game starts, to have them fired up and ready to "kick some arse". That may be a tactic that could prove more beneficial than having to look at the game clock week in and week out and finding yourself down by ten or more points in the fourth quarter.
When you have a freshman QB, all other aspects of the TEAM need to play better than they usually do. They need to "step it up". You hope the freshman limits his mistakes, and you hope the rest of the team can hold up their end of the bargain while you wait for the freshman to make the ten or twelve (if that) good plays he is going to make, especially against a quality opponent.
Mario dropped a pass in the fourth that may have duplicated the 97 yarder. Greg Matthews flailed away like a bukdow on the long interception. Manningham spent the game pouting and yelling at Mallett (even the announcer said that Mallett may have been goaded into that last interception by Manningham's bullshit). Shawn Crable get's thirty yards of penalties on a short field, leading to a Wisconsin touchdown. There had to be thirty pairs of Wolverine defensive players underwear on the field after the game as they all forgot how to tackle, when they weren't just getting the hell out of the Badgers' way.
Mallett will be GREAT at UM. There isn;t a college coach in the counrty who wouldn't want to be able to coach the offensive talent UM has. The only coaching staff who doesn;t appreciate UM's offenseive potential is unfortunately housed in Fort Schembechler.
Not for long, though.

Are you serious, or is Mallet your new blue and yellow boyfriend? If it wasn`t for Manningham and the other dude who regularly beats up his girlfriend, UM, and Mallet, would have been beat like a drum today. The receivers made up for Mallet`s atrocious play.

Gee Joel, watching UM vs Wisconsin instead of doing yardwork? Why would such an MSU fan know so much about UM?

bukdow, why are you all of a sudden trashing Mallett? Is it because he was a top recruit?? A player that wouldn't even both with, much less consider attending Michigan State. Do you feel threatened by him??? One things for sure, I'd have to believe he will go 3-0 Vs. MSU for the remainder of his tenure at U of M...
What a clown, and I suppose Brian Hoyer is worlds better right? And that was a cute stab you took at Adrian Arrington too. Even TJ Williams and SirDaren Adams thought that was funny...

Zip Goshboots 11-10-2007, 08:14 PM bikdow may or may not be gay, but he gets alot of mileage out of his threads.
I say you should just stick to the argument at hand. It's ridiculous to trash Mallett. He has played very well so far. The team around him has not.
He probably didn't get many snaps in Spring and summer practice, as Henne had, until this season, proved pretty durable. That Henne has been injured this year is a comment on UM's offensive line. To expect a freshman to prosper with mediocre blocking AND an injured Hart is a tall order.
We'll have to wait, as usual for Michigan fans, for next year. I expect Mallett to do very well. I DO think he'll have to do it without Manningham, whose act is not only wearing thin with me, but I think Mario will go pro after this season.

Granted, the only extended time I have seen him play is against Wisconsin. That being said, the kid was HORRIBLE. He threw into triple coverage and was intercepted what, twice? He threw at Manningham`s, and the guy who regularly beats up his girlfriend, feet. Neither of those had to do with how many snaps he had, or had not, taken in the spring and summer. If you watched that game, you saw Manningham getting pretty annoyed with Mallet`s atrocious play.
The reason why this is pertinent is because this kid was heralded as the next coming by the blue and yellow bootblacks. If it wasn`t for two very good receivers, Mallet would look worse than that other fop over at ND.
And which is it wolvies? Is the UM O-line super-duper or as Zippy says, mediocre? Seems like you guys were crowing like a drunk parrot about UM`s O-line at the beginning of the season.
Timone 11-10-2007, 08:25 PM bukdow, I got your back man.
Zip Goshboots 11-10-2007, 08:36 PM Joel, unless you engage in intelligent, objective discussion, and not just hate filled anti Lloyd and hate filled "if you didnt go to Michigan you can't root for them" rhetoric, your opinion just isn't valid.
I do thank you for giving us these wonderful threads, though. Like I said, they're good for some mileage.
Now, as I've so cogently insisted, Mallett will be fine at Michigan. That does depend, of course, in part on how accurate the recruit rankings people are with THEIR assessments of his talent. If UM surrounds him with the type of talent and coaching they usually do, he will enjoy the average 9-3 season, he will beat MSU three out of four (if not four out of four like Henne), and get drafted in the 3rd to 6th round by an NFL team and then prosper.
And UM's offensive line is, in my opinion, not very good. If you watch the games, and see how much the UM QB is pressured, how much penetration D lines and blitzers get, you'd have to agree.
Also, many, many UM running plays get stuffed at or near the line of scrimmage. Mike Hart seems to get most of his yardage after contact. UM has NO screen play, reverses, or any "trickeration" in part because they cannot block anybody.

Zippy, if you are going to back peddle that much, do be careful, or you might fall and break your neck. Mallet was a highly touted recruit that the blue and yellow world was pissing themselves over. After seeing the kid play, he has a LONG way to go. Bad decisions, no pocket awareness and poor leadership abilities.

Make some improvements?! The kid looked AWFUL. As I have said, with all the fanfare and leg-humping from the boot-licks this kid came in with, he is nowhere near the QB he was projected to be.
MoTown 11-10-2007, 09:32 PM I'm glad you're writing in smaller words tonight, bucky, because I can understand most of what you're saying. When you use big words, us simple minded Michigan fans cannot understand you.

These words mean nothing coming from a Spartans fan...the fact that Michigan State hasn't beaten Michigan in 7 years, and the fact that they haven't been to a bowl game since 2003...I would think the LAST thing you should be criticizing right now is the play of your "big brother's" freshman Quarterback...

b-diddy 11-11-2007, 12:10 AM a 6'7", respectively mobile, freshmen with an absolute cannon with accuracy on the big ball? ill take it.
lets see, the two frosh stud qbs (mallett and clausen) are absolute scrubs OR some analysis have a little trouble with their expectations.
no, hes not ready this year. we aint talkin this year, joel. the only people who thought mallett should have started over henne were clowns (not on the level of a sparty clown, though).
what is the point of this thread? just crawl back into your hole, joel. your games are tired.

Timone 11-11-2007, 05:37 PM What I have a problem with is the 100,000 or so bandwagon jumpers. Those people who graduated from some community college but jump on the bandwagon and say Michigan is No. 1.

WTFchris 04-21-2011, 01:56 PM Alfred Williams (former all pro Bronco and radio host here) wants Denver to take him in the 2nd round. I really wonder how he'll do in the NFL. I haven't really seen him since his freshmen year at Michigan. I think he's worth a 2nd round pick though (just in general, not for Detroit of course). Phillip Rivers is widely known as a bit of a jerk (so is Cutler) but either would be a steal in the 2nd round.
Glenn 04-21-2011, 02:59 PM Mallett's not just a jerk, he's probably an alcoholic and from what I've read, really really dumb and immature.
