I have a premonition that victory will be within UM's grasp tomorrow, but they won't get it done.

Just seems like that kind of year.

I saw a replay of the 1999 psu-um game on espn-classic the other day. On one play, brady faked an injury and henson entered the game. Then they ran a trick play where henson threw to a receiver who threw back to henson who ran for 30 yards. It worked like a charm. Flash forward 8 years to last week's game and they tried the same play with mallett who fell down. so... lloyd's one trick play has been recycled for 8 years, but he doesn't seem to realize that the reason it worked so well with henson is that 1) henson could actually run well, 2) penn state probably over-pursued to get after henson after he came into the game sans warm-up. Nonetheless, it seems like lloyd likes to whip that play out a couple of times per season regardless of the quarterback and without the fake injury set up.

I wrote this in another thread, but I predict 20-17 psu in an ugly offensive game. I am not buying that morelli is a good passer this year. Hopefully Graham will play another strong game. (this time against players that have actually blocked someone before.) I also foresee a crable personal foul, 2 mallett/henne INTs, 80 yards for hart against an 8-man front geared to stop him, 1 long td pass. On the other side 1 morelli int, 1 morelli fumble, 1 defensive td (or at least one instance where the psu defense gets a turnover deep in michigan territory), and 1 odd paterno senior moment.

Crazy LLLLLLLLoyd is nowhere in sight as the Stone Aged gameplan is dumbed down so a true freshman quarterback can "handle it". But, PSU does not run the spread and have a scrambling ass quarterback, so we should be golden.

All the big recruits in attendance (including McGuffie) feel it-

M-27
PSU-23

This game is pretty interesting to me just based on what Moodini, Filly, and Jickboy have said since last Sat. All three seem to believe that as long as the other team doesn't have a fast qb, Michigan is a lock. Don't know if I agree or disagree with that, but the devil's advocate might ask if John David Booty is a scrambler.

Like I said in the other post, this is a save what's left of the season game. MUST WIN for blue. I'll be interested to see if PSU's defense was just the result of playing cake teams or if they are indeed good.

I wonder what bukdow thinks about the mouth? Penn St is keying on him, and he still has about 80 yards by halftime.
Also, I like the playcalling, pretty mixed up. What we have here is a Frosh who is just a bit off, doesn;t make the right reads every time, but is playing pretty well. And Adrian Arrington catches everything thrown his way, while Manningham needs to grow some balls.

What I wonder is why you don't give the Frosh more passes to the tight end? Especially with play action on first down?
Defense playing awesome, JoePa is in a shell, Lloyd in his head.
How can you be 6'7 and have passes batted down at the line of scrimmage? Do michigan coaches teach you to throw the ball from your hip?
Inquiring minds want to know.
I've had four beers so far. No food. This could get ugly.

They are about as good as any when it comes to circling the wagons.

They did an excellent job, but that doesnt mean I want them to stay another season after this.

UM is just lucky that PSU has a worse coaching staff than they are.

How with those wide outs do you not go 4-5 WR all the time and do what everyone that wants to thrash UM has done.

BTW Perry was at this game again.

Anyone else notice that B. Graham makes a huge difference when he is allowed to play. He is scary good.

I only saw the second half of this game. huge win. I have noticed b graham is far and away the best playmaker on this defense. Where the hell was he the first two games? discipline problems or is the coaching staff just that stupid?

Also, I told you all that mallett's strength over henne and navarre would be his ability to move around more and throw on the run. He just seems to have the instinctive awareness of where pass rushers are coming from that henne and navarre lacked. In fact, I think henne's biggest weakness is his susceptibility to getting sacked for big losses (rather than at least throwing the ball away). Mallett made some mistakes (especially the fumble), but he was brilliant in the 4th quarter. That kid has a ton of talent. I can't imagine how clausen was considered a better prospect.

The other end of the spectrum is: how the hell could a team that is capable of beating a top-10 program look utterly and completely unprepared for the first two weeks of the season?

Exactly! I keep saying what does Claussen do good? He's not that tall, not fast or agile, minimal armstrength, and doesn't seem to be very accurate. I know ND is pathetic and his line is horrific, but he has shown me nothing to warrant being the #1 player in the country and some even saying in the last 10 years. Mallett has struggled in some areas (fumbling snaps! geez!) like you would expect from a freshman, but you can see his huge upside. Maybe it's just hype for his boy, but Henne said that Mallett will the the best QB in Michigan history.

To the game, the gameplan was obviously to pound away with Hart and not give Mallett too much to handle (I think I called that one!). It worked. Jake Long is a beast (96 rush yards to the left, negative to the right) and Hart might go down in history as the greatest Wolverine ever. As mentioned before, PSU is idiotic for not spreading the field with their talented skill position players, and not once did we see the former HS QB Derrick Williams take a snap at center. They could have gashed U-M if they wanted to. Very Lloyd like.

Bottom line-Michigan can handle anyone if they run a traditional Big Ten offense with an immoble QB.

Graham was in the doghouse.

I dont remember what he did. (I want to say he posted that Slocum Facebook thing, but that could be me starting an internet rumor). He was also a little dinged up for the first game.

Mallett has a lot to learn, but he seems to love the game and he can make all the throws.

That one play where he hit Matthews at the end of the game for a 1st down was a play that Henne never would have made.

D. Williams is the next stud CB that UM will produce. He is confident, cocky and just is a player.

This defense is getting better and better. My biggest worry for the next 3-4 weeks is Illinois.

The kid turned 20 yesterday. This is an NCAA record for 1st year frosh who haven't been to war. However I'm not ready to bury the kid just yet. I think he might look a tad better handing off to Hart and throwing to MM & AA. I'm sure it would do wonders for his self esteem.

No question, and throw in Jake Long to block for him. Poor kid is being thrown out to the wolves. I'm not burying him, either. I guess he also had a throwing arm injury to overcome.
I did hear a couple recruiting gurus in the spring, though, comment that they couldn't see the magic that warranted him being the #1 prospect, or better than Mallett.

This is how stupid you are. Michigan is fantastic against traditional old school offenses. The problem is, only half the country still runs them. The coaching staff sucks ass because they can't adjust. That is what coaching is all about. App. St. lost to Wooford yesterday.

Dude, that is WAY to macho. How can you impress the ladies dressed like THAT?

My connections to the kids today are tenuous, at best...but:

I'm thinking on using this as a potential hairstyle.

^^Dude, a couple years ago I went to the OSU-Michigan game, and forgot my cucumber eye patches. It was a perfect day for it, and damn, I forgot 'em!
Fortunately, a guy in section 54 was selling them at two for $25.00. Saved the day. I was the only one in my section without them, and I was forced to not only massage everyone else's feet during the third quarter, but give play by play of the game to them. What a faux pas.
I now have my own cosmetics bag (not pictured in my earlier post, it was on the left shoulder), and that will never happen again.

So now you know how we roll Balkant, what about you?

Work dictates that I have to wear suit and tie. But when its time to relax I wear this, shield your eyes people it might burn you.

Very sexy outfit Zip, you get one point for picking Princess Grace of Monacco as being classy.

Ugh, do you know how hard it is to run in dress shoes? It's all about cushion on the soles.
