View Full Version : MSU vs. NW
bukdow 10-07-2007, 10:27 AM A couple of things. First, the players seemed to forget how to tackle. Pretty god damned ridiculous, really. However, and more importantly, the defense was not put in a position to do well. NW is a quick dink and dunk spread offense, right? Then why the hell do you keep blitzing? They weren`t getting to the QB and due to the blitz there wasn`t the full complement of LBs and DBs in coverage. Narduzzi was really pissing me off.
The offense put up 41 points. All in all, they did their job. My only real gripe about Treadwell yesterday was his play calling in OT. Ringer is running down NW`s throats and out their asses yet Treadwell calls all passes. Inexplicable.
The defense was grossly out schemed yesterday and that truck load of shit is poured directly on Narduzzi. I understand he wanted to be aggressive and force the NW QB into mistakes, but when its obvious your original approach isn`t working, adapt.
Bad, bad loss, but last year I think it would have been NW 49 MSU 17. The team kept fighting back and answering, but came up short. Dantonio is righting the ship, but boy, I hope he has Narduzzi running gassers all week with the defensive unit.
HipDigIt 10-07-2007, 10:49 AM OK I've been impressed by Coach Dantonio, said so. I would have bet money that he wouldn't allow the traditional "MSU tough loss hangover" after last week with a very beatable opponent coming in. (Oh I did bet my money...Ugh!!!).
What I watched yesterday was more of the same. I'm not ready to bash Dantonio. This shit is "Twilight Zone otherworldly". Seriously. It's in the fucking water in Ingham County. It's fucking beyond bizarre. The coaches change, the players change but the patterns of play don't. This shit has been going on for 40 years. Mercifully for twenty of those years I lived out west and was too high to realize the Big 10 existed any longer until they'd show up for their Rosey flogging annually so I was a little "looped and out of the loop." Move back East of the "Big Muddy" and thought I'd revisit my Spartan roots as a kid and these last years I've been back I've become aware of this "40-year phenomenon."
Yesterday Ringer showed why he's the best back in the Big 10. He has a bunch of interchangeable parts blocking for him every week. He doesn't have the hype. He rarely gets caught from behind as anyone who saw the 80 yarder can attest to. He got hit twice along the sideline yet lived to put it into overdrive and leave the purples in the dust. 185 yards on 12 carries anothe 50+ on 6 catches. YET HE TOUCHES THE BALL ONCE FROM THE 11 MINUTE MARK IN THE 4TH QUARTER???
Meanwhile Treadwell & Dantonio are trying to turn Hoyer into Brett Favray.
I mean what can you say? It's unspeakable. So in the wake of things you probably have some recruits in to watch this abortion and and you say w"well guys want to come on board??" I'm thinkin' they sign up right after the Shaman comes thru with the chickens feet and snake heads.
I still think they go to a bowl but that performance yesterday was a humbling one for Dantonio. A firm reminder that he is in East Lansing to make chicken patties from a steaming pile of chicken shit. I wish him the best.

I think Narduzzi needs a fucking swat. That dude screwed the most rabid, garbage-eatin`, flea-bit pooch around with his defensive schemes against NW.

I wonder if Valenti still thinks HR Pufenstuff is still the Sparty defensive coordinator. BOY! I can;t wait til Monday! Valenti is probably going to be the "Rant of the Week" in Omaha radio again.

Valenti needs to stop acting like the Green and White circus monkey for everyone to laugh at. Shit happens and shit can be corrected, but that little fucker just acts like a Long Island car-washer.

