Huge news broke today for the Spartans. All Big East Defensive End Trevor Anderson is officially a Spartan. Anderson was rumored to have wanted to transfer to Michigan State, however Brian Kelly did the honorable (rolling of the eyes) thing and didn't let him out of his scholarship. In a very quiet move, Anderson (without informing the media) left Cincinatti and transfered to MSU. Because Kelly would not let Anderson out of his schollie, Anderson decided to pay his tuition this year at MSU making him eligible to play next season.

Anderson is a stud defensive end. He started as a true freshman for Dantonio at Cincinatti and was very effective. Last year, he started all 12 games and was named All Big East as a sophmore. Anderson will be a HUGE addition to the Spartans defense next year. The Spartans were probably already going to receive a little preseason attention heading into next season given the fact that they will have an experienced senior quarterback, a potential All Big Ten senior running back, and a defense which will have talented youth and a significant amount of experience.

Anderson enrolled this spring without anyone knowing. He will begin practicing with the Spartans this week. Exciting news!

I can't believe none of my fellow Spartans have commented on this yet.

He is a nice addition, but this was all pretty expected.

I thought this was known for a while.

But anyway it is huge to have an All Conference kid there. I'd compare this to getting a 5 star JuCo kid. You know he is good, but only 2 years of play(after RSing this year).

But yeah, I'm real pumped to have this kid.

I guess I knew about it when it was first developing, but after Kelly played the bitch role, I thought things fell through.

The kid should be fantastic next year as a junior, possibly an All Big Ten DE. Holy shit, a Spartan All Big Ten DE? That would be NICE! Reason I say that is he was All Big East for one and secondly, he'll be a senior in the experience department, but he'll have two years left. The Big Ten is a step up, but a year salivating, lifting, wanting to play so bad and learning in practice while he's at it should make up the difference in talent.

There's a big difference between being a 1st team Big East DE and 1st team Big Ten DE. Keep in mind the only teams worth mentioning from the Big East are Louisville and West Virginia, and they play absolutely NO defense.

Solid pickup though.

I agree, clearly a difference between All Big East and All Big Ten. However, that's All Big East as a sophmore! I don't care what league it is, if you are All Conference as a sophmore, you can play for my team. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the All Big Ten team next year with the experience, talent, and fire he'll have with him.

How many players did MSU have that wouldn've been first team All-Sunbelt last year?

He'll step in for the departed Erwin Baldwin nicely.

Trevor Anderson spoke to the media for the first time. He seems very well spoken, dude is huge, and seems very eager to get on the field.

He said that Dantonio is coming in an making real close ties to his hometown PSL area. He said everybody is talking about it and there are many guys that were thought of as future Wolverines that he now believes will chose State because of the bond Dantonio is making with the league coaches.

He said this when asked about Michigan's troubles and State's dramatic changes to their program, "What can I say, timing is everything. The state is turning green and I'm proud to be a part of it."
