We thought it might be a good idea to take an in-depth look at a couple of teams every day leading up to the start of the regular season.

Discussion topics can include, but are not limited to: roster makeup, offseason acqusitions/losses, likely rotation, playoff chances, strengths/weaknesses, coaching, best players, bench strength, team needs, cap room/available exceptions, etc.

First up is the Cleveland Cavaliers

they are a lot worse than last year, unless they get Varejao and Pavlovic back.

That said Boobie Gibson isn't sneaking up on anybody anymore either. They're making him actually play basketball this year and he's struggling at it. he didn't look like he belonged on the same floor as Chauncey Billups last night.

Not a top 4 team in the east anymore.

Hughes is going to choke all season long with boobie being inconsistent. They made the most insignificant signings like Devin Brown and the loss of Anderson fucking varajejo will hurt them.

Z and Gooden are a bunch of punks while Marshall can not hit a 3 to save his life.

fuck this team. The only player i would like to see score around 20 against us is Shannon Brown

and lebron

I think this team is garbage, but of course, I thought that last year, too.

Mike Brown doesn't seem like he knows what he is doing.

I'm pretty sure they'll get "Andy" signed, but wouldn't be surprised at all if they aren't actually hoping that Pavlovic takes off for Europe.

I like Big Z's game, and he's a rarity in today's NBA. If he goes down with a significant injury, it's lottery time, IMO.

I'd like to say that their bench sucks balls, but that's hard to prove after what we saw last night. I think that was an abberation, however.

I have them pegged for #4 in the Central in any case.

As long as LeBron can't shoot, attacks the basket, and is the golden boy of the NBA sky's the limit for this team. They are garbage and boring as fuck to watch though.

They remind me of a young team too stupid to realize they don't belong in the upper tier of the NBA. Lebron is good enough to take over games, but the rest of his squad is suspect. Worst NBA Finals team in years.

LeBron apparently "hurt his shoulder" last night.

The docs are recommending that Varejao and Pavlovic be re-signed and LJ's shoulder should be just fine.

I called it before it even started, that the CLE-SA finals would be worse than NJ-SA.

At least NJ was fun to watch at times when they had Kidd-Jefferson-Martin.

Cleveland has LBJ and no one. Ilgauskas is a solid C, I'd love to have him starting for us right now, but he doesn't fit the way they want to play at all and, therefore, gets under utilized.
Verejao fits them perfectly, even if he is a piece of shit, so resigning him would really help them out.
Gibson really got a freebie last season when no one really knew anything about him. This year he's pretty much screwed. Everyone knows exactly how to stop him now. Until he starts to develop the rest of his game, he's not bringing much to the table.
Hughes has the ability to be pretty good but never seems to live up to it for the Cavs. Getting a solid season out of him could really help this team out.

I hate this team so much that it's starting to make me hate the Indians too. They really are the most startlingly lame team in the East, and that's really saying something. I dip my balls in Cleveland.

Pavlovic ends holdout, agrees to three-year deal with Cavs
By Chad Ford

Updated: October 30, 2007, 4:50 PM ET

The Cleveland Cavaliers and restricted free agent Sasha Pavlovic have agreed to a three-year deal, Pavlovic's agent Marc Cornstein told ESPN.com.

Cornstein refused to give the numbers on the contract.

"Sasha is very excited to be returning to the Cavs," Cornstein said. "I believe he can help the Cavs build on the success they had last year."

The two sides had been at a standstill for much of the summer. Cornstein said that there was little movement until the last few days when Cleveland began to put a more serious offer on the table.

"Cleveland made great strides in the last few days to show how much they truely value Sasha and to ensure that we closed on this deal for the start of the season," Cornstein said.

When will he return to the Cavs?

Pavlovic is in Serbia at the moment and is preparing to return to the United States. He'll likely return to Cleveland on Wednesday but it's unlikely he'll play.

When his contract gets done, Cornstein said Pavlovic is ready to play.

"He's been working out twice a day with a personal coach. He'll be in excellent condition. Once everything is official he'll be ready to go."

The Cavs' other restricted free agent holdout, Anderson Varejao, remains unsigned with sources close to the negotiations claiming that the two sides are still far apart with little movement over the last week.

He's not a difference maker anyway, whoopty doo. I would say, in the words of Wilfredo, he's garbage.

Unlike Larry Hughes though he can make a jumper, so I'll give that to his credit. But hell, Air Bud can put the ball in the hoop more than Larry Hughes.
