Glenn

Is the "fifty watts per channel, babycakes" thing from a Highland Appliance commercial? I want to say a naval officer or a sailor was involved.

Yeah, the theme of the commercial was that it was a bunch of Soviet sailors who got all excited hearing about Highland Appliance on their radio, so they drove their submarines to Detroit and started testing out their new English pick-up lines at the stereo sale.

Anybody else remember "the jukebox network" channel?

Not sure if it was available in other Michigan markets besides saginaw.

We used to pickup the phone at other people's houses at parties in high school and order up videos that would later appear on their phone bill.

Kinda sounds like a Ledezma move, in hindsight

Fool
09-29-2009, 09:16 AM
You paid to have them show videos?

Glenn
09-29-2009, 09:22 AM
No, we ordered them at other people's houses and they paid for us to watch videos at parties.

But that was the concept, it was music video pay-per-view. I think it was like $3 per video.

I remember seeing a lot of MC Hammer, Oaktown 357, Karyn White and surprisingly, quite a bit of Danzig.

IIRC, the channel was based out of Miami.

Soleil Moon Frye entered Hollywood at a young age, beginning at the age of two and finding fame at the age of seven in the title role of the hit television show Punky Brewster. As a child she began to develop early, due to a medical condition known as gigantomastia (literally, giant breasts). By the time she was 15, the petite actress had a 38-DD bust size, earning her the unwelcome nickname of Punky Boobster. Suffering from taunts and physical issues like being unable to jog or hug people comfortably, Soleil opted to have a breast reduction, discussing the procedure with People magazine back in 1993.
