Silver Lining in the cloud that is bringing more rain than "Pacman".......

Being a rookie Stuckey wasn't used to playing 82 games and this should hopefully help him later in the year when our 32 and 33 year old guys are dog tired. When Stuckey comes back in December he'll need to get into game shape which will take about 2 or 3 weeks which means in the middle of January we'll have a fully healthy Stuckey which will be great because at that point Chaunce and Rip should both be averaging about 36 minutes apiece and Stuckey will be fresh as opposed to other rookies who are starting to fade.

WOW that was a lot of incoherent rambling, I hope it made sense.

Good news for Aaron Afflalo I guess

Upon looking at that pic again, I would like to point out that Rip's elbow never touched turtle-bitches head. His cranial force field merely felt the elbow nearing which resulted in a head-snap flop costing Rip a flagrant. He got up for the 8th time and while sneering at Rip heard 'pussy', and after the game proceeded to cry in his Hummer saying 'You dont know what its like man... to be a lil bitch...'

Afflalo's going to get some run early. I'd rather see the time go to him than Murray.......

Oh god, I didn't even think about Murray getting extra playing time now! Murray and Hunter!

This figures, the young Kids were going to be used and now two of them have had early set-backs. Amir is playing from behind because of his injury and Stuckey is hurt and can't be used so Flip has excuses not to use these guys if he doesn't feel comfortable. Or if the team gets off to a great start Flip might not give up the minutes they need because he doesn't want to screw with the rotation.

Stuckey breaks wrist in preseason win over Wizards per MLive

Team officials said the earliest a timetable for Stuckey's return won't be determined until after he meets with doctors today. However, the break appears to have occurred in three different places in the hand, which would require more than a month to completely heal.

Stuckey's broken hand...

Yeah, this is exactly what the Pistons didn't want or need: prized rookie Rodney Stuckey, playing his best game so far, broke his left hand during tonight's game against the Wizards.

It was a really innocent-looking play in the third quarter. Stuckey was rolling around a screen, and bumped into a Wizards defender with his left hand. Which happens a 100 times in a game. But tonight, luck wasn't on Stuckey's side. His hand hit the wrong way, and he instantly contorted in pain. He ran to the Pistons bench, his left hand held in that limp way recognizable to anybody who has broken their hand before. Ouch.

Pistons did xrays, which alone was a bad sign, and the bad news was true. The hand is broken. No word on what the treatment will be or how long he will be out. The hand was in a temporary cast after the game, and Stuckey seemeed in relatively good spirits. Toughest thing? Trying to figure out how to get dressed with one hand. We've all been there. We'll know tomorrow when he meets with the Pistons medical staff for another examination.

Rookie guard expected to miss six weeks after surgery

Associated Press
Updated: October 25, 2007, 2:01 PM ET

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey had surgery on his broken left hand Thursday and is expected to be out for about six weeks.

The rookie from Eastern Washington injured his hand in Detroit's final exhibition game Wednesday night. He averaged 12.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals in eight games.

Stuckey was expected to start the season next week at Miami playing a key role, primarily backing up point guard Chauncey Billups.

"This is where having Lindsey Hunter comes into play," Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said.

Hunter, who made his NBA debut with the Pistons in 1993, was expected to be a seldom-used reserve this season.

Stuckey was injured on a harmless-looking play in the third quarter of Detroit's 104-85 win over the Washington Wizards. He was fighting through a screen and got his fingers caught in a jersey.

"Obviously, I'm disappointed," he said. "I've never broken anything before, and now I'm going to have to sit out."

Stuckey update
Flip Saunders told us a few minutes ago that he thought rookie Rodney Stuckey's recovery from hand surgery was two weeks ahead of schedule and he hopes he can start practicing sometime next week when the Pistons are on the West Coast. The original timeline had Stuckey back on Dec. 7. Looks like, if all goes well, he could be back for the Nov. 23 game against Philly. The key phrase is, if all goes well. Because you can bet the Pistons are going to be extra cautious with Stuckey.

Stuckey takes it slow
Rookie guard says he won't play until his fractured left hand is completely healed.

Joanne C. Gerstner / The Detroit News

AUBURN HILLS -- Pistons rookie guard Rodney Stuckey says he's not trying to rush back from the injury to his left hand.

Stuckey was told Wednesday he'd have to wait at least another week to earn medical clearance, because his non-shooting hand is not fully healed from fractures and resulting surgery.

He will be checked Dec. 6 to see if he's ready to play. Meanwhile, Stuckey continues to play the role of a good patient and continues his course of rehabilitation.

"There's no reason for me to rush back," Stuckey said after Thursday's practice. "This is all about me making my hand get better, and when I come back, I want to be 100 percent. I don't want to be 98 percent or still having pain in my hand."

Stuckey said he's pain-free in his left hand. He wears a small, removable brace on and off the court, protecting his hand from any blows or awkward movements.

He's also taking extra calcium, helping support the fusing bone. Stuckey has been working out during practice, and can shoot and make moves with few limitations.

What makes Stuckey so patient after more than six weeks?

"I'm looking for the future, not the short term," Stuckey said. "I've been patient, my time's going to come. My team's doing good, there's no reason to rush back."

Glenn - I think he was re-evaluated on Wednesday. They told him it would be another week. He seems pretty positive about the whole situation though. He's very mature for a rookie.*

Stuckey's hand still not ready

December 8, 2007
BY KRISTA JAHNKE
FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER

For the past few weeks, Pistons coach Flip Saunders has responded to each question about injured point guard Rodney Stuckey the same way -- "two weeks."

As in, it'll be two more weeks until Stuckey can begin full-contact practice. "I tell ya, every time they talk to me, it's 'two weeks,' " Saunders said Friday.

Stuckey met with doctors again Thursday, who told him again that they need to see him in two weeks before they can clear him. The next checkup is Dec. 20. As for the new time frame to look for him on the court during a game? Try 2008.

Stuckey said "for a minute" he thought about how much he'd love to get onto the court, but quickly turned back to his high-spirited, remarkably optimistic self.

"It's all about my future," he said. "It's not about right now. I can come back right now and play, but it's my future. If I reinjure my hand, I could shatter my whole hand and be out for the rest of the year. I don't really want that. It's about making my hand heal the right way. As long as we have Flip Murray, I feel pretty good about things."

The team's concern is that if he comes back too soon, he could reinjure the hand if he takes a direct hit on it. With only one broken bone, that kind of contact is easier to avoid, but since Stuckey suffered three broken metacarpal bones, one hit could do major damage.

As Stuckey said, if that happened, he could shatter the still-healing bones, resulting in a season-ending bone graft.

The team is waiting for Stuckey's bones to reach 50% calcification. Strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander said Stuckey was getting close.

"They don't want to take any chances of anything happening," Saunders said. "They want that thing to be (strong). It's not just one bone broken; there are three of them. So when you have three bones, they're just making sure there's no chance for that thing to get hit, get slapped or anything."

Saunders said he had no worries about Stuckey's conditioning level as he waited his rookie debut. He's running and shooting every day, and "he should never be out of condition. He's (21). He won't be out of condition."

as much as i want to see the kid out there, i much prefer the overly cautious approach. it would be a tragedy to see him run into further complications or- god forbid- a major injury where he shatters those bones.

i want him 100% before he comes back. i can wait another couple of weeks.
