At Yahoo! we use search patterns to help predict what we think will be the breakout new shows. Last year we saw a lot of people searching for Heroes before the season even started. This year with the help of the Yahoo! Buzz team we have identified the Top 10 most popular new shows – before they’ve even aired.

The new CBS reality show Kid Nation is generating the most buzz out of any of the new fall shows. Lots of people are trying to find out more about the controversy surrounding the conditions on set for the kids. We think the show put forth a genuine challenge and the kids rose to meet it. You be the judge. (Premieres Wednesday, Sept. 19)

NBC's Bionic Woman is No. 2 on the Yahoo! TV Buzz list, giving this fresh take on a classic TV series more than a fighting chance at being a success. Who can resist hot chicks who kick butt? (Premieres Wednesday, Sept. 26)

The CW's Gossip Girl is the No. 3 most searched for new show of the fall season. Photos of the hot young cast may have something to do with that. Wild guess. (Premieres Wednesday, Sept. 19)

The CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory comes in at No. 4 on the Yahoo! TV Buzz list proving that nerdy is the new sexy. How else would you explain it? (Premieres Monday, Sept. 24)

The new CW show Reaper about a boy whose parents sold his soul to the devil has burned its way up the search charts landing at No. 5 on the Yahoo! TV Buzz list. (Premieres Tuesday, Sept. 25)

The CBS vampire drama Moonlight makes an appearance at No. 6 on the Yahoo! TV Buzz list. The interview with this vampire (available on Y! TV) is likely what people are searching for. (Premieres Friday, Sept. 28)

The Cuban-American family drama Cane on CBS is the No. 7 most searched for new show on Yahoo! No surprise. Just look at the outstanding cast led by Jimmy Smits. (Premieres Tuesday, Sept. 25)

http://l.yimg.com/img.tv.yahoo.com/tv/us/img/site/24/38/0000042438_20070905152116.jpg?
The new NBC show Chuck is No. 8 on the Yahoo! TV Buzz list. Zach Levi rocks as the self-proclaimed nerd who accidentally implants the government's most well-kept secrets into his subconscious by viewing an email from a friend. Now that's some kind of email virus. (Premieres Monday, Sept. 24)

http://l.yimg.com/img.tv.yahoo.com/tv/us/img/site/24/39/0000042439_20070905152118.jpg?
The Grey's Anatomy spinoff Private Practice on ABC comes in at No. 9 on the Yahoo! TV Buzz list. The cast is solid (Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Amy Brenneman) and the massive Grey's fan base hungry for some California sun are sure to make this show a keeper. (Premieres Wednesday, Sept. 26)

The new ABC comedy Cavemen rolls in at No. 10 on the Yahoo! TV Buzz list. We hope this puts an end to the nasty rumor that cavemen don't get any respect. (Premieres Tuesday, Oct. 2)

Who doesn't love a good old fashioned Cuban-American family drama?

A sure hit!

Somehow I'm not inspired to watch any these shows even once. I'll stick with NBC's Thursday night lineup of 'My Name is Earl', '30 Rock', 'Scrubs', and 'The Office', as well as Sunday night HBO originals not named 'John from Cincinatti'. Oh yeah, September 20th kicks off the new season of Survivor.

Sometimes I lpve not having a TV.

GENIUS. We have one, it's in the basement, and I watch it about once every four weeks.

Devil box! Nothing on it but filth and Negroes. Every time we turn it on, I feel like the whole clan needs a shower and a prayer meetin'.*

*My great grandmother actually used to say this kind of shit. Hilarious.

The Internet is my TV.
I shall not want.
It leadeth me to green pastures
and a lot of shitty ones too.
Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of RIAA
I will fear no evil
for safety in numbers is with me.
And Netflix too.
And I shall dwell in the house of the
Internet, now and forever.
Amen.

Post #1 in the thread:

Hit it. Every one of them, except the cavemen. Cavemen give me the creeps.

