View Full Version : Say something nice about your rival
Glenn 11-06-2007, 08:28 AM Here's a nice, positive thread where we can set aside our differences and be complimentary your rival school (or schools)/teams/programs/coaches/fans, etc.
Sometimes, things get pretty heated in here and our teams go through very trying times, so it's nice to have a place that is a safe haven.
Let's hope that these positive affirmations can make even those of us that have had a rough time recently, feel better.
Caution: this thread is for uplifting, positive comments about a rival ONLY. Any post viewed as negative, overly sarcastic or snarky will be swatted.
Thanks in advance.
Glenn 11-06-2007, 08:50 AM I think MSU alum, Gregory Kelser, is a fine basketball analyst and he seems like a nice guy.
And although George Blaha is "the voice of MSU football", I find him delightful.
Zip Goshboots 11-06-2007, 08:57 AM I enjoyed the extreme sportsmanship displayed by the Spartan players and coaches in the aftermath of Mike Hart's absurdly rude comments.
I think they are to be commended for staying above the fray.
Artermis 11-06-2007, 08:58 AM I would rather bang a bitch from MSU than UM.

Great post! Now we're acting like the in-state brothers* that we truly are.
Zip, feel free to include some of your observations about Jim Tressel here, too.
*twins, born simultaneously
Zip Goshboots 11-06-2007, 09:00 AM Jim Tressel is God.
MoTown 11-06-2007, 09:00 AM Are we allowed to do the compliment sandwich?
First you say a compliment, followed by something you can improve on, then another compliment. Is that cool, Glenn?

Mo, this thread is fluid, so it will probably evolve, especially if we all work together and don't hurt each other's feelings.
Go ahead with the framework that you have explained here, but tread lightly and keep the feelings of others in mind.
MoTown 11-06-2007, 09:07 AM I'll keep my mouth shut for now.
Glenn 11-06-2007, 09:39 AM I would rather bang a bitch from MSU than UM.
It is commendable that you would be open to such partnership.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-06-2007, 09:59 AM John L. Smith was a good recruiter
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-06-2007, 09:59 AM Keith Nichol would've been a Spartan if JLS was the coach. Then you guys wouldn't have to go through another year of hell w/ Brian Hoyer...

JickBoy34 11-06-2007, 10:47 AM Mark Dantonio kinda looks like Davis Hasselhoff, and when I think of the Hass, I think of Pam. So basically watching MSU football makes me think of fucking Pam Anderson.
Artermis 11-06-2007, 10:51 AM Here is a great one.
I root for MSU BBall when they play Kentucky. I love watching these assholes down here in Kentucky cry when they get beat.
Artermis 11-06-2007, 10:52 AM BTW Kentucky is not a rival school....so I can talk shit about them.
Artermis 11-06-2007, 10:53 AM MSU throws better parties than UM.
MSU is the 2nd best school in Division I in the state.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-06-2007, 12:00 PM Michigan State has a good football team. If I were a voter in the Harris Polls, I'd give them a vote so they can be under the "Also Receiving Votes" portion of the standings....
Timone 11-06-2007, 12:19 PM I thought it was funny when that MSU guy tripped Chad Henne.

Tahoe 11-06-2007, 12:40 PM Its a good thing UofM football talent is prolly 3 times MSU's, cuz we didn't play a very inspired ball. Til we scored 2 TDs in the final couple of minutes.

Pretend you are picking up a hot chick for a date and her father is a MSU fan and you want to say something to impress him.
Enough with the backhanded compliments.
Keep it upbeat!
Tahoe 11-06-2007, 12:43 PM If their BBall team is going to lose a game to DivII(?) at least they lost a game to another Michigan school. Thanks for that.

Tahoe 11-06-2007, 12:53 PM Without MSU East Lansing wouldn't have as many people.
Artermis 11-06-2007, 12:55 PM Morton Anderson could suck his own dick. At least that is what my friend's dad said, who was his roommate in college.
MSU has nice facilities.

I never knew that.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-06-2007, 12:55 PM Without MSU, San Jose State would be the best college team w/ a Spartans mascot
Glenn 11-06-2007, 12:56 PM Charlie Weis used to be a lot fatter, he's done a nice job getting that under control.
Notre Dame football has great tradition.

Zip Goshboots 11-06-2007, 01:54 PM I see alot of maturity in MSU football. Even the one penalty when the guy hit Matthews out of bounds for an extra 15 yards, I could read his lips afterwards, and he said, "I did it because we want the challenge of stopping you on a shorter defensive field"
Zip Goshboots 11-06-2007, 01:57 PM Mike Hart called Michigan State "Little brother". I think that shows alot of love for them.
