I like how the RB thread (good work Artermis) is going so I thought it would be interesting to get some opinions. Right now, who the best QB playing?

View Full Version : Who is the best QB in the Big Ten? Balkan 10-09-2007, 06:54 PM I like how the RB thread (good work Artermis) is going so I thought it would be interesting to get some opinions. Right now, who the best QB playing? Zip Goshboots 10-09-2007, 07:09 PM Tom Brady, by far. HipDigIt 10-09-2007, 07:23 PM I like how the RB thread (good work Artermis) is going so I thought it would be interesting to get some opinions. Right now, who the best QB playing? Ryan Mallett...glug, glug, glug...... Zip Goshboots 10-09-2007, 07:28 PM Hip, Mallett is the best back up quarterback in the Big 10. New thread? Artermis 10-09-2007, 07:55 PM Juice Williams or the QB at OSU would be the top 2 right now. They got their teams firing on all cylinders. The biggest problem facing Chad is he has no chemistry with his WRs (well I shouldnt say all of them). If we do a WR thread, I will post more stuff there about UM WRs. Timone 10-09-2007, 08:28 PM Mike Hart. Seriously, Todd Boeckman. b-diddy 10-09-2007, 10:08 PM speed is overrated at the qb position. Zip Goshboots 10-09-2007, 10:11 PM I think throwing ability is over rated for QB's as well. So is leadership. Oh, and eyesight is so over rated it isn't even funny. Timone 10-09-2007, 10:23 PM The ability to lead a team with under 2 minutes to go in the game is the most overrated of 'em all. Balkan 10-09-2007, 11:12 PM and I thought all the UM fans would be claiming Henne and Mallet as 1 & 2 top QBs. I've underestimated the humility of the UM fans. Timone 10-09-2007, 11:45 PM Oh! I forgot about Chad and Ryan. Thanks for reminding me Balkan. Glenn 10-10-2007, 05:42 AM Bob Griese Wilfredo Ledezma 10-10-2007, 02:59 PM from an NFL standpoint, probably Chad Henne...and all biased aside, Chad is a first day pick this April... Juice Williams is probably the most athletic QB, but he's by no means an NFL QB... Morelli is the worst IMO, he's been awful his entire career at Penn St Haven't seen enough of Boeckman, Christensen, and Painter only puts up numbers Vs. the cupcakes... Kellen Lewis is pretty athletic too CJ Bacher sucks...but he's better than Brian Hoyer Artermis 10-10-2007, 07:32 PM Well if we are going by NFL standpoint than I dont think Mike Hart is the best back in the Big Ten. bukdow 10-10-2007, 08:38 PM from an NFL standpoint, probably Chad Henne...and all biased aside, Chad is a first day pick this April... Don`t forget, you were miserably wrong in our last bet. I was correct on every statement I made, whereas you were wrong on every staement you made. Don`t forget it, Willy. Ok, but tell me, how do you figure Henne isn't a 1st day draft pick??? Almost all Mock Drafts have him going in the 1st round (I think he will be a 2nd round pick) and if your going to base his draft stock on season success than your very mistaken. Chad has an outstanding arm, and given that Brian Brohm, Andre' Woodson, Colt Brennan and possibly Matt Ryan are all locks for the 1st round, I have to believe Chad will go in Rd. 3 at the VERY latest... Who else do you forsee being taken ahead of Chad?? Certainly not Erik Ainge, Morelli, Sammy Keller or John David Booty... Your obviously judging draft status based on NCAA success rather than individual strengths, and what your record was as a college starter and who you lost too means NOTHING in a combine workout... Chad is easily a 1st Day Pick... don't hate b/c Brian Hoyer won't even sniff the NFL... Artermis 10-11-2007, 06:23 AM Budkow Henne will get drafted and more than likely on the 1st day. He has a top 5 arm among QBs coming out. Wilfredo Ledezma 10-11-2007, 09:34 AM Well if we are going by NFL standpoint than I dont think Mike Hart is the best back in the Big Ten. Agreed, although Hart will likely be taken in the 2nd or 3rd round, the one witht he most NFL upside is probably PJ Hill Artermis 10-11-2007, 10:10 AM I dont see him going before the 3rd, unless miracle of miracle he runs a sub 4.5 at the combine or his on campus tryout. Speed matters way more in the NFL nowadays. Emmit Smith would have barely been drafted now if he came out. Zip Goshboots 10-11-2007, 10:14 AM Emmitt "came out"? No wonder he won Dancing With The Stars. I should have seen this one coming. bukdow 10-11-2007, 10:52 AM Budkow Henne will get drafted and more than likely on the 1st day. He has a top 5 arm among QBs coming out. Its not all about arm strength. Henne has shown no leadership, poor decision making and no consistency. A QB has to be a dependable leader. Henne has not consistently shown those qualities. Honestly, if you are an NFL coach, do you want Henne out there leading your team? The kid reminds me of Rex Grossman. Good physical talent, but seems to lack the intangibles. Fool 10-11-2007, 11:30 AM And Rex Grossman went totally undrafted. Artermis 10-11-2007, 11:32 AM Every coach thinks they can change a player into what they want. That is why Rex Grossman got drafted. Why else would Aliki Smith and Ryan Leaf get drafted so high when they had bust written all over them. I agree with the no leadership. But there are issues that are not public that causes the problems with consistency. The consistency is as much with the WR as it is with him. Coaches look at his arm strength and ability to make all the throws and will be willing to give up a 2nd or 3rd pick in the hopes of being able to coach him up. I mean Drew Stanton got picked in the 2nd round. He is injury prone, really is not much of a leader (if he was, his teams wouldn't have fallen apart like they did every season. I do realize not everything was his fault, but he threw some bad interceptions while at MSU too). bukdow 10-11-2007, 11:33 AM And Rex Grossman went totally undrafted. It is a lot more evident with Henne. I realize you freaks who dream of boys clad in blue and yellow are unable to employ objectivity when it comes to one of the football cherubs you so admire, but Henne is not a good QB. He is average at best on a team with a lot of talent around him. The kid couldn`t lead an army of ants down an anthill. Fool 10-11-2007, 11:35 AM I love when I get included in the "you UofM slappies". Makes me feel part of the NCAA board. Artermis 10-11-2007, 01:18 PM Just the fact he is a UM QB will get him drafted. Navarre got drafted. WTF wouldnt Henne? You sight leadership. Again, dont point fingers at other programs when MSU has its own problems with leadership. I think we have for the most part been very forthright in our thoughts about Henne. I already said he was not the best QB in the Big 10. I do think he is the best pro prospect out of all the Big QBs. Same as I think Hart is the best Big Ten RB, but is not the best NFL RB prospect in the Big Ten. I am betting I know where all Budkow hate is coming from. They wouldnt accept him at UM and he has gone from a Wal-Mart Wolverine when he was a kid and went Green both in schools and in envy. Budkow the wannabe UM student. It makes me feel all fuzzy inside rooting for UM. I turn your hate into a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that an asshole like you does not root for the same team that I root for. b-diddy 10-11-2007, 01:32 PM I turn your hate into a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that an asshole like you does not root for the same team that I root for. lol, cogent. xanadu 10-11-2007, 02:24 PM I am trying to remember the last u-m qb that hasn't started an nfl game. So far, I have: Navarre Henson Brady Griese Dreisbach Collins Grbac I am pretty sure all of those guys started at least one game (though henson, navarre, and dreisbach only started a couple). So you have to go all the way back to the michael taylor/demetrious brown combo to find a michigan starter that did not start at least one nfl game. kudos to u-m for churning out so many nfl qbs. |