We should get a sportsbook over/under as to how many episodes each of these will last. Here's my predictions:

1. Kid Nation - One season. People are sick and love reality shows. I don't get it. I won't watch a single episode, but a lot of people will love to watch a bunch of kids be exploited.
2. Bionic Woman - 10 episodes. Most people won't want to watch more than 2 episodes just to see if the cast is hot. The whole "Girl Power" thing just doesn't work anymore.
3. Gossip Girl - A couple of seasons. Why? Because teenage girls will like the name, and the CW/UPN/Whateverthefuckitscallednow can't come up with any better shows.
4. The Big Bang Theory - I'm not sure about this one - it actually looks like a sitcom that might work. I don't know though. I'll say this one stays on the air.
5. Reaper - Same thing as Gossip Girls. It will stay on because CW/UPN/Whateverthefuckitscallednow's best show is wrestling, if it's still on that channel.
6. Moonlight - A show about vampires? 6 episodes. See: Blade: The Series.
7. Cane - This show is going to make it. Jimmy Smits will kill you if it doesn't.
8. Chuck - People will watch the first episode and laugh. They'll watch the second episode and see that it's the same as the first. Will watch the third episode to give it one more shot. Won't watch the 4th. 7 episodes.
9. Private Practice - People will watch it because advertisers mention Grey's Anatomy. "GREY'S ANATOMY???? WE HAVE TO WATCH THIS SHOW BECAUSE SHOWS ABOUT DOCTORS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH MEDICINE AND ARE MEDIOCRE SOAP OPERAs AT BEST ARE AWESOME!!!!!"
10. Cavemen - See "The Cavemen thread." 5 episodes.

What, if anything, makes the Ironic Woman more like Buffy and less like Dark Angel or Alias?

We should get a sportsbook over/under as to how many episodes each of these will last. Here's my predictions:

1. Kid Nation - One season. People are sick and love reality shows. I don't get it. I won't watch a single episode, but a lot of people will love to watch a bunch of kids be exploited. CORRECT!
Actual: One season

2. Bionic Woman - 10 episodes. Most people won't want to watch more than 2 episodes just to see if the cast is hot. The whole "Girl Power" thing just doesn't work anymore. CORRECT!
Actual: 8 episodes

3. Gossip Girl - A couple of seasons. Why? Because teenage girls will like the name, and the CW/UPN/Whateverthefuckitscallednow can't come up with any better shows. CORRECT!
Actual: Still going strong because of teenage girls.

4. The Big Bang Theory - I'm not sure about this one - it actually looks like a sitcom that might work. I don't know though. I'll say this one stays on the air. CORRECT!
Actual: CBS Picked it up for a second season.

5. Reaper - Same thing as Gossip Girls. It will stay on because CW/UPN/Whateverthefuckitscallednow's best show is wrestling, if it's still on that channel. CORRECT!
Actual: Reaper was picked up for a second season.

6. Moonlight - A show about vampires? 6 episodes. See: Blade: The Series.CORRECT!
Actual: One Season. Went longer than I expected though.

7. Cane - This show is going to make it. Jimmy Smits will kill you if it doesn't. WRONG!
Actual: One season. I lose.

8. Chuck - People will watch the first episode and laugh. They'll watch the second episode and see that it's the same as the first. Will watch the third episode to give it one more shot. Won't watch the 4th. 7 episodes.WRONG!
Actual: Picked up for a second season. (I actually think the show is kinda fun)

9. Private Practice - People will watch it because advertisers mention Grey's Anatomy. "GREY'S ANATOMY???? WE HAVE TO WATCH THIS SHOW BECAUSE SHOWS ABOUT DOCTORS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH MEDICINE AND ARE MEDIOCRE SOAP OPERAs AT BEST ARE AWESOME!!!!!" .CORRECT!
Actual: While panned by critics, retarded people still watch it because they mention the words "Grey's Anatomy" with it. Awful show, let's give it a second season.

10. Cavemen - See "The Cavemen thread." 5 episodes..CORRECT!
Actual: 8 episodes. 3 off.

Thanks to Glenn in the "Did you know" thread.

8/10 ain't bad. Especially since I was almost dead on with most of them.

I got sucked into watching Chuck one night when I was sick and they replayed it on Saturday. Corny yes, but not a bad show. All the rest suck, so I was 9/10.
