View Full Version : Let me enlighten you
bukdow 10-30-2007, 10:44 PM For those of you who intend on voting republican, especially Rudy Giuliani, I suggest you make yourselves familiar with The Project for the New American Century and especially Norman Podhoretz, as he would be who Rudy would receive most of his foreign affairs advice.
Here is an article regarding fear, Iran, the neo-cons and war (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/29/op...th&oref=slogin). I suggest you read it and start taking seriously the ramifications of overly macho, dunderheaded stupidity that passes for "patriotism" these days.
Timone 10-31-2007, 05:04 AM Holy shit, bukdow posted outside of the NCAA forum!
Big Swami 10-31-2007, 09:18 AM That's it, fun's over. Everyone vacate, I'll delouse.
Uncle Mxy 10-31-2007, 10:40 AM The NYTimes link is broken. Links on this bulletin board (and many others) that are too long get abbreviated with "..." as they are displayed, so you don't have some really long link break the formatting. If you click on the link, you get to it just fine. If you try and cut and paste the link as you see it, you will cut and paste broken links that no one can get to. What you probably wanted was:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/29/opinion/29krugman.html
It looks about the same, but when you click it, you get to the right place.

Timone 10-31-2007, 01:17 PM I think we all should know by now why bukdow is smarter than us.
bukdow 11-01-2007, 10:17 AM If you think reading the New York Times is impressive you had better broaden your cultural/intellectual horizons. However, what does point to the fact that I am at least more intellectually curious than you people is the fact that I have a subscription to both Harper`s and Smithsonian, and actually read them.
Harper`s is definitely for the intellectual elite. Smithsonian is kind of like NPR and PBS wrapped up into a magazine.

Very typical answer from the far too prevalent weak-minded neo-American. The next time you want to blame somebody for the downfall of America, you can skip over the terrorists, the Arabs, gays, etc. and just look in the mirror. It is the lazy-minded, consumption addicted, myopic "citizens" like yourself that are entirely to blame.
Can you at least articulate why you are voting for Giulianni?

Your attempts at side stepping my questions with puerile personal attacks just supports the notion that you are utterly clueless. The fact is you can`t articulate why you are voting for Giulianni, except that he is "America`s mayor" and you still get a John Wayne-sized lump in your throat when you think of "9/11", you have no fucking idea who Norman Podhoretz is nor what the PNAC is. I'm bored with talk of neocons. Their big ideas have blown up in the face of the American people. Either people will recognize that and act accordingly, or they don't. If they don't, bringing up The New American Century for yet another time won't be productive. The neocons bluster to cover their failure goes "our foreign policy isn't working because we're not doing enough of it", which xlates simply to "I'd like a pony.".
I am somewhat amused by the mention of the intellectual elite, as they're the ones who have proven to be the most compromised by neocon spewage. I'm just glad that I'm a functional illiterate, so I don't have to be allied with such dunderheads.

I do admit that the new republican party is not the party I like, it is better than this group:
Eliot Splitzer, Senator Blanco (D-Louisiana) Nancy Pelosi,
Here are some more:
Harry Reid, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Blanche Lincoln
Richard Durbin Kent Conrad Bob Menendez
Charles Schumer Christopher Dodd Barbara Mikulski
Patty Murray Byron Dorgan Bill Nelson
Daniel Akaka, Dianne Feinstein, Barack Obama
Max Baucus Tom Harkin Jack Reed
Joseph Biden Daniel Inouye Jay Rockefeller
Barbara Boxer Edward M. Kennedy Ken Salazar
Sherrod Brown John Kerry Bernie Sanders
Robert Byrd Amy Klobuchar Debbie Stabenow
Benjamin Cardin Mary Landrieu Jon Tester
Tom Carper Frank Lautenberg Jim Webb
Bob Casey Patrick Leahy Sheldon Whitehouse
Carl Levin Ron Wyden
that list comes from here:

Eliot Splitzer is the NY governor who is handing out Driver Licenses to illegals, I have a problem with that. The rest are attached to Harry Reid, that devious one who tried to smear Rush Limbaugh. By pressuring the Clearwater channel corporation, you remember don’t you?

Possible potential Mxy? 2008 is going to a lose-lose for everybody because no candidate is better than mediocre.
Tahoe 03-21-2008, 10:21 PM Had to bump this.
One of the best threads ever.
Thank you.
DennyMcLain 03-25-2008, 03:35 PM It's a shitty day at work... until I read this:
If you think reading the New York Times is impressive you had better broaden your cultural/intellectual horizons. However, what does point to the fact that I am at least more intellectually curious than you people is the fact that I have a subscription to both Harper`s and Smithsonian, and actually read them.
Pure comedy.
DennyMcLain 03-25-2008, 03:43 PM Do you know who I am? I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal. People know me. I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany. I have a subscription to both Harper`s and Smithsonian, and actually read them
Once again, Denny McLain LOL.

Isn't it. Pure comedy.
The guy's for real. I thought he was just fucking around, but nope.

That's actually the funniest thing in this thread.
Tahoe 03-25-2008, 04:04 PM I can't place where i heard that. It seems like a Bill Murray line from somewhere...part of it.
Tahoe 03-25-2008, 04:06 PM Anchorman
Black Dynamite 03-25-2008, 04:49 PM Budkow made some decent points. If he wasn't so arrogantly gargantuan(always great word) ego headed in the process, this thread would have had some decent merit. Unfortunately he tried to shit on everyone as underbelly sub human idiots not worthy of his self proclaimed high level intellect.
Black Dynamite 03-25-2008, 04:50 PM The Smithsonian Ron Burgundy correlation thing didn't help either.
Timone 04-01-2008, 10:01 PM Bump! ;)
BubblesTheLion 04-04-2008, 10:51 PM After reading this thread, it is evident that Bukdow is superior to most of the people on this forum, and my favorite poster here.
If not for the whole Michigan State aspect, I would make love to him after spooning in a bubble bath.
That's the closest I've ever come to getting laid.
Glenn 12-03-2008, 12:42 PM it's time for this again

I love this way more than I should.
Glenn 01-29-2009, 01:40 PM I think geerussell's role in this thread has been vastly underappreciated, especially #34.
That's the stuff that legends are made of, right there.
Timone 01-29-2009, 01:42 PM Arguably one of the most important posts in WTF history, that #34.
