Well, the Golden Goophers come into town, and I've been waiting all year long for this chance to write Golden Goophers in an OGT.
Michigan should rest Hart and Henne, and throw the playbook at Mallett. Take the cuffs off and let the kid roll.

Who has a better record? Appy State or North Dakota State?

you would think atleast this year michigan would know better than to look past an opponent. all i hear about is how we're going to wrest the guns. im all for maximizing our chances vs OSU, but if we somehow lose to minny it will be far more unforgivable than losing to ASU.

If Michigan's D shows up...

Look forward to reading about all the hand wringing all week. I thought all the ajeda prior to Purdon't was a riot. Fucking North Dakota State...Good grief! I'm with Zip though. Why you'd even let Hart dress for this ritual sacrifice is beyond, beyond. I like the thought of getting Mallet some reps and letting Chad Henry heal. Mallet plays they only win by 21.

I think they want Hart to play because Henne is not going to play.

BTW Hart was medically cleared to play against Illinois, but they wanted to give him that extra week.

Zip Goshboots
10-24-2007, 01:37 PM
Good move, to save him for Minnesota. I say give him 40-50 carries. He's probably too well rested, in Lloyd's opinion (ILO).

Glenn
10-24-2007, 01:40 PM
If Michigan's defense shows up I'll take UM 28-10.

If Michigan's defense doesn't show up, I'll go with 72-14, Minnesota.

What about 28-24, Glenn?

I'll go 34-14.

What about 28-24, Glenn?

I'll go 34-14.

34-14 has a nice ring to it. None of my business but if they can beat Illinois w/o Hart and Henne in the cornfield I say heal the two of them up another week and swim with the long tall one. Brown & Minor can deliver the mail just fine. Youi guys will be pissed if either is hurt against these stiffs. Of course with Hart in contention for the Hypeman, this has to be a consideration so there's that. Two games in a row missed with injury wouldn't help the cause. I just wouldn't risk it.

Wilfredo Ledezma

If Henne plays...34-14...

If Mallett plays...27-14

embarassing either way...Florida Atlantic beat the Gophers this year, yet I'd say its still safe to say that it will be a one score game at halftime...

I doubt Hart plays since theres no need to risk anything in this one, I was impressed w/ Carlos Brown, and I think he didn't get much credit for his excellent job filling in for Hart...

This one will be a bore

I loved that '03 game...that was a Friday night and I can distinctly remember Asad Abdul-Khaliq running right up the gut for a 50+ yard TD...

god that Minnesota team could run w/ Barber, Maroney, Khaliq and Tapeh...thank god they aren't good anymore

WTFMICH........No Transcontinental back to Navarre? I think that was the play that started the whole comeback plus it was the first "cool" trick play I've ever seen Lloyd run.

b-diddy
10-27-2007, 03:43 PM
neither is starting. but are they dressed and available?

imo, appy state is a better team than minny, and our defense is a lot better than at the start of the year, but i just hate to think of michigan sleeping on a team. any team.

that drive doesnt worry me at all. they moved the ball more because of individual mental lapses on our d. our system is sound. i dont think we give up too many more points.

What the FUCK does that mean? Minnesota lost to North Dakota State, and I think Bowling Green, and they absolutely suck.

I'm very sure UM will win this game, but you gotta have these Goophers down by 17 at this point.

mallet clearly isnt ready, but he's had a few flashes of brilliance with some gorgeous passes. i definitly wont be dreading big tex taking over as a true sophomore next year.

Artermis
10-27-2007, 07:21 PM
Mallett clearly is not ready. Henne had an advantage when he took over from Matty G, but there being somewhat of a QB competition in the preseason. There was none this year.

I do think that Mallett has some of the best touch on a long ball I have seen. He is 6'7" he needs to pick better lanes to throw the ball. He shouldnt be averaging 2+ bat downs a game.

Mike Hart would have run for 300 yards in this game.

Manningham finally seems to get it and it shows. This UM teams beats OSU by 10+ points if everyone is healthy.

Zip Goshboots
10-27-2007, 07:24 PM
Someone does need to coach mallett about hanging onto the ball though. His turnovers lead to all the Minny points. Not really a close, or good, game.

b-diddy
10-27-2007, 07:31 PM
yea, thats a strange one. his he careless with the ball or clumsy? hopefully, its the former. but i would assume most 6'7" 18 yr olds probably cant even walk and chew gum at the same time. he could still be growing into his body.

and it is infuriating watching him get passes knocked down so often. its like, how is that even possible? i'll be interested to see if the coaches are willing to fuck with his mechanics, because imo he has beatiful touch on the ball, so would you risk hurting that just to avoid a few batted balls?

MoTown
10-27-2007, 09:56 PM
I find it funny that Mallet can't throw a pass less than 10 yards to save his life, but his deep ball is beautiful.

Zip Goshboots
10-27-2007, 10:10 PM
That's touch, Motwon. I'm not so sure the UM staff is really that capable of coaching that stuff, plus Mallett is one year removed from high school. UM has won three games with him starting and playing the entire game, and he will be just fine.

b-diddy
10-27-2007, 10:18 PM
i have full confidence in the michigan staff to improve big tex. i bet there are more nfl qbs from UM than any other school right now.

I think the problem with the ball getting batted down is he doesnt try to look for a throwing lane and just thinks he can throw through a DL coming in. He also drops his arm. It reminds me of John Navarre and all the balls he got batted down, but Henne gets balls batted down too.
