View Full Version : Yup, this happened too (Zumaya injured again) Hermy 11-01-2007, 02:42 PM Zoom out until mid 08. DrRay11 11-01-2007, 02:54 PM fuck, surgery again, or what? Wizzle 11-01-2007, 03:04 PM Zumaya to miss first part of 2008 season after shoulder surgery by Danny Knobler Thursday November 01, 2007, 2:38 PM DETROIT -- Joel Zumaya will miss the first part of the 2008 season recovering from right shoulder surgery. Zumaya was moving personal items after the wildfires that affected areas near his San Diego home, and suffered an injury that required AC joint reconstruction. The surgery was performed Wednesday, and was announced by the Tigers today. The Tigers said that Zumaya will have to rest his shoulder for the next six weeks, and will begin a throwing program in approximately four months. That would be during spring training, and the Tigers say they're hopeful Zumaya would be ready to pitch sometime during the 2008 season. Zumaya missed much of the 2007 season with a right finger problem that required surgery. The Tigers were counting on Zumaya, either as a setup man for Todd Jones, or possibly as a closer if Jones were to leave as a free agent. sucks big time DrRay11 11-01-2007, 03:07 PM Wow, that's terrible news. WTFchris 11-01-2007, 03:24 PM Could be good news since it might force DD to add to the bullpen. Glenn 11-01-2007, 03:28 PM Awful news for Todd Jones haters. DrRay11 11-01-2007, 03:31 PM Awful news because I doubt Zoom will ever be his former self, first after the finger injury and especially now. Glenn 11-01-2007, 03:31 PM I agree with e-ray. Tahoe 11-01-2007, 03:37 PM me deuce H1Man 11-01-2007, 03:58 PM Another reason why the Renteria trade sucks. D's Nuts 11-01-2007, 04:22 PM Can you say "ENTER SANDMAN"?????? Fool 11-01-2007, 04:35 PM ^Nice. Another reason why the Renteria trade sucks. Or is good. MoTown 11-01-2007, 04:50 PM Another reason why the Renteria trade sucks. I'm not really sure I follow you... WTFchris 11-01-2007, 04:53 PM I'm not really sure I follow you... I assume he means money spent there will not be available for a closer. MoTown 11-01-2007, 04:55 PM Fair enough... but I think the Tigers are willing to spend. So I doubt that's an issue. Zekyl 11-01-2007, 04:55 PM And that we traded away a pitching prospect? Then again, Jair wasn't a bullpen guy anyway, but any minor league starter can be moved to the major league bullpen, we've done it many times. WTFchris 11-01-2007, 04:57 PM What is the FA closer market? I know a couple of the big names this past trade deadline were in their final year. D's Nuts 11-01-2007, 05:03 PM Mariano Rivera is out there. "OFF TO NEVER NEVER LAND!!!!!!!" Wilfredo Ledezma 11-01-2007, 10:02 PM Francisco Cordero...make the call DD Wilfredo Ledezma 11-01-2007, 10:03 PM Francisco Cordero and Scott Linebrink combined would cost less than than just Mo Rivera... I'd rather get the 2 for one special and bring back Jonesy as well... WTFchris 11-02-2007, 12:02 PM Wasn't Lidge a FA too this year? Wilfredo Ledezma 11-02-2007, 02:16 PM Wasn't Lidge a FA too this year? Na...the best relievers that are FA's are Mariano Rivera, Octavio Dotel, Eric Gagne, Francisco Cordero, Dave Riske, Al Reyes, Luis Vizcaino, Scott Linebrink, Todd Jones... Trevor Hoffman has a team option likely to be exercised Joe Borowski has a team option, which I would suspect will be exercised despite his 70+ ERA... Lidge could be traid bait...so could Brian Fuentes from Colorado now that Corpas will be the closer WTFchris 11-03-2007, 11:59 AM I don't know a couple of those names, but every one is probably better than Jones (except Gagne sucked balls after he got traded). Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 01:15 PM It wouldn't shock me at all if on Opening Day Todd Jones is trying to close out a 3-2 lead... darkobetterthanmelo 11-05-2007, 01:51 PM I'd get Rivera just for his entrance song. WTFchris 11-08-2007, 01:44 PM Wasn't Lidge a FA too this year? Lidge traded to Philly anyway: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-phillies-astrostrade&prov=ap&type=lgns |
