sorry for editorializing in the title, but thats all there is to it. as the son of a cop, i'd have loved to be the one with a taser. i feel no sympathy for this loser. he was begging for this to happen and got exactly what he wanted. theres no reason to ask police to be lax against this chump just because he's your typical seemingly harmless white kid. if he was muslim no one would have questioned tasering him, we'd probably be applauding.

By the time he was tasered, cant blame the cops its procedure. BUT why was he led away in the first place is the question. I say the cops overreacted in the first place, but by the time he was tasered the cops were in the right.

The douchebags are the people who sat and watched the over bearing punk cops nearly kill the kid.
You call this kid a douchebag? He is a young man who is passionate about his beliefs, and knows that he has a right as an American to hear someone give him the answers as to why we are in this fucked up mess we're in (Iraq, and an illegally "elected" president who hijacked the country). He is up there demanding an explanation, and most of the rest of us are busy sleepwalking through life. wasting every freedom, right, and responsibiity we have as Americans.
You remember "Americans", don't you? The citizens of the "greatest nation on earth", citizens of a "republic" or a "democracy", the bastion of freedom and hope for the rest of the world?
I wish I had half the balls that kid has.

I think you have dishonored your avatar, diddy.

a little out of the spirit, perhaps. but if your calling this kid gonzo i think your off, too. this kid is some loser off the internet w/ little grasp of reality. i was waiting the whole time for him to say "this is much worse than having my post deleted!!!!!!!".

i hate bush as much as the next guy, and im not sure the police were in the right when they tried to silence him. infact, im pretty sure they were wrong. but even still, once your being arrested you take it, and if something isnt right you get an attorney. people always say dumb shit like 'fuck the police' but theyre ordinary guys like you and me just trying to get through the day without getting killed.

hunter may have ranted about 'nazi swine' or whatever, but he also said the american dream was dead a long time ago.

Oh, fuck the police in the ear.
They don;t worry about getting through the day without getting killed any more than you or I do. They ain't heroes. Most of them do that because they can't do anything else. Most of them aren;t even qualified to do that. Fuck them straight in the fucking ear. They cry and whine all fucking day about how hard they have it: Nobody told them they had to do it (become a punk with a badge). What the fuck do they think they're getting into when they sign up? Fuck 'em.

i just asked my dad and he said he was a cop in detroit because it was a best job he could get, plus he had some civic pride.

no offense zip, but it might be time to reintegrate yourself into society. anything that implies social ties isnt necessarily evil, just as some some brat who manned up and got off the message boards isnt always a hero.

Of course Zip liked this kid.

They told the kid to ask his question. They told the kid to get off the mic if he wasn't going to ask a question. They told the kid to leave and then tried to escort him away when it became clear he was only there to stir up shit rather than ask his questions in an orderly and thoughtful manner. He told them to fuck off and then fought to get out of their custody as they were trying to escort him out of the room. He told them to fuck off some more. They told him he'd be tazered if he didn't cooperate. He said fuck off. They tasered him. They didn't come CLOSE to "almost killing him". They subdued a man who was resisting their attempt to keep the peace.

Turns out the kid did it specifically as a publicity stunt.
I bet Zip likes him even more.

Don't know what to think about this. I mean, I'm really irritated when cranks step up to a mic in a public forum with an agenda they want to go off about. But at the same time, I think our society has become shockingly intolerant of eccentric behavior to the point that we're ready to inflict violence on people for it. I read a lot of the comments on YouTube about this video, and they're all saying "he's no different from some crazy dude on the street." Well, so what? The crazy dude on the street ain't hurting no one.

So I'll say this - the kid bothers me because he ruined a town-hall meeting where regular people get to ask politicians questions. But just because he had a favorite topic to rant on about doesn't mean he should be restrained, or tasered.

Let me talk to you about a great idea: the ethic of reciprocity.

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Ascribe not to any soul that which thou wouldst not have ascribed to thee, and say not that which thou doest not.

This is the sum of Dharma: Do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you.

[The most important principle of conduct] is the word 'shu' -- reciprocity. Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.

None of you believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself.

What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. This is the law: all the rest is commentary.

All tremble at violence; all fear death. Putting oneself in the place of another, one should not kill nor cause another to kill.
Nations are like people in this regard. We wonder what could have caused all these people around the world to hate us and treat us so badly. This is why. A people who do not practice peace and understanding have no right to expect it in return.

Word is the kid set it up to get publicity for his website. He looks less and less defendable.

BTW, if this kid had been abused by the police or been a victim of police brutality I would certainly say its out of line. Sure tasing hurts, but its a temporary inducement of pain to get you to cooperate. The kid wanted to make a scene, did so, and then didn't stop making the scene. IMO the cops did exactly what they are supposed to do. Get the kid to stop causing a disturbance while keeping everyone, including the kid himself, safe.

This version of the video follows the kid out into the entryway of the building and might give a little perspective to the nature of the use of a taser. He's clearly fine just moments later in the hallway. The taser hurts for the brief moments its applied in order to force you to submit. They didn't hit him will billy clubs until he was hospitalized (as suggested by the "Rodney King" call that the camera man of this vid calls out towards the end).

I like that Fool says "he was only there to stir up shit"--So what? Maybe a little shit needs to be stirred up now and then, and alot.
Also, I like the use of the word "cooperate"--sit on your hands, ask a dumb question that the politician will brush off, and go back to your cubicle at the office.
Sorry boys, I come down on the kids side: He didn't ask Kerry something like "Hey, did you like ketchup enough to marry an ugly rich woman?" He asked a legitimate question and brought up legitimate points.
Too bad if he doesn;t fit into a nice little box that society can chain down and trample until he goes quietly to his grave.

The question he asked isn't a problem. No one has said anything negative about the questions he began to raise. But the kid OBVIOUSLY didn't want an answer to/discussion of those questions since he never stopped talking, shouting, disrupting the event. This isn't a "politicians never answer the real questions and so this kid got tasered" story. Its a "douchebag kid disrupted a town hall, one of the few chances local and ordinary folks get to put politicians to task in person, and when asked, instructed, and then assisted in leaving he kept up/increased his disruption of the event and when fighting the cops was subdued via taser" story.

Get off your high and mighty "I'm the only one who's not a lemming" horse.

The kid could have asked those questions without being a giant douche about it. He can ask the hard questions - you can hear Kerry in the background saying he'll answer the question.

However, as soon as Kerry shows compliance, the kid gets irritated that he's not effecting him, so he says things louder and angrier. He starts to cause a scene which is embarrassing for the U of F, so they cut him off. The police handled it wrong, but I feel no sympathy for the kid. He wanted to cause a scene, so he did. He's a giant tool, and he acted like one. Good for him if he wants to ask the "tough question." Just don't be a tool about it when you do.

I know, I know. Let's all tell the kid how to act and behave properly. We're all such shining examples of exemplary behavior.

You mean there's something wrong with waking up face-down on a stranger's lawn with no pants on after a night of huffing paint?

I'm just asking, because, you know, that happened to a friend of mine.

If this was George Bush instead of John Kerry, the media would have set this up as George Bush's goon did it. Kerry gets a pass. :)

I still think it was a group of Bush goons. The kid was probably a Republican plant, too, to make Democrats look like they wouldn;t enjoy the pain of a taser.
The Republicans think they're all tough and shit because one of their guys took a shotgun blast to the face and didn't even lose a tooth.
