All the "Halo Bashers" don't have to come in here and comment about how the game is no big deal.

Halo fans:
Are you going to get it tonight?
What do you think?
Good conclusion to the story?
Give a review of it once you've beaten it.
Multiplayer as good as Halo 2?

Sound off on your opinions.

I don't think that, since I have Gamefly, that I'm ever going to buy a nonsports title again. Halo 3 could be an exception, but I never got into the online multiplayer very much (I tried a few times, but I'm no good). So, I'm probably not getting it right away, I'll wait until it becomes available on gamefly and I'll keep it for a few weeks. It's getting rave reviews, but I have always held the opinion that the game is not great great, but only very good. I don't see how the game can get better reviews than Bioshock is all... Anyhow. I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

I doubt i'll get it tonight
I have no desire to stand in line with nerds and fanboys

I might pick it up tomorrow if there are any copies left
I played the shit outta Halo 2, especially drunken multiplayer
between NHL 08 and Halo 3 I probably wont have to buy a new game for 6 months

the beauty of halo 3 is on online co-op multiplayer. Playing the story mode with 3 friends is really fun.

Halo 3 Online is like steve spurriers fun and gun....its crazy
Gears of War is like Lloyd Carr's 1947 offense, Slow and steady, pound the rock

Its all a matter of taste

I don't play it online, so I'm not that giddy about it. i know it has to be way better than split screen, but I don't play often enough to 1) survive or 2) spend money on xbox live. I like Halo too, but I only play PC games online.

I finished the game last night. I can't remember a game that I've enjoyed more than this one.

There weren't any plot twists like there was in the first or second, but the story was equally as strong. I really felt like it played out like a movie.

If I were ranking trilogies, this would be right behind "Star Wars" and "Lord of the Rings."

I also like the Matrix trilogy. Not too many other ones are worth a damn though.

MoTown....you finished it already? How many hours? If it's not that much I'll just rent it a couple times.

If you play on Normal you could probably beat it in oh about 7 hours
Herioic and Legendary would probably take you up into the 10-15 hour range

Yeah I played it on Normal to get the story - it took about 7 hours.

Heroic is tough. I'll be working on that one soon.

it;s a great game if you have friends to play the campaign with. If not...it's just okay.

Typical Halo then. Didnt take any chances on the formula thats been working for them. Unfortunately somebody like me who wasnt blown away by the first two probably wont be this time either. But I give it credit. Its a solid FPS. If i were more into that genre I'd might give it a try sooner than later. Either way I'll eventually try it out.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/defective/halo-3-disc-read-errors-rampant-304600.php

A storm is brewing in both the Xbox and Bungie forums, where over a hundred posters have now verified that their copies of Halo 3 are causing disc read errors. lockups, and even the dreaded RRoD on their Xbox 360 consoles. From what I can glean from skimming through the 22 pages of replies to the original poster's problem, most of the people affected purchased the standard edition, though a few are reporting having the problem on both the standard and the LE version of the game. Some believe the discs are corrupting the data on the hard disc itself, as some have had their game discs replaced twice or more now with similar results, and removing the hard disc seems to keep the error from occurring with some posters. Some can load the game fine and play it for short bursts before the problem occurs, while others are finding the issue limited to certain game modes. Check out the forum threads for more info on the problems had, and hopefully some official response will be given about the issue soon.

OK, I don't mean to come in here and hate, but can someone please sell me on the greatness of Halo? Because I just don't see it. As you all know, I'm an avid gamer and that's pretty much what I do whenever I have any free time (other than waste time arguing on here). I've played millions of games and plenty of shooters. I've played both Halo and Halo 2 extensively. I guess I don't understand all of the ridiculous hype that Halo gets. What is so special about it? It's like any other FPS I've played, but worse because I'm not fan of running around with wierd neon guns and shooting pink goo at aliens. What makes it SOOOOOO much better than GRAW? Than Gears? Call of Duty? Medal of Honor? Hell, I even played Black on the PS2 and had more fun. Maybe I'm just more into realistic shooters with real weapons, but I think the Halo franchise is VASTLY overrated.

First off, like I told Muhme on the SI board, that avy is pretty gay. ;)

Secondly, I agree with you about Halo. It's a good, solid game, but I have no idea why people go so nuts over it.

Sound off on your opinions.

If I must:

I'm not a big gamer. I've played a lot of games, but I buy one, maybe two games a year. So my opinion might be different than most hardcore gamers. But I have played a lot of FPS games, including Black, Rainbow Six, Gears of War, GRAW, etc. Those are great games that are very realistic, but not the same.

The one reason that I like Halo more than any other shooter is that the story is head and shoulders above any other game. I feel like the game plays like a movie, and a very good one at that. Halo: Combat Evolved was a game where if you were just fighting an Alien race, it would have been boring. But there were some great plot twists throughout the game that gave it such a great story, and it ends up being a four side fight by the end of the game. I'd never seen a video game before that where the plot was actually "movie worthy." Halo 2 continued down that same path and threw out an intricate plot where you see both sides of the story, and though a little confusing, great altogether. It had a great deal of character development, and made you feel like you were part of the show. Halo 3 finished that story, and combined the great plot along with tons of vehicles, weapons and great characters. It was a great conclusion to the trilogy, and made you feel like you were a part of it. You actually felt like humanity was in it's final hour.

As for those other games you mentioned, they do some things better than Halo. GRAW and Rainbow Six are the most realistic of the games. If you want realism where you feel like that could actually happen, go with those. But they don't have the same story, character development or feeling that Halo gives you.

Gears of War gave you some great tactical points, ducking and hiding for cover. It also looked great. But let's be honest - that plot was a little goofy. Giant bugs and evil aliens come from below the surface to kill humanity? It was fun, but a little silly.

Black had a plot that was pretty basic, and the point of the game was to use as many bullets as possible. I'll be honesty - that was fun, but not worthy of a great game.

The only other game where I feel that the story makes the game even better is the Half Life Series. That's a great amount of fun with subplots and twists all over the place.

I'll admit, I like Sci-Fi stuff. I'm a nerd when it comes to that. So maybe that's the reason that I love Halo and Half Life and got so involved with their story. I know that many people love the multiplayer - I just don't get into the whole multiplayer thing. From what I hear, there's no better multiplayer out there, but I couldn't tell you from experience.

Those are my two cents.

4 player co-op. it's something halo 3 can offer that no other game can, at least with the same quality.

Halo has a very sharp online co-op and multiplayer setup. Its their bread and butter. still i'm not a big FPS person myself, and I chalk up my lack of enticement to the game to that. But I respect its elements. I wish this 3rd one an evolution of the game rather than a straight line super safe sequel. But they've made mass sales so far keeping it safe. So what do i know..lol

no Motown I'm not hating. IN fact i think if you're into FPS more than any genre, theres probably no way to dislike the game.

This was not the bachelor party. The bachelor party was in VEGAS. You can add UM to your avatar by the way.

Fixed.

And truth be told, I bet if any of UofMers would have asked to have the Avi of "UofM sucks..." a couple of weeks ago, it would NOT have been pulled.

haha, you're probably right. Actually this year, you could probably put "Every team sucks" on an avatar and be pretty accurate.
