Anyone else getting this?

I can't think of a better deal for a video game system. For those of you who are unaware, the Orange Box is a compilation of video games that include:

Half Life 2
Half Life 2: Episode One
Half Life 2: Episode Two
Portal
Team Fortress 2

It still sells for the price of a regular video game.

I will be getting it from gamefly, no doubt.

Just picked it up. Decent game. Never played Half Life before though. I kinda would like to see my hands actually hold the objects in the game than it look like telekinesis is moving them. My only complaint besides that is the slow in the story before you finally get a weapon. Slowest start i've played through in awhile.

I think that's what makes Half-Life one of the best, if not the best, FPS video game series out there. Half-life isn't just the "grab weapon, shoot everyone, go to next room" type of game. You have to think as well as shoot, and the storyline is better than most.

Its ok as a story. I'm not blown away. Not yet anyways. Its a damn solid game so far, but i personally would play COD4 and resistance over it at the moment if it came to that. With that said, it was a good purchase for me and i enjoy the game overall. It has a very good overall quality as a game with everything thats involved as far as all the episodes, portal, and Team Fortress, which is cool.

My roommate and his girlfriend have been addicted to Portal lately. Every time I get home from class, one of them is sitting in his room playing it.

From what I've seen, Portal is half-life minus the shooting. You don't actually kill anything, you just try to escape, its basically a big puzzle game. Am I wrong in this assessment? I'm just guessing from the 5-10 minutes I've seen the roommate play.

That's pretty close - you use the portal gun to kill things, or make them kill themselves.

It's a short game, but it was fucking awesome. Funny as hell, as well.

So what is this?

I'm so glad you asked.

It's actually a really cool compilation of 5 video games into the price of one. First you have Half-Life 2, which was one of my favorite games of all time. It's older, but they revamped the graphics to make it better. Second is Half-Life 2: Episode 1. Instead of making a Half-Life 3 and releasing it in 5 years, they're making 3 episodes so they can release a little bit at a time. Ingenious if you ask me. Thirdly, they have Half-Life 2: Episode 2, which is brand new for everyone. Great game, beautiful scenery.
Next is my fovorite game of them all: Portal. It is an ingenious design for a puzzle game complete with great strategy mixed with some intense humor. Amazing game.
Finally is Team Fortress 2, which is a great X-Box Live game, fun for the whole family.

The best part is that it sells for the price of one game!

Motown I have to apologize. I liked the Orange box somewhat, but I sold mines after about a week because the mission felt weirdly repetitive after awhile. If i muster up enough patience i'll try it again on another day.

Which game were you playing?

Half-Life 2, episodes 1 or 2?

Portal?

Portal team fortress and Half Life 1. I have to play it in order of course. But again im not being severely negative. At the time i wanted a game with a lil' more action going on and wasn't so epic, so i traded it in and grabbed Stranglehold. Which was fairly cheesy entertainment. Again i'll try orange box out again someday when i feel more patient in my gaming mood.

Portal is mainly just a puzzle game, so if you're in the mood to shoot something, that's not the game to pick up. It has some great humor in it and is a very creative game (if I could have any gun in my everyday life from any game, the portal gun would be it), and you could probably beat the game in 2 or 3 hours if you put your mind to it.

Half-Life is a game that I just loved the story. If you get involved with the story, it's hard to put down.

That said, I can understand how you have to be in the mood for it.