Yeah, he made some good points. Especially the one about Ringer touching the ball one time the last 11 minutes. Javon was ready, and apparently able, to put the dumbass coaches and the team on his back and win the game single handedly, but wasn`t even given the opportunity. I feel bad for Javon. The kid is a great football player with the heart of a lion, but he has to endure shit like yesterday.
That being said, I still think he pours the criticism on a little too thick and is childishly bombastic in his language. Raise hell, but don`t do the blue and yellow ball-sniffer, Drew Sharp`s job for him. The Detroit media will eviscerate MSU in spades, it doesn`t need another wonk piling on.
Treadwell seems to lose his fucking mind during crunch-time (UW, NW) and Narduzzi seems to be more stubborn than smart. As I said in another thread (I think), MSU MUST beat Indiana next week. Period.

agreed, I'm by no means a State fan, but it drives me insane how he acts like he's the almighty leader of "Spartan Nation"
I won't even bother listening to 1270 tomorrow, b/c he'll only talk about his precious Spartans, and how nothing has changed from last year...
Nobody cares Mike, you weren't supposed to be that good this year anyway..."take your wristbands and STICK 'EM"
Zip Goshboots 10-07-2007, 04:54 PM Indiana will thrash Sparty like a red headed bukdow. Mark it down, put it in stone.
Zip Goshboots 10-07-2007, 05:05 PM Speaking of Valenti, where's the illustrious Dr Tre? Taking another break? Did his rectum explode after yesterday's game?
b-diddy 10-07-2007, 05:27 PM to be fair, tre never called UM fans for not taking their medicine after UM losses. oh wait, he did exactly that? i guess that just makes him a *you decide*.
D's Nuts 10-07-2007, 08:02 PM I cannot fathom how people are already calling for MD's head after this 2 game losing streak. It is completely asinine to say that he deserves to be fired after 2 games, which were hard fought, close games, and that the whole program needs to be scrapped.
Rome was not built in a day people. Yes, other programs have risen, some have fallen. MSU is headed in the right direction under MD. Give the man some time and let's see how the rest of the season shapes up. For God's sake we are 4-2.

Agreed. However, I think MSU can, and must, beat Indiana Saturday. It is homecoming and it is major gut-check time. The coaches and the team need to take care of business, no excuses. If I didn`t think it was a winnable game I wouldn`t be so adamant in saying we must win.
HipDigIt 10-08-2007, 03:55 PM I think MSU gases against Indiana. That QB combined with Thigpen and Hardy are going to drive the "D" mad. People will have flaggons of Poisoned Arizona Iced Tea at the ready to do the Jim Jones. THEN.... I do think they'll win 7 though and go bowling. I think they beat the stiff Morelli at home, tailor made for their pass rush. They will kick Iowa's ass and Christensen will shit himself. They will have one "signature" win and it will either be A4 or OSU. If that fails Purdon't can be had though they'll be tougher than Iowa at their place. 7 wins. See how easy that is..........to type?

Yeah, the more I am finding out about IU`s QB, the worse it looks. Narduzzi is going to have to come up with a pretty slick containment scheme.
Baker 10-11-2007, 07:55 PM to be fair, tre never called UM fans for not taking their medicine after UM losses. oh wait, he did exactly that? i guess that just makes him a *you decide*.
Well, I was in Moodini's wedding on Sat. so I didn't get to see the game and was at the opening presents party for over 3 hours the following day. Jickboy, Wizzle, and Filly will vouch. I did make it here Monday though to read everything and "take medicine", just didn't have anything to say. I either agreed because this was a joke of a performance or the post was some girly boy diddy garbage that didn't warrant a response. I was also here immediately following the heartbreaking loss to Wisc. so don't even try it nancy boy.
Baker 10-11-2007, 07:57 PM BTW, this was a joke of a performance by State. The fact that Dantonio said some players weren't playing hard is disgusting to me. How can you try to erase a bad recent history and negative reputation when you don't show up ready to play.
NO excuse losing to a team like this at home. I was disgusted by it. With that being said, I have faith in Dantonio and I expect a victory this week to move to 5-2 which is more than most predicted at this point.
b-diddy 10-12-2007, 12:01 AM theres actually a psychological explanation, i forget the name.
when YOU do something bad, its because your a bad person.
when I do something bad, im just reacting to the circumstances presented.
we all do it, its just doc tre does it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more often than most people.
