Add about 3-5 tablespoons of olive oil to a 5 quart pot. Add 1 onion, chopped to about a quarter inch. Add some salt, pepper, lil garlic and chile powder and let it all sweat in there for a while.

Add 1 pound of good ground beef with a lil salt, pepper and a lil more chile powder. Fry it, but not quite till its done.

Add a can of diced tomatoes and kidney beans, stir all that up and taste it a lil bit and add chile powder, salt or pepper.

Once all that is back almost to a boil, open a quart of tomato juice. Add at least half and add some more chile powder or pepper if needed and add a lil sugar to taste. I also add some hot sauce to mine at this stage.

I bring all that to a boil, then shut it off and let it sit till I can't wait any longer and then I eat it...with saltines and butter.

This entire thing takes about 15 minutes. Its quick, its simple and good.

I substitute bakers chocolate for the chili powder, it compiments a good sweet tomato which is what you should be getting in the stores/market right now.

I heard Argentina came about from the same recipe, but pinto beans instead of kidney.
